YOU KNOW THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SP RESPEC FOR 1.7 AND 1.8? FOR 1.7 THE ENTIRE SKILL TREE FOR VEHICLES GOT RESTRUCTURED. FOR 1.8 WE'RE GETTING NEW CONTENT + EXTRA SKILLS TO THE CURRENT SKILL TREE.
UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO AND YOU'LL KNOW WHY THERE'S LITTLE CHANCE FOR 1.8 SP RESPEC.

LOL NO SP RESPEC
YOU KNOW THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CHOOSING SKILLS WITH ONE BONUS AND HAVING IT AND THE SUIT REPLACED WITH SOMETHING ENTIRELY DIFFERENT? FOR THE REPLACEMENT, IT'S INVALIDATING YOUR CHOICE AND FORCING YOU TO PLAY WHAT THEY HAVE NOW DECIDED UPON. FOR A REFUND YOU'D BE ALLOWED TO ACTUALLY MAKE AN INFORMED CHOICE INSTEAD OF BEING FORCED TO REMAIN WITH SOMETHING THAT MAY NOT BE WHAT YOU GOT INTO THE SUIT FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE.
UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO AND YOU'LL KNOW WHY PEOPLE WHO DON'T SUPPORT REFUNDS DURING MASSIVE OVERHAULS ARE SPACTARDS.
That will be all. |

Well apparently you don't understand it completely either or you wouldn't be calling what happened in 1.7 a respec...
It was a skill point REFUND.
They refunded skillpoints for skills that no longer existed. Plain and simple. Players need to get terms right for real meaning to be accomplished. Words do in fact mean things and using cute terms like "respec" improperly only muddies the arguments more.
In the meantime, please read and discuss things here:

if they weren't changing the bonuses on existing suits I might be inclined to agree with you however they are. that combine with the addition of racial heavies makes it worthwhile to give a dropsuit SP refund to me.

They also can't just stop with Dropsuit Command. They'll need to do the other two infantry trees if they do one.
I'm public in my anti-respec stance but I'd be cool with one last refund due to the sweeping changes just to shut people up. The only thing that makes me hesitate is that some players think this sets a precedence for it happening again when more items are added and things are balanced. CCP feels the exact same way.
What happens when racial heavy weapons are added? Respec!
Pilot suits? Respec! Bored? Respec! Your finely tuned 100% FOTM skill set is nerfed? Respec!
I think CCP won't give one because the trees are not being changed.

The entitlement some people obviously feel is amazing. Tell me, how much is your monthly subscription to Dust?
Go look at the Eve forums around whenever an expansion comes out. We don't keep moaning about how the game's changed so much and we want our SP back so we can play the role we want. We look at the stats, look at our skills and what we want to do and we play around with fittings so we can do what we want.
Will I use a respec/refund/ whatever if they give it? Yes, I'd be stupid not to. Do I feel entitled to one? Hell no.

I had no idea DUST played anything like EVE. Wow, I should just run out to a belt and do some mining, maybe go clear up some rats or just fly around looking for people to troll. Let me just unlock a host of new suits with a single skill and go run some cool scams in a trade hub local while I'm scanning the market for good trade opportunities. Nope, guess I'll just go plexing for a while, stop some Incursions, maybe go infiltrate some null sec space just for giggles.

There's a difference between entitlement and expectation.
Entitlement essentially means that you have a right to something: I'd guess that most of the people that want a skill refund with the dropsuit skill changes are not feeling entitled to a refund, but feel that it would engender a lot of goodwill because it is an enormous shift in what we have been looking at. We are not merely looking at additions to the line-up of suits and modules, but we're looking at a great overhaul of skills, module layouts, SP costs, ISK costs and, most importantly, [b]changes to our choices[/n]. We have all chosen certain things for certain reasons, some for roleplay reasons, some for power and many in between. Personally, I chose my Logistics suit (Gallente) back at the beginning of Uprising because it had the best Logi bonus (the 25% fitting reduction) so that I could support my squadmates the best. I've endured, as have many other Logibros, the torrent of abuse about being FOTM or that I'm overpowered. But the truth is that I chose what I chose because it was the best for doing what I wanted to do, which was support my team to the best of my ability. If the 1.8 update were simply adding suits that I suddenly wanted to go into I would not be adamant about a refund, but that is simply not the case: we are getting new suits (that should have been in from the beginning, bear in mind), new skills and having the rug pulled from under us with regards to the choices we have already made.
Instead, the majority of people calling for a refund of dropsuit skill points are expecting a refund because of the incredible upheaval that such an undertaking will have on not only the game but their own playstyles. Changing things so drastically means players need to reevaluate what they are wanting to do and the way they wish to go about it and providing a refund is the best way of doing so. |

So your point is that because a free, one year old game isn't as well developed as a ten year old game with thousands of monthly subscribers yet you should get SP back bcause you're too lazy to work out how to play the way you want to with the skills you already have? Because in terms of fitting dropsuits to complement your style, dust is pretty damn similar to fitting ships in eve so my point is actually valid.
Also, and this is a pretty minor point, all things considered, I'm not a man, I'm a woman, you really shouldn't make assumptions.

The point is that in EVE if some of your bonuses are jumbled around, you have PLENTY of other things to do still, and many of those skills will cross over to other playstyles.
This is not so in DUST. In DUST, you shoot the other dude, you heal that dude shooting the other dude, or you AFK. Those are your in game options. Changing everything up entirely invalidates some past decisions, it totally throws current builds out of wack (for better or worse), and when you are stuck in your single type of suit with your couple of guns game in and game out, it takes a significantly larger toll on a players enjoyment.

I'm sure it's been touched on, but they might as well of removed skills and replaced items with the reworking of bonuses and introduction of missing racial suits.
I'm all for not refunding weapon and dropsuit upgrade SP (although I'd love to have it), but I just can't see how anyone couldn't support getting SP back for dropsuits.

I'm not here to argue about gender politics and semantics, which I could, so I'll leave that point alone.
Dust is free because you do not *have* to pay to play it. Your argument is that in eve you can pay with isk and that's true to a point. The isk buys you a plex from the player market which another player has paid real money to buy in the first place. Just because CCP let you buy plex with isk doesn't mean they haven't got money for the time you get to play. If plex weren't on the market, you would have to pay to play.
True, there are other things to do in Eve, but quite a number of people choose not to do them and not to skill for them like you, and others, including me, chose not to spread your sp out across more options. And each expansion brings changes to one or more playstyles, even the more minor seeming ones. Yes the free game has less options than the paid one, I fail to see why that makes it so you have to have the refund to keep playing how you want to. Each type of suit will still have bonuses to assist the roles it was designed for, you don't *have* to fit to those bonuses if you don't want to.
When I play as a sniper, I'm more likely to be nearer to the opponents redline than my own.
