This post is mostly addressed to CCP, but everybody is welcome to join the conversation.
GÇ£We areGÇ¥: me and a lot of RL friends, not my corp or alliance. And leaving Dust means, we are no longer going to play it together. Last weekend (29.3-30.03) we had our latest GÇ£meet and playGÇ¥ event. Let me explain it really quick. We meet once a month somewhere in someoneGÇÖs flat and carry our PS3, monitors and equipment together order junk food and drink booze and play till we collapse and spend the night there. ThatGÇÖs it. The last time we agreed that Dust will not be launched again on our PS3s for a very, very long time.
I try to explain properly why. The following points are ordered after huge problems on top and still not good at the bottom.
Matchmaking- or the GÇ£not makingGÇ¥-system:
When we meet our goal is to have fun together. We are gamers with 20+ years gaming experience. Fun for us is to win games and to be beaten in games but still feel some king of satisfaction for example loosing, but still having a good time because of a close call or a good challenge. Fun is not being stomped or mercilessly destroyed on the field. This is frustrating above and beyond. I was taking the lead, giving commands, watch for the team to stick together, explaining tactics, dropping HAVs and evacuating our squad with the drop ship. LetGÇÖs say, I did everything I could to make a win happened. My buddies are not as active in Dust as I used to be and we meet some major problems like ISK and SP. But ISK and SP should be cool, if the system would find matches for us that are somehow equal in quality to our side. What we have found where two full corp squads against us, and absolutely no organized squad on our side. We meet the same people against us over and over again. It feels like: GÇ£och come on, not these guys again! Is someone else playing this game, or are we the only one left here?!GÇ¥
No diversity: The Game.
How about something else to do rather taking over the objectives? How about PVE? How about giving small casual groups something to do or having a small chance in this lobby shooter?
Maps.
The maps feel dull and ugly. They are missing the love of details and are somehow wrong in size and proportion. I donGÇÖt like to pull this example, but we could play BF3/4 maps over and over and over and over again without switching once. I know that the games should not be compared, but if I had the choice, I would always choose a BF map to play in Dust. Somehow the maps feels more polished, more thought through and well-designed. Maybe this is the curse of random generated maps, but this canGÇÖt be the excuse for the dullness and ugliness of the looks. The Maps donGÇÖt even makes ANY sense. IGÇÖm not expecting to see a full production line, but now one can explain to me what these random structures are. Is this thing a star gate? What is this lonely empty building/structure doing here? Pipes coming and going from nowhere in to nowhere. ItGÇÖs like a huge Lego Godzilla took a huge dumb in the middle of the dessert. Randomness without a real concept.
Graphics and Sound.
Well, this one is concerning me for a while now. Why does this game look so awful? Have you ever see other shooters on the PS3? I know itGÇÖs not a gaming PC but hell they all look a lot better.
The sound is annoying in a lot of weapons sounds like toys from the 90s and the repetitive sound glitches makes it even worse.
Cloaks.
BoyGǪ DonGÇÖt get me started on this bullshGǪ ONE proto scout taking half the squad with remote explosives, shotguns and runs away? Run games like 27/1 31/1 and so on. Brilliant idea CCP! Balance this somehow to a more enjoyable level. And yes we had scanners and midslot modules against cloak.

Why the hell canGÇÖt we trade in Dust? And when will we be able to trade between EVE and Dust? Come on! Trade for merc to merc is essential!
No diversity: The Maps.
ItGÇÖs the same thing, over and over again. A view might say: GÇ£Well playing the same map and mod in BF4 is boring as wellGÇ¥. But itGÇÖs somehow not. Somehow every match feels different, and somehow the joy stays a lot longer. I can only explain this by the diversity of things you can do on a map. Let this wall collapse, blow up a bridge, camp this hill, and hide in this bush. Apropos bush, why is there as good as no vegetation? It could make the maps more interesting, even the desserts in BF4 are more interesting and more GÇ£livingGÇ¥ then this little grass things on the ground.
There Patch 1.8 is nothing special in our eyes, and since we are talking honest here: This should have been there, right from the start, even in the beta. Like a lot of other things. We hope that you have something extra ordinary special to present during the FanFest and the you will release it in a very short time after that.
After all this criticism let me tell you what we like about this game.
We like the persistence and the potential longevity. A lot of us are sick and tired of every year a new CoD or other FPS. We would like GÇ£to lock jaws into somethingGÇ£. We like the future setting. We like the New Eden setting (after all, half of us still plays EVE). We like the potential (if you donGÇÖt **** it up). We like the art and style.

It's the long term potential that keeps us playing seriously. We really want our omni-merc to have all the isk ready for the next new thing, and that's why you didn't quite get the Mario Party experience you were looking for...we're all super serious about Dust 514.

