copy pasting from what i just put on pyrexs latest video
adding to the PvE thing, doing PvE in different security systems should make missions harder/ better rewards or easier/ worse rewards, basically just copy lvl 1-4 security missions, when you take a squad in to a lvl 4 - you infiltrate a complex and have to shut down a rogue AI unit, say it takes you an hour to complete, but its so hard you get paid like 5mil or more isk, you get a lot more players if the game were like that, just look at War Frame, then also lets add an Unreal deathmatch gamemode since we are using UDK, everyone uses free stuff, STD level only, Free for all and TDM and Capture the flag, other players can watch, NO rewards, just purely to prove whos better, think of how many people would watch that, and players who would stream as well, there really is so much for them to do, but they seem to be going at it the wrong way |

I for example don't like the Warframe PVE. I played this game only a little and it's getting very boring very fast (for me at last). Killing drones and sunshas, hacking, carrying heavy stuff around, escort, and other stuff should be mixed in a interesting way. Random loot for killing stuff would be nice as well. Random loot makes other games addicting and interesting as hell. Having boss mob would be nice as well.
The PVE should be co-op oriented, heavy stuff but have a intelligent scaling. Like if you have a 3 or 5 person squads but same mission, the difficulty could scale by choice and the loot and payout should scale as well.
You could even copy/past some eve missions and ideas. Like that you first have to find key cards to progress or having rare mobs drop keycards to rare missions. Random drops could be meta stuff, "isk drops", rare minerals, limited implants (like running 10% faster for 10 hours, 12%/12h, 18%/18h you get my point?
My EVE pilot have more ISK then your peon corp.

I got stuck trying to climb a hill. Does that qualify for PVE?
Jokes aside, I'd like PVE to be somewhat challenging. Have a swarm of drones come at you at once. Maybe just one or two massive ones that takes a whole squad to eliminate. |

Oh man while Warframe has issues, it has some great moments! Play it on PC - have plenty of the rare weapons n ****.
There are some things CCP could take from warframe regarding co-op PVE. The PVP is sucky but thats not really what the game is about.
I would LOVE to have rare bosses! (Or officers as we call them in the EVE universe for all intents and purposes) |

Pyrex did bring up the point that PVE will remove people from PVP. He also mentioned team play PVE. Going off those two points this is what I'm currently thinking.
PVP should be the only place to earn accelerated SP. That will be the motivation to PVP for those that would disappear forever into PVE.
Here is what we have today:
Public PVP: pays in ISK, accelerated SP and a bit of loot.
Public PVP-FW: pays in LP, accelerated SP and more loot.
Corporate PVP-PC: pays in accelerated SP, even more loot and the conquest of districts.
Now add in PVE:
Solo PVE-Infestation: A single player mode intended let a player learn how to control their mercenary or try out new fittings. It pays in ISK only.
Squad PVE-Infestation: A squad based mode over a larger area. It pays in ISK only and better per mercenary than the solo mode. This could provide the start of also providing the 'resource' that is sold to the capsuleers or maybe ties into something bigger for mercenaries.
Team PVE-Infestation: A team based mode that requires coordination and a good balance of vehicle and infantry work. This should pay the best in ISK and resources.
Later in PVE:
All three levels of combat versus AI controlled soldiers. You could have FW missions that pay in LP and pirate missions that pay in ISK. This would be a good place to add in boarding party style operations.
Later in PVP:
All the maps, terrains, and AI controlled enemies could be rolled back into PVP. Two corporations hire mercenary teams to control a Rogue Drone Hive Mind. Not only do you have to fight off the enemy team but you have to deal with the rogue drones at the same time. A PVP-FW mission pops up to take over a planetary defense relay. The defending team has a company of supporting infantry but they must keep losses below a certain level in addition to protecting the objectives. Have civilians in various types of matches that cause various penalties if killed during fighting.
So much potential.

There was a graphics card demo video that came out just before DUST hit closed beta. It showed what looked like a Minmatar Assassin/Infiltrator doing his thing in an enemy facility. That would make a slick single player or small team mission. Theft or assassination missions for the scouting types. What other role based missions could there be?

