Come on now CCP is been 3 months now.
Blues are avoiding the topic like the plauge, some are pretending the problem doesnt exsist.
1.5 will be pointless without a fix to large turret rendering since you cant balance around being blind (hell fixing it would solve alot of problems as it is)
Thread after thread get made about the issue in GD and bug reports and it all goes ignored
well not this time
all we want... is a damn blue post confirming that yes its a huge problem, and yes its being fixed for 1.5.
sign if you want this fixed and if you want a blue post confirming that its a huge damn problem and its being worked on.
because so far we havnt heard a peep and each and every single patch makes the problems worse rather then better. |

We need a fix to all the rendering issues, it's almost impossible to shoot stuff as a dropship now, neither swarms nor fore gunners render, with the change to the tac net visual identification us more important than ever and the rendering seriously crews up that front. It's utterly ridiculous that a swarmer standing 10m below my dropship shooting at me is invisible. So /signed. |

Yes. And small turrets.
As a ds gunner OR PILOT. - lots of rendering unit problems. Lots. infantry, enemies, friendlies, turret installations, probably tanks, etc.
chevrons getting stuck and updating 30 seconds after that position was valid. its bad |

How about this, just like I thought.
1.5 will re-balance vehicles even though:
Small Missile Turrets don't work the majority of the time (in particular on the top turret in a tank).
Large Missile Turrets will send out the first missile into a hilariously incorrect vector.
Large Rail Guns will not do damage every so often. No idea why, just shoot and get nothing. No over heat, no target damage.
Small Blaster Turrets will occasionally not work on a specific tank. I will have to hunt down the work around because I don't know it.
This doesn't even bring up the OP's viewpoint. Specifically a Tanker is blind beyond 300m and less than that if the target is below the plane of the Tank. Probably above as well.
But we have pretty, pretty grass that texture pops like a pre-schooler on Ritalin but we cannot see a target. Sometimes the target can be seen by the gunners and sometimes they are just as lost as the drivers. The Magnificent Draw Distance Maximum Distance of Not Nearly Enough even allows the majority of Swarms and Forge Guns to fire without leaving a trail.
And no, adjusting your texture detail to low in the System->Options does not change a thing.

Rendering in this game went from bad to very bad $-ú%!&. railgun turrets can see my tank before i can see them and i cant get onto a real tall building an snipe anymore. its pretty unfair whoevers idea it was WELL DONE. guess he doesnt play the game... |

I would like to add that Large Rails sometimes randomly overheat even if you do not fire them for minutes. And sometimes they do get heat build up while you are shooting blanks. Well, I guess not really blanks because if you are shooting at enemy rail tank he will get hit indicators and then he will start looking for you but you are not doing any damage so he can easily take you out. |

You are absolutely correct to demand an answer to this game breaking mechanic for vehicles and ALL ranged weapons. I enjoyed sniping during Chromosome, but now cannot do it because I can not see targets past 250m. I have a few thales as well, but why skill up into them if I cant even see what I am shooting at? |

That is horrible, on reflection it would be a probably outcome if the previous problems combined.

The documentation (such as it is) claims it still does state the claim but in testing they provide zero benefits besides buying and equipping turrets.
I finally sent in a trouble ticket. We will see if it produces any response at all much less one in time to effect 1.5.

ive definatly been hit by a railgun without recieving damage
you DO get hit markers when this happens.
out of respect i retreated instead of shooting back because i know the glitch continues and he wouldnt of been able to damage me for a bit |

Yeah this rendering issue should be fixed ASAP. It's not even uncommon that an installation vanishes when being shot. Just yesterday I had this happen couple of times. At first the installation (CRU, supply depot etc.) is there and as I shoot the first shot at it with my Particle Cannon the installation vanishes, but since I know it is there I keep on shooting until I get the WP for destroying it. |

As a forge gunner, I get these problems too. Invisible snipers, invisible mass drivers, invisible installations, invisible HAVs. I even got squashed by a dropship I could hear, but didn't render until after it landed on me. |

Why the hell was draw distance even added in the first place? Was it meant to reduce the memory usage? Chromosome was one of the most solid builds and it didn't have the draw distance bullshit like we do now. I don't really see the performance cost from the build before to this one, besides the SSAO that was added in Uprising 1.2. This thread seriously needs a dev response. I'm pretty positive CCP has seen the thread, can we get a reply please? |

The "draw distance [FIX]" should be removed immediately. Honestly it is serving no one and only lends to a poor game experience. I drive a tank daily, with the slightest elevation change people, turrets, ...everything disappears. This has been a problem since they were trying to fix the lag issues. After this fix we experienced the worst lag in this games history. Later we find out that the lag was a combination of memory leaks and shaders. Yet we are stuck with a game mechanic that is both unneeded and least desirable.
If this "FIX" was simply eliminated it would: 1. make sniper a viable role 2. balance different turrets on vehicles 3. make Dusties happy So why not swallow our pride, and try taking it out CCP. I know you can do it. After all it wasn't always there. And my clone should surly be able to see a red 30m in front of a gun built to kill him. |

i think the problem is that they banked too much on improving the graphics, and the maps and art assets are now dependant on the limited draw distance to function.
so the only way to fix would be to scap all the graphics improvements AND new maps.
the problem is that the blues wont say anything on the matter. so we dont know how much of that is true. |