This could be a fallacy. There where players that got their 35/1 matches before cloaks. Its the old veteran bias, nothing more, nothing less. There you have your 13ears and Duna2002s. But if you have the slightest hint of a life, youll never beat them in any game...
The rest: Nothing that PVE(!!!) couldnt solve. Dust has a too little playerbase and makes too little profit to be developed any more quickly. But I sure hope they dont scrap it half way. The potential is godlike.
The only thing that frustrates me is not to have a clear roadmap. So SOON tm becomes very intimidating and hopeless. If there where a public timeline and roadmap, with clearly layed out content coming, we all would be a little less whiney...

The game is just boring.
Lots of kick ass games are out and are coming out very soon, I'm getting ready to start throwing myself into them for a while. I have 30 million SP so I don't really need any more, if fanfest is more than glitter covered lies I may come back for the fanfest build.

As far as getting stomped....get a squad and get better. Saying that you are always stacked against 2 squads is an exaggeration. Well, that's if you're playing skirmish. Because a lot of corps farm in ambush constantly.
I have a problem with comparison to BF maps. I mean, BF maps are definitely sick and after the rush passes, that's it. Who logs in an fps game just for the maps? Well, maybe I could be wrong about affection for maps. I know (and not just me) there was an entire community played the same 3 dull maps for 2 years because the gameplay was that good.
Definitely need a market....but is that why you would leave?

You just supported my statement. Without a corp squad who plays active, you are fuck3d. And that is one reason we are leaving this game for the events. I swear we where having two organized squads a lot of time against us. I hope that the matchmaking system is not putting a squad full of randoms equal to a squad full of the same corp/alliance.

would love to do this kinda stuff...but I don't know 1 person in real life that plays this. None of the 6 people that I had play this stayed longer than a week.

The overall quality is missing in this game.
Btw. after the frustration boiled up on us, I asked: "Guys, how many SP do you have left?", "Ok, skill snipers. I will drop you up on higher ground."
And this where the matches where we decide not to play Dust on this events again. We have some 4players coop in mind, but if we become more, we would switch to BF.

Just go and play BF3 / BF4 and come back to DUST for the fanfest era patch. That's my plan. This game could be a lot more but there is not a lot we can do.
Granted random whine posts on the forums help no one however I have seen a ton of actual constructive criticism on the forums yet I dont feel anything is taken under advice from CCP / CPM dudes half the time.
So yea, go play other things - feel happy again and come back to dust if and when they 'fix it'. |

This is true. The biggest reason for that is the relentless disparity between new players and veterans with millions upon millions of SP that squad up together and rampage through public matches crushing anyone that hasn't built up all the assets they have. Why WOULD they stick around after the academy? And more important to CCP - why would they spend a single dime on Dust?
Call it butthurt, call it whatever you want, but without those noobs this game will never go anywhere. I have played many hours of Dust since the beta. I have plenty of SP and ISK, but none of my friends will play because they can't compete with the elites that troll the pubs. I can't blame them. So I solo when I can, but no one will stick around in Dust. It's sad because it has so much potential. |

Yeah, this game is pretty bad. Like, really bad, even.
There was a time when I could play this game ironically and make fun of what a **** game it is, because the people I played with were so awesome. They're still awesome, but this game hasn't improved, and probably won't.
Players are grasping at straws, speaking about this patch and that like it will save the game, but let's face it. CCP does not know how to make a compelling shooter, and who knows when they will decide to play to their MMO strengths (spoiler: never).
I don't think I've squaded with meri jin or DUST Fiend in ages, but have a good time playing a better game, friends. |

Just a few counterpoints: ridiculous number of bugs asside, this is the best patch we've ever had. Gameplay is more varied and tactical than its ever been. Yes there are still balance issues. Some weapons are still crap (like the plasma cannon), others may still need small 2-3% nerfs (the RR, CR) but the roughest edges are already much smoother than before. I expect to see changes to the cloaked shotgun scout as well, it's too strong and breaks the risk vs. ISK when they can be spammed cheaply. Active scanners may need improvements. Assaults need love. But overall, the game is moving in the right direction.
Maps. Yes I'm bored of them too. If CCP was releasing 1 large socket every 3 months (as they had planned)we would already have a lot more variety. We're long overdue for new maps. The overall design makes sense to me. Having sockets and different terrain tyes to plug into is really the only reasonable way to model the thousands of planets in new Eden. They still feel way too similar, but as the diversity of sockets and terrain grows, the combinations increase exponentially. The whole map system feels like its designed for much larger battles. Right now this can be frustrating, but I think when this game transitions to better hardware, we'll see major improvements in this department (trees, water, caves, vegitation, swamps, etc).
Take a break for a bit. This game is showing signs of coming into its own over the next year. I'm pretty optimistic.

