20%?!? CCP does not seem to simply tweak but overdo every single change. I mean look how long it took to get the HMG right and it's been around for quite a while now. Please, CCP, if you want to change the HP, please go like 10% max and see how that goes rather than overdoing it.
BTW, why does CCP not have a problem with Scouts that have close to 1,000 HP but can also cloak fior further defense?

The problem isn't the heavy HP, it's the HMG... I guess no one from CCP saw my post from 1.7, anyway... it's too late now and they are screwing up the heavy completely.

The HMG has no issues; it does what it's supposed to do at CQC which is slaughter everything in it's path but can't kill efficiently anything farther than 20 meters. It's so bad with the HMG and distances over 20 meters that, at it's optimal it's optimal of 31 meters at proto level, it's only doing 50% of it's actual damage because of dispersion. If the HMG is nerfed all the rail rifle heavies will come back and they will be able to kill you at 50+ meters with ease.
If the heavy suit is nerfed, they might as well not have given us the bonus resistances top damage types. The Heavy suit nor the HMG are the problem. The problem lies with overall balance of heavies being able to use Light weaponry efficiently. But that's for another topic.

People complain about the Heavy being OP right now, yet no one seems to complain about the super-speed Shotgun Scouts that can 3-shot a Heavy, have nearly 1000eHP and their Cloaking fields that render them silent. Cloak, run around and find a Heavy, drop cloak, shoot the Heavy 3 times until dead, re-cloak and flee. Repeat before the Cloak needs to recharge. Heavy shoots back? HMG does no damage due to bugged hit detection.
Who's idea was it to give the Scouts 2 Equipment slots yet they removed the same thing from Assaults during the Uprising patch so that they didn't clash with Logi suits?
Right now, a Heavy's HP means nothing since we lose upto 25% of both our armour and shields the moment we spawn due to the damn de-sync glitch. On top of that, we're not even invulnerable between spawn and decloak now, so camping Cloaked Shotgunners can pick us off at CRU before we can even blink since shooting a cloaked Heavy as they spawn drops their cloak while the Scout can throw theirs on and run away under fire. This isn't an issue limited to Heavies but damn do we suffer for it.
So yeah, never mind that we only have 2 Heavy Weapons to pick from, one anti-infantry and one AV, with no A-I weapons which are effective against Shields (we have t make do with Flux Grenades.) Never mind that our only AV option was nerf'd to hell to the point where Tankers slap on a Hardener and laugh at the Heavy tickling them or Dropship pilots hit orbital height before you can charge a second shot. Never mind that a Heavy is slow moving, reps slow and needs a Logi or two be effective. Never mind that the Forge Gun is bugged to the point that it won't even fire. The Heavy obviously needs to lose a huge amount of HP so the Assault players can feel better and kill them easier.

Minmatar heavy needs an hp BUFF. I charged knifed one earlier and poof dead.. (0 proficiency, zn nova knives, gal scout, no dmg mod) why are all minmatar suits terrible besides the scout *begins rant*

I had a similar experience. I am now a Gallente heavy and I was in a match last night guarding a point. A medium frame came at me and did some damage. I took him down and grabbed some cover while my repper did it's thing.
Another came at me with the same result, and then a third, all the while slowly taking down more HP than my repper could recover. Finally 3 came at me at once. Two engaged me head on while the other flanked me from the left. I was barely able to take down the closest enemy in front of me while the other and the flanker took me down. I have to say, this was a very satisfying engagement.
Even though I died... I WAS SUPPOSED TO DIE!! It "made sense"! They used tactics to overwhelm me rather than one lone medium frame outgunning my 2400 rpm HMG in cqc. I felt like I was actually doing what a heavy is supposed to do, namely absorb a lot of damage, deal a lot of damage, and yes, fall in the face of overwhelming opposition and smart tactics.
In other matches I was also out ranged by CRs, RRs and ARs, done in while reloading, and yes, shotgunned to death in the back by cloaked scouts. While these were all frustrating deaths, they all, once again, "made sense".
I really like the new heavy frames. And the heavy role feels more right than it has in a long time. Please CCP, don't nerf it into wrong-dom again. |

Even if we can't stop the nerf from taking pace, we can at least try and reduce the amount of HP we lose.
If CCP were to remove the HP in small amounts, like 5% max per hotfix, they could see how things play out using actual play data from across the server and then decide if another reduction or a buff (if they overshot the mark) is needed to bring Heavies in-line.

I hope the nerf never happens. My hopes for this game are getting thin. Not because of the heavies but all the the thing that dont get fixed because attention is misplaced.

Edit: This is why I took that dropsuit command refund and specced into everything caldari. Because, I like shields and without fail the light/medium/heavy triangle is always in flux.
If you are referring to the video they put out a while back, that was clearly the Commando suit (see the fitting in the vid) and not the Sentinel.
No light weapons for Sentinels? Yep, I like it. Would also push heavies to skill into Commando for the more open maps (Manus Peak and Line Harvest for example). |
