OP: think of it as CCP giving you the skill on layaway for 50% down and 0% interest for as long as it takes to pay back. If that was a car in real life, you'd have a hell-of-a-deal. i'd rather just not have have the proto scout since i don't use it i just didn't want to skill into it later. Wait, what? You didn't even want proto? Then why did you spec that far into it in the first place? By the way, this issue was posted in the forums on the first day. This is standard procedure to read the issues thread before doing anything in the new update.
What he is actually saying is that he spent the SP before the SP multiplier got raised because he hoped that CCP would fix the multiplier and let people just keep the skills for free.
So he tried to take advantage, got burned, and now wants CCP to correct his greed for him to his benefit.

But I am unhappy for that exact reason.
I am concerned that with my initial investment into the role would have seen a significantly lesser investment of my SP into the role.
As I have explained during my SP allocation I was not unwilling to skill into scouts, but I had set myself a limit on SP spent to ensure I would not skill excessively.... additionally I did not expect CCP to have such trouble in the implementation of correct skill modifiers.... as such in full I ended spending more SP than I was willing to leaving me with less in my pool that I was specifically saving.
That is my issue. That SP was never intended to have been spent. As I was not aware of the issues with the scouts until reading the hot fix patch and made aware than more SP was going t be taken from me equivalent to a further 1 million SP I feel as though I have been somewhat cheated out of SP that if presented as skill costs to me intially would have resulted in a more reserved application of SP.
I am not wholly concerned with having SP into scouts however I would like the opportunity to realocate the SP spent on Scout Operation IV and V as those are the bulk of total SP spent and it was on those skills the modifier has maximum effect.
So you budgeted how much SP you were going to spend, but when the price for the Amarr scout came in under budget you didn't stop and find out why?
If you had a budget, that means you know what a proto racial suit costs. If you had only budgeted for an advacned scout but went to proto because it magically cost less than it should, that is on you.
If the scout is your only suit, then you are probably FotM chasing, and I don't feel bad.
If the scout isn't your only suit than you know exactly what a suit should cost and should have known better.

They posted the info on day one in the technical section of the forums. We all knew there will be bugs so that was the first place we all went to before spending the SP on anything. I maxed out my Amarr scout suit as well but I was smart enough to save the extra SP until CCP charges the difference. So far, i'm still in the positive.

Xander said he didn't know it was a 4x multiplier.
What I infer from that is that he wanted an Amarr Scout anyway and spent the SP without reading the info.
If he had checked the info he would have seen that it wasn't a normal 12x multiplier. That would have tipped him off to the bug.
They are not blaming people for anything.
If you spent SP to get Amarr scout level 5, CCP figures you still want it, and adjusted the price to what it should have been.
If you didn't want the Amarr scout, but thought you could get a proto scout suit for half price, then enjoy your suit that you tried exploit to get, you got what you deserved.

No one in this thread tried to exploit anything.......an honest mistake on our part that is being IMO severely punished for a mistake the poor presentation of the skill directly contributed to.

How are you being punished?
You chose to skill into Amarr scout 5. No one made you skill into it, you chose to do so because seemingly you wanted acess to the proto suit.
That suit costs 2.4 million SP.
You paid 2.4 million SP for it.
Whatever you spent the other 1.2 million SP on you still got those benefits as well.
You basically got 1.2 million SP for free for a couple of weeks use.
You didn't get punished you got rewarded. What they should have done was strand you at level 4, and let you re earn the 5 when ever you wanted to. The only reason that didn't happen is that it wouldn't work out evenly for people who only skilled to level 3.
You didn't get punished, you just got forced to pay what you should have paid, and because you no longer got a deal you feel ripped off.

Still, a five minute visit to the forums via a smartphone or a nearby computer or through your PS3 would have alerted you to the issue and save you a whole 3-4 weeks of extra grinding.

Now that I have had a further 900K removed from my pool after the fact..... this is not SP I would have spent on any suit or core upgrades field.

Its more like you paid for something and was told later you actually under paid for it, not necessarily being directly your fault and now have to pay for it instead of returning it.

If CCP isn't giving the option to refund the SP they took away they should be upfront and give the people affected the option to refund the entire Amarr Scout dropsuit tree so they can reinvest it somewhere else. In fact why they didn't just do that in the first place doesn't make sense. It is the logical thing to do. |

indeed that is a concern. We forum goers may be the more active and dedicated portion of the community....but we are not necessarily the biggest....... if we want to take it further issues like this should be presented and explain to players on their consoles through the notice board or highlights when the game is started, not just on the forums.

There was no warning for the average player, who does NOT visit the forums likely, before spending all their SP. No emails, not pop ups upon sign on, nothing nada zip. Gives a big big clue as to how they view us as customers. They think we are stupid and will just give in and go along with what they say. To a degree some will because they are either stupid or CCP suck ups. The rest will just deal with the bad taste in their mouths by not purchasing any AUR or funding the developers further. If the devs can live with a reduced cash flow by all means keep the decision and be anti-consumer. Everything you said is completely wrong.
It wasn't a "business decision" for starters.
The only people who didn't have any warning were players that had never put any SP into racial suits before and had no idea that it was supposed to be an 8x skill. There is zero excuse for anyone else to not have noticed it required half as much SP as every other racial suit in the game has cost the since racial suits were first introduced. Not once has that value ever changed.
They don't think you are stupid. In fact this whole mess started because they thought you were smart enough to be able to figure out something was wrong before dumping your SP into it. In retrospect that was a mistake.
Everything else you said is just plain nonsense.