My recommendation to you is to take a long break until the next major expansion for Dust. And by "next major expansion" I don't mean Uprising 1.9 or 1.10 or what have you. I mean something like Dust 514: SomeNewName 1.0. The reason you should take breaks is that it helps with dealing with the boredom.
Me and my friends play Halo every week doing nothing free-for-alls match after match. But we rarely play Halo 4 but plenty of Halo 3. Why? Halo 4 has problems with the sign-in process which pissed off the majority of my friends. Halo 4 would get stuck for a while as it's loading just after everyone signs in with their account and even then it seems to repeat the sign-in process all over again even though we already signed in a moment ago. There is also the fact that Microsoft recently forced everyone to update their accounts with an additional contact information and whatnot which caused many of our game nights to get delayed. As a result, we seldom ever play Halo 4.
Halo 3 on the other hand doesn't give us any problems in terms of the sign-in process and the loading process is much faster and smoother. The graphics are crappy and the content is limited compared to Halo 4, but Halo 3 is still fun despite it being old and dated.
But it's not always about FPS games in our game nights. We also play competitive fighting games. Since we also have a Nintendo Wii (not the Wii U) we play also Super Smashbros Brawl during those game nights. It's quite refreshing when you mix up different genres. It helps to keep me coming back to Dust.

The game is ugly, boring with no variety, when it takes over a year post 'release' to even get some racial parity, bullshit is crazy.

Game modes -'it's the exact same mode in all 3 options.
Maps - getting better but will need to improve.
Cloaks - crutch x10
NPE - game isn't going to grow unless there is new blood.
I also agree with the comment that this patch has been the most balanced, minus cloaks. But the gameplay is improved, it's just too bad there no variety in maps or game modes which makes game boring. There are many positives in dust, a bright future for them in PS4, but right now it seems that PS3 is just one bit BETA test. |

I was taking the lead, giving commands, watch for the team to stick together, explaining tactics, dropping HAVs and evacuating our squad with the drop ship. LetGÇÖs say, I did everything I could to make a win happened. My buddies are not as active in Dust as I used to be and we meet some major problems like ISK and SP. But ISK and SP should be cool, if the system would find matches for us that are somehow equal in quality to our side. What we have found where two full corp squads against us, and absolutely no organized squad on our side. We meet the same people against us over and over again. It feels like: GÇ£och come on, not these guys again! Is someone else playing this game, or are we the only one left here?!GÇ¥
No diversity: The Game.
How about something else to do rather taking over the objectives? How about PVE? How about giving small casual groups something to do or having a small chance in this lobby shooter?
Maps.
The maps feel dull and ugly. They are missing the love of details and are somehow wrong in size and proportion. I donGÇÖt like to pull this example, but we could play BF3/4 maps over and over and over and over again without switching once. I know that the games should not be compared, but if I had the choice, I would always choose a BF map to play in Dust. Somehow the maps feels more polished, more thought through and well-designed. Maybe this is the curse of random generated maps, but this canGÇÖt be the excuse for the dullness and ugliness of the looks. The Maps donGÇÖt even makes ANY sense. IGÇÖm not expecting to see a full production line, but now one can explain to me what these random structures are. Is this thing a star gate? What is this lonely empty building/structure doing here? Pipes coming and going from nowhere in to nowhere. ItGÇÖs like a huge Lego Godzilla took a huge dumb in the middle of the dessert. Randomness without a real concept.
Graphics and Sound.
Well, this one is concerning me for a while now. Why does this game look so awful? Have you ever see other shooters on the PS3? I know itGÇÖs not a gaming PC but hell they all look a lot better.
The sound is annoying in a lot of weapons sounds like toys from the 90s and the repetitive sound glitches makes it even worse.
Cloaks.
BoyGǪ DonGÇÖt get me started on this bullshGǪ ONE proto scout taking half the squad with remote explosives, shotguns and runs away? Run games like 27/1 31/1 and so on. Brilliant idea CCP! Balance this somehow to a more enjoyable level. And yes we had scanners and midslot modules against cloak.

Why the hell canGÇÖt we trade in Dust? And when will we be able to trade between EVE and Dust? Come on! Trade for merc to merc is essential!
No diversity: The Maps.
ItGÇÖs the same thing, over and over again. A view might say: GÇ£Well playing the same map and mod in BF4 is boring as wellGÇ¥. But itGÇÖs somehow not. Somehow every match feels different, and somehow the joy stays a lot longer. I can only explain this by the diversity of things you can do on a map. Let this wall collapse, blow up a bridge, camp this hill, and hide in this bush. Apropos bush, why is there as good as no vegetation? It could make the maps more interesting, even the desserts in BF4 are more interesting and more GÇ£livingGÇ¥ then this little grass things on the ground.
There Patch 1.8 is nothing special in our eyes, and since we are talking honest here: This should have been there, right from the start, even in the beta. Like a lot of other things. We hope that you have something extra ordinary special to present during the FanFest and the you will release it in a very short time after that.
After all this criticism let me tell you what we like about this game.
We like the persistence and the potential longevity. A lot of us are sick and tired of every year a new CoD or other FPS. We would like GÇ£to lock jaws into somethingGÇ£. We like the future setting. We like the New Eden setting (after all, half of us still plays EVE). We like the potential (if you donGÇÖt **** it up). We like the art and style.