I want PvE that mirrors PvE from Eve. Give us missions we can run for standings with different NPC corps, allow us to sign on to help defend civilians during Incursions (think Nightmare difficulty Infestation mode peppered with Noncombatants that you get penalized for killing). Allow us to roam common areas and police them for criminals (our version of Belt Ratting), let us stumble across criminal hideouts and rogue drone hives (our version of Anoms).
However, most of all, if we get PvE, we NEED to get PvEvP. In some cases it should be as easy as "Hey, there is some mercs over there engaging rogue drones, let's go **** them up and steal their loots", though there should also be some PvE that requires some form of work on the behalf of the invader, something where they need to scan down the sig and actually track the targets/victims. The targets should have an opportunity to notice that they're being scanned too and be given the opportunity to either set a trap or somehow evade their hunters. I am not saying that they should be handed this information, just that it should be available (kinda like using Dscan to notice the guy who is about to invade your mission, it isn't freely given, though it is available if you're looking for it).
I know that is a lot of different stuff to ask for, though I believe that the variety of selection is what will allow PvE to be a welcome addition which will lead to the game blooming (hopefully).

+1 for PvEvP.
After rewatching that video it looks a lot like New Eden. Minmatar infiltrator with dreadlocks, cloaking, combat rifle and knife skills. It looks like a rogue drone factory too being run by the Caldari.

Two types of PVE;
1) Mission PVE: PVE where all players are friendly. Basically your High Sec PVE. Good for getting new players oriented to DUST combat.
2a) Open District PVE: You que into a district as an individual or as a squad. Max 32 players in a district, or whatever the game can handle. Squad members are Green. Corp & Alliance members are Blue. Everyone else is yellow, until they shoot you, your squad, or your Corp/Alliance, at which point they turn Red for 5 minutes. (Oh, yeah, and there are Drone infestations. That is what you are officially supposed to be there for.)
2b) Open Corporate District PVE: Corp members can enter districts owned by their Corp to hunt drones.
Mercs from other Corps can raid PC Districts. Cap on raiders is 12, and cap on defenders is 20, to give a home field advantage and to make it feel like a raid. Raiders donGÇÖt have clones on the surface, and Drop Uplinks donGÇÖt have the range to bring clones in from orbit. So raiders spawn about 500 m off the ground and have some control of their horizontal drift until they activate their inertial dampeners. If a CRU on the surface is hacked it gives the raiders access to 50 clones and the use of Drop Uplinks until those clones are used up.
Raiders can hunt drones or hunt PVEGÇÖers. Raiding should weaken a districts defences, but not dramatically, and definitely not flip a district.
No time limit, but Raiders and Corp members are kicked out when a PC battle starts.

I'm afraid the lobby style was created as a tech demo and turned into the one and only mode for DUST. All districts should be persistent with drop-in ability. If you want a fight then you need to have your team MCC bring in whatever supplies you think you'll need, including CRUs, vehicles and the RDVs to deploy them. The more I think about what DUST could have been the more irritated I become.

Here's a link to a thread I started on how PvE should be done in DUST. In short, we would be on wrecks in space scanned down by EVE pilots, fighting drones and competing merc teams. It's worth reading if you're interested in PvE. I'd love to hear any feedback in the linked thread if you have any thoughts.

The first hack awakens a giant mechanical beast that crawls out of the ground. The first half of the game is spent getting a merc on its back to hack the objective in order to deactivate it, or maybe alie it with your team, kinda like a rampaging null cannon. It just wouldn't feel right if there wasen't a PvPvE to go with PvE.

I would love having a MASSIVE variety drones: Swarm of tiny drones that slow shield recharge and do continuous damage. Giant spider drone the size of a building, requiring several tanks to take down. Vehicular drones like hovertanks and hoverbikes with mounted guns. Cloaked assassin drones. Giant worm drones.
I would love a PVPVE mode Where 2 competing merc teams from different employers try to hack and take control of a district from some drones, and drones should be able to take back the objectives.

