Aside from Earth and Beyond, EVE never had any direct competition. How many console FPS franchises are out there again? I'm not a doomsdayer, but CCP needs to step up their game. |

Okay, it's natural to be frustrated at the players who pub stomp. BUT! Don't blame the players. Blame the people who created the infrastructure to allow people to do so.
It's CCPs inexperience and lack of foresight (lack of the ability to see the obvious) that allowed 20-30 mil SP PC vets to play on the same field as 1200wp lolAcademy graduates. |

Absolutely broken match maker Faction Warfare not really doing anything Planetary Conquest horrific lag Constant UI lock ups Voice comms bugging out (no voice) Having more than 'x' channels open disconnects you repeatedly Shotgun hit detection Absolutely broken suit bonuses (25% shield recharge on a gallente assault? really?) - Yes it is.
No, that particular project was not and never was intended to be Dust.
Dust happened on its own after plans for an EVE-side RTS planetary interaction game was scrapped. The design concept for that game (or a small amount of it, rather) can be seen in the PS home game known as "Slay" in the Dust section. If you look back at old ambulation videos when it was still on the unreal engine, you can see closeups of the holographic models they were using as concept for units. |

The game CCP envisioned, will be made by others... there are two competitors who will make very cool games that have shittons more immersion than eve ever will have.
One of those is crowdfunded, and has collected 23 million dollars already. This project has more immersion running around a virtual hangar than Dust514 has in their "finished" game.
Progress is something that needs to be made and not only talked about.
This game might not be dead, but it's not delivering any of the promised content to keep players interested... |

I understand this, if I had the isk for it I would probably run around in my protosuits more too.
Personally I dont mind getting in a pubstomping match, because it forces me to improve my game, when everyone else is hiding and or sniping I get in my LAV and guerilla hack letters, keeping the fight up, but not everyone is a stubborn viking like me. |

Exactly, just empty promises. I dont even know why they take away "beta" brand. Game is still like beta, it defo not a full release. No flow in gameplay - like in trailers, No proxy, No quality servers, Low quality graphics,Terible mechanicks, Horible bugs, No proper MOVE optimilisation etc. etc. Just broken promises.
Servers used specifically for eve online and the backbone of dust are literally military grade (to the point the acquisitioner had to get a security clearance) and matches the likes of the wall street servers. What we can't help ISPs, phsyics of real world and any provided equipment through PSN. What we can help is netcode optimization.
Horrible Bugs - understatement in light of a more recent game that deleted your entire character every time you started. Then had a biased server accusations pop up about top crews and review crews being unhampered. In terms of bugs Dust 514's are pretty damn light weight type of bugs.
PS MOVE - I know a CPM member who has very sharp words against that, overall the device seems to work much better on our game than most other shooters.

Ten years later we're hearing the same exact things from the Dust 514 guys. Been referencing this from the start. People need to keep in mind that EVE didn't start out even remotely comparable to what it is today.
Different division of the studio or not, this is still the company that took an obscure, hard to play MMO and made it into the "World's largest game universe".
They took a game no one ever heard of up to the point where everyone speculates about new MMOs being "EVE killers" the same way they used to about "WoW killers".

Mobius please just STFU. You hardly if ever even play the game anymore. Its one thing sitting on bleachers and holding the CCP FANBOI SIGN, and completely another playing the actual game.
You make seem that the players have no right to be upset with the current progress because... everything with eventually be Ironed-out. Players have every right to be unhappy with Dust 514
so STFU |

I wouldn't say this game or eve is doomed, but I think that there are competitors that seem on a good way to deliver a lot of the stuff that was promised by CCP to bait people into the game!
Many of these have moved on and left EVE and Dust, so if we have an alternative, that combines elements of Dust and EVE in a seamless experience, I predict that more players will leave EVE and Dust.
It will not spell doom to EVE, but with alternatives on the Market, EVE will have to improve to keep their subscribers.
After all, this competition is good for everybody.

Like I've been saying if CCP releases a point release aka a named expansion with the things mentioned in that presention the game will be successful and you will see a large number of the players that left weeks after uprising 1.0 make a return. but the problem now is the game is released with most of the game missing |

Attract players One of the most unique qualities of Dust is it's connection to a whole other game. Where an average 50,000 players await, advertise. Improve what the players were attracted too I don't know if it would be possible but voice connectivity would be cool with EVE. Strengthen their battle involvement. Currently in FW when you call down a OB you might get a special one if a friend is in the sky. In Dust and EVE they don't really know or realize they have friends- or rather 'useful' friends on the ground. Bring back the warbarge and have it show whos out there. Names, their ship, their race, what kind of OBs do they have? But also make sure that the pilots know us too. Let them know that we can support them. And also possibly destroy them. Introduce those giant LaZor beams of D3ATH that can affect players in EVE. Give requests to strike a ship in EVE. Define and point out what they were attracted to Currently most of the playerbase probably doesn't realize the difference between Public Matches and Factional Warfare. Make sure players know that FW has an actual affect in both systems. Also make FW stand out. That you should play FW not just for role play or other people. Possibly make a notable difference in the reward system. Polish Maybe add a couple feature here and there that have to do with connectivity but make sure the player knows they exist. Add One feature that would be awesome is for mercs to be able to join in game battles of EVE. You don't have give us windows to look out side. Just start out with a titan with clone packs on board or a boarding party. Don't take this seriously at all just yet.
Connectivity should be one of the things that defines dust the most. As a game that connects to players that aren't just doing the same thing you do. Something that is obviously connected, has impact on 2 types of players and 1 universe of characters, and gives you even emotions such as anger that most games don't dare aim for, yet give you sense of freedom of being an actual person in a fantasy world, and addiction which is how I feel about dust and I'm sure many more will if connectivity becomes the goal.
Dust and EVE are just titles. We all play in New Eden.

You live in quite the fantasy world. If you take off those rose-tinted glasses for a moment and re-evaluate these features you're praising you'll see that these features are mostly just numbers going from one server to another to give an illusion of involvement from mercs/pilots. The reality is that Eve and Dust are two seperate cardboard boxes with similar paintjobs.
The involvement between the two games is essentially a glorified version of Battleship.

The problem is, that the upcoming titles will give a lot of frustrated EVE universe players a new home, that might be more comfy and entertaining than eve ever was...
I think the anouncement of Valkyrie is a clear reaction to the success of Chris Roberts "Star Citizen". Just because all the die hard EVE nerds try to avoid anything that diverts from the beaten track, doesn't mean that there are very many people out there that are looking exactly for that (new and immersive fps space shooters with pvp and economy)!
Competition is on, lets see how CCP is reacting to that.

Nope, atm it terrible. No EvE conection, non balance, bugs/glithes, invisible was, connection issues, framerate drops, lag, broken mechanics, unstable, 6member groups, no proxy, overall its just under the mediocre multi FPS.Honestyl i feel like in multiplayer version of ACM but from EvE universe and from another developer. Just FYI, but you can do this already.
If you have an Eve side player in your chat, they only have to toggle an option and voila, merc to capsuleer comms.
What would be nice is if pilots connecting to the district could then join team chat. |