I haven't logged in since this weekend. I'm still enjoying DarkSouls 2 pvp and my 3rt run. On the PS4 the PS+ Abo gave us Mercenary Kings, it looks and feels addicting :). http://youtu.be/azkqiFmFNUA

This is funny, a couple of days ago, a week max, i saw 9 Goonfeet guys on the same FW match with eve support. On my side, there were no squads or good corp players (im a Dust vet i know whos who) Your guys got stomped (their scores were terribad at best) so before you start asking for matchmaking fixes, nerf hammer this nerf hammer that, PvE, etc, just get better at the game.
This is not a taunt, its just bad timing for this lame thread you made, since that was the first time i saw your corp name in an actual match and not in the forums caught my attention.
Your points about the different problems Dust has are not bad,or wrong but the way you wrote it, and the context... 20 years of gaming experience? I think its really the slow pace of development that is somewhat unprecedented in an FPS (except Duke Nukem Forever lol). But I really like the design philosophy to develop a game along with its community over an extended period of time. Hope the experiment pays off in the end.

Dust biggest problem and it was a year ago as well (when I first started to play). League of Legends is the fine example how rewarding is a good matchmaking system and Titanfall's most exciting feature as well. |

Not skill points, never skillpoints. Not warpoints, never warpoints. Not meta level, never meta level.
Primary variable is final position on the match leadedboard for every match played, weighted by who you had with you and who you had against you, weighted by win or loss. After that come lag. Personally i'd stop right there and see how that worked.
That's how we all assess a match. Imagine our population didn't grow and we eventually recognized every merc. Could you recognize an incoming redline by looking at the names on the board at match start? Of course you could, many of us can do it even now.
If we can do it now with only a sliver of the information availiable to CCP, it means our matchmaker is either making crap assumptions or excluding important information.
Remember at this desperate stage we're not trying to predict good matches, we're just trying to avoid redline stomps most of the time.
I support SP rollover.

The OP forgot another good reason to quit this game, the half of the supposed "community" that are short sighted children who say shlt like "can I haz your ISK?" when fed up people leave. Guess what if enough people leave then the game dies.
I can't blame anyone for leaving this game, I only play it because not enough of my friends and corp mates have PS4 yet. So I log on and play with them a little bit and then as soon as they aren't on, I'm not on. This game provides me with no other reason to play. I have plenty of SP and when playing I either lose ISK running Adv or run **** gear and gain it, for what? So I can run proto in pubs and lose ISK while members of the blue donut have limitless funds because CCP is too f**king inept to design a game that is more than a lobby shooter and too f**king stubborn to listen to beta testers who told them that their PC concept would be absolutely broken.
I really respect what Jungian and this group are doing walking away, they are wiser people than I.
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

I started back in early closed beta when the game was good. it had 1 map and a bf3 rush type game mode then i quit when it went into open beta. i am honestly surprised this game is still around today. Their fanfest show nothing but stuff that should already had been in the game at launch, the racial suits , racial guns , racial vehicles , jets , hover bikes , mavs. Their so called "new maps" are nothing but the same maps over and over with objects placed in different spots. probably going to get banned again by ccp just like they always ban me when i point out their half ass work. CCP also pays attention to the cry babies too much. They nerf the hell out of everything. |

We all have our own reasons, mine is the idea of dust 514 and that one day I'll be able to spend all that isk I have on something more than just dropsuits, and weapons for these damn pub battles. But now I'm done till Dust becomes worth it, this is my last break. If Fanfest has nothing that interests me then I'm done with the ps3 version or forever if it ever gets on the ps4.

Dust and Space vacations are important. I finally gave PS2 a try this week and while it can be kind of fun I don't think it's a game I'll sink that much time into. Death doesn't matter at all in that game, which leaves Dust having more of a weighty feel to it. The combat in Dust is more satisfying too when you're not getting instapopped by the FOTM. In 1.8 that's pretty much only shotgun scouts.
The improvements have been steady and show no sign of stopping, so Dust is probably going to be the only fps I spend any serious amount of time playing for a long time. But this weekend I might play spaceships. Haven't done that in a while. |

I took a break for about four months, I came back and am pleased with the progression that the game is taking. Frustrated with tanks, being that it takes more than one proto forge to take out a standard tank. (Does that make sense?) But I enjoy fighting cloaks and even getting ganked by them, however frustrating it may be. Because usually, I can turn and kill them if they're using shotguns. Though, the cloak & RE is kinda stupid. |

Wow. I would have thought goons would be the last to be so critical of CCP's console creation seeing as how they come from one of the oldest alliances that actually saw what EVE online was like in the early days. Eve didn't become what it is today over the span of a year and a half.