This is getting a bit stupid now, im not one to moan about tanks, i've just got on with it and generally run away from av, but its a bit hard running from something you cant see
Line harvest was ruined agess ago, so i dont tank on that map anymore, now all maps are ruined, how am i supposed to avoid swarms etc and reposition myself when they dont render and i have no fu,cking clue what direction they are coming from?
its simple, if you cant fix the rendering for whatever reason
Then if i cant see a turret, it shouldnt be able to see me, it should work both ways
same for swarms and forge gunners, if i cant see there projectiles, then they too far and shouldnt get a lock on \ red cursor at that distance

which brings up another issue...the cross hairs turn red when ppl are behind walls and inside buildings when they are out of render range. |

gamers testing thigns is a terrible idea.
i prefer that testers test things.
the problem most their testing is regulated to testing the core interaction with sony and its adherance to their contract.
they dont have a large in house testing devision for game mechanics. that part is pretty much left up to theory crafting and live testing/datamining |

I agree. If I can see a HAV to forge it, then the HAV should be able to see me to fire back. It's the worst idea ever to have render range badly tied to the range of the weapon in hand.
IMO... Accurate rendering distance should be the range of the furthest reaching weapon in game plus 50 meters. That should be for everything, not just active battlefield assets. So no more shooting at a merc in one's crosshairs only to have the shots blocked because the merc is behind an obstacle that's not considered to be in render range.
And one more thing. Get rid of the "pop-up" vegetation. No-one can hide behind it as it doesn't render for anyone it might otherwise be used as visual cover from. This makes it an unnecessary drain on the resources you're trying to save with the so called rendering "fixes". |

This is a huge problem for vehicles, as well as trying to locate snipers, or use the sniper rifle. Drop ships especially suffer from this. |

Although, i dunno, turrets do seem to be a distance thing, as do invisable dudes, end off
But the invisable swarms & fg shots (the invisable projectiles) im not sure it is distance related but more so just glitching for whatever reason
i was on the new map, at my spawn (just called tank), was guarding, getting some kills on our nearest letter that got turned red, and i started getting hit with swarms that i couldnt see
given it was at our 1st spawn it was obvious they wasnt coming from behind so i just start reversing down this long ass road, towards our redline, by the time id gone a good 20+ meters, low and behold the swarms started rendering..... even though i was at a further distance from when they didnt render...
id like to say it was todo with elevation, like they were at a higher spot than me, but then that doesnt hold true for other situations
i dunno, ive just thought this as im typing, but maybe if they (the projectiles) are so high and come down on the top of our tank, given our limited 3rd person view, maybe they are there, just we cant see them, due to the view?
which is still a bit ******, and needs a fix, but yeah, thats what i think may be happening
Still, even if im right, its still no excuse for invisable dudes or turrets that can shoot at me, but i cant see them, which is deffo distance related.....
needs a look into, whats the point fixing and rebalance tanks when you got shite like this going on |

I like the fact that a Turret Installation will come and go in the view finder of my Rail Gun in my Tank. If you come from different directions sometimes it will appear or not. This is where memorizing the map is critical. Because you Know that a Rail Gun Turret Installation is right behind that structure.
But the Devs don't think it is a problem that you cannot count on seeing a target at Half the maximum range of your weapon. Get out of the Tank, find the target's location, or use a sniper rifle to find it, jump back in the tank ... if the Random Blue Berry occupying one of the Small Turrets hasn't stolen your Tank that is.

There is no point wasting the million isk on a tank thats gunna get blown up by something i cant shoot at. havent used tanks in a weeks

i buy 10 or so every patch and just hope and prey that they fixed the draw distance and some swarmers not going to be able to shoot invisable missles at me from 20m away while being invisable himself.
this patch left me disapointed. |

Hey Chance, nice to hear from you in yet another post.
I wonder why you think this will help? CCP/Shanghai doesn't believe that the draw distance cut off being less than the targeting distance of any weapon is an issue. Nor are they going to do anything about it. Maybe they are unable to figure it out without help. Maybe they don't care.
Maybe they are have gone to seed. Why? Because we get grass growing but still cannot see a target at 210m.
New way to profit: have a decent game in Beta, trash it during the release, don't fix it, profit! At least that is what it looks like from this side.
Until the rendering, targeting, draw distance cut off is back where it was in Chromosome my wallet is closed. Whatever they don't want to call it or recognize it doesn't matter. If it isn't fixed ... no more packs from me. |

turrets still randomly disapear, infantry still has a magical anti-tank cloaking device to ranges in extremes of 20m away.
6 months and no fix in sight, no problem awknowledged and the game has simply forgotten that railguns are a thing. |

Yet, once with AM turret I shot an enemy 50 meters away from me, 4 shots - none registered. Yesterday happened with 5 sniper rifle shots: hit / amiss / amiss / hit / amiss.
Both me and my target were standing still, but the sights sometimes was red and sometimes was blue... |