I wat the drone infestation mode to work in a simila rway to the Onslaught mode from Bad Company 2 for those who don't know you start at a point in the map and have to work your way to an objective defending the point from constant stream of enemies (drones) before clearing them out and moving onto the next section until ou cleared the level out.
i also want the drone salvage to be used to allow us to build stuff from the BPOs and to open up a full item BPO store (for AUR) as well as the skills Manufacturing (+1 manufacturing job per level) and Manufacturing Efficiency (10% per level to manufacturing jobs) this way our BPOs consume items and it offers new players a chance to use 'free' suits and also gain extra income by buying bpos and selling on market. it also opens up a great option for corps to entice noobies b offerign welcome packages for joining the corp.
and yes peopel have said "but oh no that may be too complicated" my response? but isn't anythign complicated in New Eden if you've never done it? how do you think us EVE players got on in th epast? we experimented and passed knowledge on just as we do now when a new plaer asks about fittings, roles and how to fit up a suit or tank.
I have manufacturing experience in EVE and so witht hat knowledge i can pass it on to my corp but really how hard is it to figure out you need
BPO Materials listed in bpo. select factory. select the BPO Select amount (liek market works out the fit build this works out the material bill) Hit start and wait a day for your goodies.

leadership could render some things a bit OP but if done right would make squad leader choice vital. i have all lv5 in leadership and commandships (all 4 races) at level 5 on my EVE char and ou can make a good fleet great witht he right choice.
but yeah teh trade and production skills could pretty much be moved straight over. I've said the same about the dropsuits and weapons havign the ame damage tpes/resistances as the ships in EVE in order to finally help balance weapons correctly instead of just a flat +/- 10-20% we have now. and ou could even include resistance plating to really help assault/heavy guys out

Raiding should weaken a district's defenses, but not dramatically, and definitely not flip a district.
No time limit, but Raiders and Corp members are kicked out when a PC battle starts.
Edit: Might have to drop those caps to 6 attackers and 12 defenders. I was not taking Drones into account when I was considering how many active units would be on the field. I like this, PvE ought to include pirates as well as Drones... that's just me though.

I thought that the whole point of Leadership skills was to make things OP.
Besides, it would help drive home the importance of Teamwork.
Only tweaks I'd make to the Leadership skills if it were up to me would be as follows:
Information Warfare: 2% bonus to Scan Precision/Range Skirmish Warfare: 2% bonus to Movement Speed
Skirmish warfare would end up increasing Sprint speed as well by virtue of increasing movement speed. Make them effective across the entirety of the map as well, just as Leadership bonuses work across the entirety of the Solar System in Eve.
I doubt that the leadership skills would make things OP until we got Links and Command Dropsuits/Vehicles

They would have to create buy orders and currier contracts to get the materials moved to their system, but if enough of them started doing it, EVE pilots would start selling minerals at the 48 DUST stations, just because there would be a market there.

the materials to build dust items would only be available from the Drone Infestation is Dust. the markets will be merged eventually but at first things could be done just as the MCC/Warbarges are done, automatically. you put a sell order up and mercs in dust can buy from any station and its transffered via NPC 'means' until a full system is implimented that relies on you having EVE pilots in corp ship things for dust mercs. there are a lot of things slightly different in dust which can be used to bypass 'proper' ways. just look at how Warbarges will eventually be flown by an EVE pilot yets atm we're magically tansported to system/planet, the same applies to markets for the time being

Its meant to give ou an advantage not make OP but yeah if a few changes were done right they could help promote more teamwork and get more bluedots in squads in pub matches. the main ones that would need ot be looked at are siege and armored warfare. any increase to HP of each could be unbalanced but maybe armored warfare reduces the movement penalty of armor plates for all squad members and siege increases shield recharge rate?

In short, we would be on wrecks in space scanned down by EVE pilots, fighting drones and competing merc teams. It's worth reading if you're interested in PvE. I'd love to hear any feedback in the linked thread if you have any thoughts. I would love to see this on the roadmap. It is a bit ambitious for phase 1 though. Yes and no. In some respects it may be easier to code than other ideas. Smaller maps and rendering interiors might be much less resource-intensive on the hardware than big open maps, and you won't have the sniper LOS issues for the map designers to work out. The biggest challenge will be getting the drone AI right, which would be an issue on any PvE mode they design. Not to mention this would add some truly unique and interesting gameplay to EVE as well, which it could really benefit from with upcoming competitors.
I would rather see PvE done right than hastily rushed out and be underwhelming just because players are bored with PvP. Anyways if you have any feedback, I'd be grateful if you could post in my thread (it could use a bump).