He should wait until fanfest is over, but I understand why. He's frustrated, he doesn't want to deal with the game due to all the spamming of the FOTM and all the bugs. But he'll supposedly be back if dust gets onto the ps4.

Yes I know, but EVE always feel different, and the time back then was another as well.
I can't point my finger on it, but the gaming world have changed, we have changed, "the gamers" are older now, more grown up.
And I think that in these days, people will eat less and less **** if you try to serve it.

hmmmmm maybe, Destiny on the ps4 is gonna be awesome for sure. Dust 514 version will probably be good, depends on how much they rush it. Since they've barely gotten the ps3 version right.

the guy that got me to play this game only played one game and never came back. this was back in the fitting glitch days.
i have no idea what CCP is working on at ching chong land, but im pretty sure they said "if we can't be the best, we sure as hell can be the worst".

Nearly a year later and we are just now getting all the heavy suits, and it looks like CCP wasn't even planning to release them anytime soon. Some of the textures on the new heavies doesn't look too good. Makes me wonder what CCP is even working on. the guy that got me to play this game only played one game and never came back. this was back in the fitting glitch days. i have no idea what CCP is working on at ching chong land, but im pretty sure they said "if we can't be the best, we sure as hell can be the worst".
Ah that sucks you never saw him in the game again? The game needs more than new toys, was hoping for something to do than play amb,skirmish and dom a hundred times over again with the new suits and weapons in 1.8 . I got my friend into this game when open beta started, I got the closed beta key during the summer of 2012 and I remember showing him the game and explaining the idea if the game. He liked the idea of the game also, and that's the problem the idea is better than the game right now.

Yeah that's a problem. Some games have fantastic ideas but never really reach the final result. And then, there are games with "bad" ideas that turn out to be hilarious fun due to good game play.

It is still Goon, the corp exist more to reserve the name till this game become relevant for eve ;)

LetGÇÖs say, I did everything I could to make a win happened. My buddies are not as active in Dust as I used to be and we meet some major problems like ISK and SP. But ISK and SP should be cool, if the system would find matches for us that are somehow equal in quality to our side. What we have found where two full corp squads against us, and absolutely no organized squad on our side. We meet the same people against us over and over again. It feels like: GÇ£och come on, not these guys again! Is someone else playing this game, or are we the only one left here?!GÇ¥
No diversity: The Game.
How about something else to do rather taking over the objectives? How about PVE? How about giving small casual groups something to do or having a small chance in this lobby shooter?
Maps.
The maps feel dull and ugly. They are missing the love of details and are somehow wrong in size and proportion. I donGÇÖt like to pull this example, but we could play BF3/4 maps over and over and over and over again without switching once. I know that the games should not be compared, but if I had the choice, I would always choose a BF map to play in Dust. Somehow the maps feels more polished, more thought through and well-designed. Maybe this is the curse of random generated maps, but this canGÇÖt be the excuse for the dullness and ugliness of the looks. The Maps donGÇÖt even makes ANY sense. IGÇÖm not expecting to see a full production line, but now one can explain to me what these random structures are. Is this thing a star gate? What is this lonely empty building/structure doing here? Pipes coming and going from nowhere in to nowhere. ItGÇÖs like a huge Lego Godzilla took a huge dumb in the middle of the dessert. Randomness without a real concept.
Graphics and Sound.
Well, this one is concerning me for a while now. Why does this game look so awful? Have you ever see other shooters on the PS3? I know itGÇÖs not a gaming PC but hell they all look a lot better.
The sound is annoying in a lot of weapons sounds like toys from the 90s and the repetitive sound glitches makes it even worse.
Cloaks.
BoyGǪ DonGÇÖt get me started on this bullshGǪ ONE proto scout taking half the squad with remote explosives, shotguns and runs away? Run games like 27/1 31/1 and so on. Brilliant idea CCP! Balance this somehow to a more enjoyable level. And yes we had scanners and midslot modules against cloak.

Why the hell canGÇÖt we trade in Dust? And when will we be able to trade between EVE and Dust? Come on! Trade for merc to merc is essential!
No diversity: The Maps.
ItGÇÖs the same thing, over and over again. A view might say: GÇ£Well playing the same map and mod in BF4 is boring as wellGÇ¥. But itGÇÖs somehow not. Somehow every match feels different, and somehow the joy stays a lot longer. I can only explain this by the diversity of things you can do on a map. Let this wall collapse, blow up a bridge, camp this hill, and hide in this bush. Apropos bush, why is there as good as no vegetation? It could make the maps more interesting, even the desserts in BF4 are more interesting and more GÇ£livingGÇ¥ then this little grass things on the ground.
There Patch 1.8 is nothing special in our eyes, and since we are talking honest here: This should have been there, right from the start, even in the beta. Like a lot of other things. We hope that you have something extra ordinary special to present during the FanFest and the you will release it in a very short time after that.
After all this criticism let me tell you what we like about this game.
We like the persistence and the potential longevity. A lot of us are sick and tired of every year a new CoD or other FPS. We would like GÇ£to lock jaws into somethingGÇ£. We like the future setting. We like the New Eden setting (after all, half of us still plays EVE). We like the potential (if you donGÇÖt **** it up). We like the art and style.

