Will I use a respec/refund/ whatever if they give it? Yes, I'd be stupid not to. Do I feel entitled to one? Hell no.
There's a difference between entitlement and expectation.
Entitlement essentially means that you have a right to something: I'd guess that most of the people that want a skill refund with the dropsuit skill changes are not feeling entitled to a refund, but feel that it would engender a lot of goodwill because it is an enormous shift in what we have been looking at. We are not merely looking at additions to the line-up of suits and modules, but we're looking at a great overhaul of skills, module layouts, SP costs, ISK costs and, most importantly, [b]changes to our choices[/n]. We have all chosen certain things for certain reasons, some for roleplay reasons, some for power and many in between. Personally, I chose my Logistics suit (Gallente) back at the beginning of Uprising because it had the best Logi bonus (the 25% fitting reduction) so that I could support my squadmates the best. I've endured, as have many other Logibros, the torrent of abuse about being FOTM or that I'm overpowered. But the truth is that I chose what I chose because it was the best for doing what I wanted to do, which was support my team to the best of my ability. If the 1.8 update were simply adding suits that I suddenly wanted to go into I would not be adamant about a refund, but that is simply not the case: we are getting new suits (that should have been in from the beginning, bear in mind), new skills and having the rug pulled from under us with regards to the choices we have already made.
Instead, the majority of people calling for a refund of dropsuit skill points are expecting a refund because of the incredible upheaval that such an undertaking will have on not only the game but their own playstyles. Changing things so drastically means players need to reevaluate what they are wanting to do and the way they wish to go about it and providing a refund is the best way of doing so. |