No just something atmospheric rather than a generic PvE mode....randomise the scenario...something you find nothing. Other time enemies, other times something a bit more unique....
Something hard too. One single life per player with tough enemies.....that would be pulse pounding.

Eve players (or NPC factions) should hire Dust Mercs. If completing a PVE in Dust means that Eve Character can gain sovereignty status of a system faster, or gain a bonus to production for a time if they hire the mercs the players would be initiating the PVE missions.
This would also give Dust an appropriate commodity to sell on Eve Markets: Mercenary contracts. Eve players and Dust planetary district holders would designate what they want done, and on the market screen Dust players could select them.

A sort of "Beach-head" PvE Drone infestation mode wouldn't be too hard to implement right now (hindered only by the lack of AI and drones) using everything that is already in the game.
A team is "Smart Deployed" and has to locate and capture a CRU. Until they do, no new clones are available. The installations are red from the outset (and so invisible until spotted/scanned), and the CRUs spawn drones every few minutes.
The way it plays out in my head is an initial scramble with slight enemy resistance at first, that increases as the mission timer runs, followed by a tipping point when the players capture enough CRUs to stem the tide. The mission would end once the last CRU was hacked. Amp the difficulty by using MCC deployment and having red null cannons at mission commencement which must be shut down.
PvEvP? Squads are automatically allied with their squad-mates, but not with other squads or loneberries. A BIG map, with multiple initial drop zones = Profit?

My suggestion for PvE using existing maps/sockets (with a few tweaks):
Using a Skirmish mode, at the start of the match all the null cannons are owned by the drones, the team then has to clear the null cannon and capture it before moving on to the next. Once all null cannons are captured they begin to "flip" back to drone control forcing the team to retake them and fight more drones.
There is a drone MCC and player MCC, first to destroy MCC wins, or if the drones clone the players. You cannot clone the drones.
- First wave of drones are lights (i.e. at the start of the match). - Second wave of drones when the null cannons begin to flip are a mix of lights/mediums. - Third wave of drones will be a mix of mediums/heavies. - etc.
Clearly certain sockets won't be usable (really CQC sockets), only "open" sockets.
There is no loot, just a decent amount of ISK as reward.
There are "levels" of difficulty for the dungeons which basically means there are higher number of spawns and the squad composition will be more mediums/heavies.
Thoughts?

You meant, getting killed without a chance of success by jovias? The highest technical race EVER! The whole shield technologies in eve is given to the empires from the jovias. We could learn more eve history, the dark ages, the jovias maybe, the lore and it does not really mater, as long as we can explore something new and interesting by collecting, scanning, hacking, running in ruins, digging up old artifacts and so on.
My EVE pilot have more ISK then your peon corp.

I want awesome futuristic battles in PvE!
Although I'd rather them fix the multiplayer (main game mode of Dust) first and finish releasing all of the "Soon(tm)" content. PvE would be boring with the lack of content, IMO. You'd be fighting AI drones/clones with the same ol' weapons, equipment and vehicles. I'd rather make kids cry in pubs while gaining SP and ISK.
Off topic: IMO, PvE should NOT generate ISK or SP. It would be too easy to exploit PvE for ISK and SP gains. If they were to include ISK and SP gain in PvE it should be so marginally low that players wouldn't pick PvE over PvP. This game already lacks player base, pulling them into PvE for easy ISK and SP would just lower the PvP player base even more. |

If you do it like in EVE, it's not going to be easy to exploit. Once you agree on a mission, you have a timer run out 24h and if you **** the mission up, or cancel it, or abort it, you will gain minus standing. There are missions that needs to be done in only a view minutes.
I don't care for this game any longer, like a lot of eve players we became forum fighters. So if there would be PVE, some would come back and try it. Your argument is more or less invalid, PVE would attract more players, and if PVP runs dry, it is because it sucks. So it's CCPs business to balance the importance. Like ISK in PVE and Bonus SP in PVP. Just an example.

I want PVE not to exist. It will be one of the most terrible PVE FPS (DUST just does not have great game mechanics) and will draw everyone away from FPS further fragmenting a small community.
I want PVE to be in the game only after good player count is reached and even then it should be on a timer - each character can do PVE only once every several hours.
Oh, sht! I just learned you can make a signature! Thanks, CCP! Forums are getting better!