At what I will assume is an older age you should know something of this caliber (more of where it is headed) can not be built over night or even in 3-5 years. We (the community) are going to grow with the good and the bad. Right now mostly bad, I know it oh so well. But, this is it for us old(er) guys. I don't believe another game of this potential caliber will make it out in time.

Minecraft is a limited solo experience if you ask me, but I like this game even alone. Still enjoying DArksouls2 and I think I will buy Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen. I played the normal DD, but not the add on.

It is easier than you think. Try different hobbies other than gaming for awhile. I rarely even use my PS3 for anything other than the occasional movie streaming these days. I just found other things to do other than sit in front of my tv. Now, when I do get to jump on and play, I don't get upset by the bullshittery we often see in games.

Yes, they did say some time back that Matchmaking was being updated. The result was that stupidest of all AIs to end AIs - Scottie. They actually decided to take 32 Merc, count all the battle types and then put them into a match. Without letting anybody in DUST know that we no longer could select a battle type, cause we got voted in one based on Scottie. So, a good matchmaking system from the geni that gave us Scottie? Thanks, but no thanks.

I had friends quit last week. See what happens when E3 happens and PS2 gets announced for the PS4. Buh bye. It does everything we were dreaming that Dust would do. Fan fest is soon,there will be more promises for Dust that will not get delivered, because they will be forgotten about, just like the last two had. Same old, same old.
IMO, Chromosome was a Good game. It was Not a great game. However, it was good with signs of greatness. Then Uprising came out and we find out that all the Beta work was effectively thrown away and replaced with Uprising.
So who runs a Beta and then drops a completely different yet hilariously broken game? CCP/Shanghai of course, cause they is the uniquest Devs in the world. And Leet. Can't forget their Leetness.

hell ya im xamn close too i hav a ps4 i only used mabey 4 times because it has no dust...... theres been a lot of booing about planetside on these forums....... but honestly ive been playing dust awhile now and nothing looks new planetside looks so much cleaner and crisp............. i have currently 212 consecutive dust days played when planet side is released that number may never go up one more as i would cease to play

I got my ps4 a little over a month ago, haven't touch Dust since... even my dust die hard rl friend stopped playing the game for now. Said he was tired of doing the same thing over and over again. Honestly, I might try it again once every few months; however, with watchdogs and destiny preorder... my interest might never come back, not sure when planetside2 is going to be released, but when it does, dust is going to have to do something pretty incredible if it wants to pull me back.

Well, this one is concerning me for a while now. Why does this game look so awful? Have you ever see other shooters on the PS3? I know itGÇÖs not a gaming PC but hell they all look a lot better.
The sound is annoying in a lot of weapons sounds like toys from the 90s and the repetitive sound glitches makes it even worse.
Cloaks.
BoyGǪ DonGÇÖt get me started on this bullshGǪ ONE proto scout taking half the squad with remote explosives, shotguns and runs away? Run games like 27/1 31/1 and so on. Brilliant idea CCP! Balance this somehow to a more enjoyable level. And yes we had scanners and midslot modules against cloak.

Why the hell canGÇÖt we trade in Dust? And when will we be able to trade between EVE and Dust? Come on! Trade for merc to merc is essential!
No diversity: The Maps.
ItGÇÖs the same thing, over and over again. A view might say: GÇ£Well playing the same map and mod in BF4 is boring as wellGÇ¥. But itGÇÖs somehow not. Somehow every match feels different, and somehow the joy stays a lot longer. I can only explain this by the diversity of things you can do on a map. Let this wall collapse, blow up a bridge, camp this hill, and hide in this bush. Apropos bush, why is there as good as no vegetation? It could make the maps more interesting, even the desserts in BF4 are more interesting and more GÇ£livingGÇ¥ then this little grass things on the ground.
There Patch 1.8 is nothing special in our eyes, and since we are talking honest here: This should have been there, right from the start, even in the beta. Like a lot of other things. We hope that you have something extra ordinary special to present during the FanFest and the you will release it in a very short time after that.
After all this criticism let me tell you what we like about this game.
We like the persistence and the potential longevity. A lot of us are sick and tired of every year a new CoD or other FPS. We would like GÇ£to lock jaws into somethingGÇ£. We like the future setting. We like the New Eden setting (after all, half of us still plays EVE). We like the potential (if you donGÇÖt **** it up). We like the art and style.
See you not on the ground.
Please donate to the PPCC for the purchase of clone packs. Your ISK won't be used for anything but the funding of PC attacks.
Donate ISK to me and help fund PC change! We CAN take PC back & allow smaller corps to have a chance at having a home.

Well with PvE supposedly coming this year maybe that will be good. I haven't really played Dust since October, did one match a during January, that's the most I could do without losing interest.

We can only hope and bother CCP to get this game to become an MMO-FPS, hopefully CCP Rouge has gotten things going and has made plenty of progress since he took over. I wonder what he'll be asked in that interview and if he'll give any hints as to what's going to be released. Not just how it's been since he took over.

2000 players to 1 map grand scale and it works, not broken like dust. Also to the person who said he was excited for Elder Scrolls online, sorry, but the game is garbage. You can check Angry Joe's review on youtube for more details.

Dust looks surprisingly good considering the amount of stuff they have had to cram in on the little memory the PS3 has. All those other shooters are way smaller in size or have a lower player count.
Considering the amount of unique looking suits they have and all the vehicles plus the decent size of some of the maps and the fact there is 32 players. Don't really know why you're expecting anything more. Only so much memory. What they've done is pretty surprising.

after watching the interview I hope that the "shocking new" will be a better Dust on PS4 and not on PC. I would hate CCP for bringing this game to the PC after we sacrificed pieces of sanity playing and beta testing this "game".

A smaller player count? You can hop on MW2, which was released years ago and find that there are more ppl who still play that game than Dust in it's prime.

I know i have done better, I'm a PROTO min scout but i don't believe the cloaking is an effective use of the extra slot cause other equipment gets me more WP in a game. I think my best game kill wise is 44/7. To be an effective scout you should keep moving, the cloak doesn't really work well for that kind of play. The cloak has really just made it easier for people to spawn camp. For the most part i feel like the cloak has become the tool of the KD concerned losers who used to snipe before it got nerfed.

I love how people criticise 27-1, as though you should be able to kill the entire enemy team solo, with no deaths. They seem to think this would be a reasonable gameplay outcome.

Sure. But, I also qualified it with "way smaller in size". Which MW2 is. Way smaller. Smaller player count, smaller maps and no vehicles. With less content. No where near the character model variety. |

Mag. Sure. That is the only example. And that was a game designed, from the ground up, with 256 players in mind. I also don't know anything about their server infrastructure.
There is also a reason games don't have insanely high player counts. Doesn't work out too well from a logistical standpoint. Testing those maps must have been a complete nightmare for the dev team. The amount of people needed is crazy.
If you can link me to a video with maps, for MAG, that isn't just grey buildings, I'd agree on the color spectre comment. But, I can't see it. |

Ruining the game for basically everyone and all they do is blame CCP which is pathetic. Its there own fault and all they are doing is running the game into the ground. i currently hate, even loathe the way this game is being played. if it's not a full team of cloaky shotgunners, it's 10 heavies and 6 logis. If not that, then a mix of the two. Assaults are rare, few and far between. Commando's exist, but are almost smothered by the scouts/sentinels.
Then theres tanks. I could QQ so much about this game it would make anyone not even wanna try it out.
But the thing is.. I still play it. because I have some faith left in CCP. Granted, said faith is teetering on the edge, with the upcoming Fanfest as either a helping hand to save it from plummeting, or the anchor that sends it hurling off into oblivion.
but I still haven't given up. this Fanfest is CCP's chance to inspire, and reignite hope. I really hope they succeed. for their sake, and mine. |

Faith is what makes my DarkSouls2 character a beast. Ups wrong topic.
Faith is what keeps the games of CCP alive. This even counts for EVE, and this game is very advanced.
This FanFest is the last chance to make Dust 514 interesting and attractive again and it has to happened fast and not like in a half year. After the last FanFest a lot of us believed that in the months to come the game will become whole but nothing of this happens, we literately just got a view suits and weapons. Some suits are still missing and we still only have two heavy weapons.
I have to stop here or this will become a wall of text :)

Dust 514 having as much longevity of CoD.
With the beta of Destiny approaching and the major titles for the PS4 launching soon, where exactly does that leave Dust now huh? The irony is that I'm not like CEO Pyrex saying 95% of the players are good. This page alone half of you are kind of being pretty much a@@holes about it despite the fact it's a legitimate issue being brought up. Because hey guess what, if people leave and not enough are coming in, then bye~bye game!

The games been out for over a year and Aurum as a money grab isn't having the same effect as when the game first came out. FPS games for the PS like MAG and Resistance 2 didn't run into these issues; it was with MAG simply one weapon considered the imbalanced factor. Not bad overall for a game who allows 256 players on a map and had features that seamed to somehow be amiss in Dust.
Players start out needing vacations then just leave all together and then someone goes "why I love this game". It's because it doesn't understand that a year of adding content and not actually placing a value on basic working mechanics is more valuable than cloaks, rail guns or any other item addition. I just had my worse game day of all; all to proto wpns and suits. I just get kill assist pts but I mean really when you see someone using a Six Kins, someone out there is having a far worse game.
And no it's far from the "skill level" or such that some players like to use as a blanket justification. It's the huge gap between constantly active veterans versus non-active, casual and beginning players. That's what makes Dust a joke of sorts; it's a perpetual constant universe that's just constantly going in the wrong direction. Developers make the game but players are killing it; sure lets just flame the legitimate complaints and problems because white-knighting is so much better than having an honest debate about what's really broken here and for how long.

Yup it's not gonna be a sandbox MMO-FPS, I don't think I even want to watch their next presentation for Dust tomorrow. It's probably going to mostly be about Legion only.

Oh, I've already left. I've just come back to the forums to see the reaction to this whole mess.
Can you really look at the events of the last few months, and say that the people predicting the demise of this game were "entitled brats"? The people who claimed this supposedly released game was in fact a beta? It looks like they were pretty spot on. Even the VP of Product Development for CCP has admitted this game isn't very good.

Which is what they're trying to fix, and decidedly couldn't do on the PS3 due to technical limitations and issues with quick turnarounds on updates on said platform.
Everything, including assets and skills in whatever form CCP decides will be best to fit what will hopefully be the new form of this game, is going to be transferred over. No one loses anything unless they just completely refuse to play on a PC, to which I say you have an entire year and were able at some point to pay for a PS3: Start saving already. Even in college I would've been able to build one of my own while I was poor if I had really wanted to build a half-decent gaming computer.
For most companies, this would be considered one of the nicest things the company could do for it's consumers when it realized that it was no longer able to support a given platform for what they needed to do. So yes, entitled brats fits perfectly with those throwing a fit just because it might be transferring to PC. |

People had been assured constantly for a year that CCP was standing behind dust, that they were laser focused on the PS3, that they had tons of content being developed, that they... well you get the idea.
No, the way the game is today is primarily due to CPM feedback. The CPM thought that the redone tanks were ok, the CPM thought that the community was too small for matchmaking, the CPM wanted legion for PC.
The community wanted AV v vehicle BALANCE
The community wanted some type of matchmaking
The community wanted full racial content
The community wanted Dust to migrate to the PS4.

I am trying to understand how anyone could get so upset over a "free game". I , for one, am happy to fight with my corp mates on this "free game". The fact that I have have made so many friends internationally, really blows my mind. ON A "FREE GAME". I think if you sink money into a "free game" your foolish. Everyone in our corp is disappointed at what is probably happening to Dust, but we will continue to play and have fun with each others company until the end. The fact that CCP made promises about the longevity of the game did not come to fruition is dissappointing but it is a business they have to run, and I bet there are employees the have to pay. That's my personal decision. If I was that upset with CCP and Dust, I would have left these forums without a goodbye thread/announcement. I would be playing some other game like I have done for 26 years of my life. And all would be forgotten.
It's really not that serious to me and I don't like how people are in here trying to persuade people to feel differently. It's childish and immature. Now if you agree to that, fine. That's just who you are as a person. But's that not me.

The truth? So you never really loved the game like I did. You never paid for playing it either. You never got inspired as I did by CCP's ideas. Think my descision of biomassing my 40 million SP character (No alts even) was easy? Me and a few in the community have spread the word of DUST like no other player.. and that was purely for the love and vision of CCP. But like so many other true veterans I do feel fkd over now. And as a man of principles (something you'll learn about once you get older and stop with stupid LOL based personal attacks). If you didnt notice I didnt make a thread when I quit. It was a silent protest as I felt big shame for having made people who watched the stream buy a PS3 simply for DUST. And another thing... Since I did pay quite an amount of money and time for this game for then to feel royally fkd....how could it ever be easy to leave the forums just because I "dont play it anymore?" You really cant grasp the bigger issue here? I've wanted a game like DUST+EVE ever since playing Elite. Legion is coming sure, but CCP havent really reassured the PS3 crowd of anything.

In less then 5 Days the destiny lauches the beta, I will be there to see if it's fit for me.
What I have seen from the alpha is that the PVE experience is great(!) it will be a lot of fun, that is sure.
The PVP looked very nice balanced, but I don't like the "arena style" of maps, it reminded me a lot of CoD bullshit.
And there is no open world pvp, and I don't think that there will be room for this.
BUT(!) it was just a Alpha, lets wait and see how the full game turns out. Even with this half pvp experience, the PVE coop and other "theme park stuff" that bungie made, you can have a lot of fun with friends while waiting tor Ubisoft "The Division".
PS: I haven't played Dust for 4 months, and I don't miss it. Still I hope PJ will make it's way sooner on the PS4, and not a year after the the PC launch.
PPS: Am I still angry at CCP? Yes, yes I am. If some one is asking me about CCP products, the first thing I'm telling them is the story of the rouge wedding.
@The Jungian, No Man's Sky is on my radar as well, lets see how this turns out.
