I just wanted to say the matchmaking we have now is fubar. Went an entire match of dom with 4 people on one team and 2 on the other and another match with 16 people on one team and 6 on the other. Still getting matches with stacked squads on one side vs teams of randoms. Can't believe I'm typing this but I prefer the way it was before 1.4. |

I still can't see the effort put into an "AI" for matchmaking being worth it.
Just let people "graduate" out of a training mode when they have enough isk to buy their mercenary license. If you ever get enough people into the game add a high tier that is much harder to get a license for.
Dead simple. Hard to screw up. Leaves time for creating new maps and other fun things. |

1. We want a working Match-Making System. 2. We want to play what we select, No Voting, No Randomization. I would rather wait for my game mode than play one I hate. 3. Please separate Ambush and Ambush OMS. I loved OMS but there's a chance I'll end up in Ambush which I hate. |

I'm going to go out on a limb and call CCP innovative. However, as we often see, being innovative also means getting things wrong a lot.
CCP, if you want to let people pick a random game style then put in a random selection -- don't just randomly decide some people will have to play a game they don't want to play.
Somebody in your organization needs to step back from the theoretical best way to do sh*t and do things in a way that is simple, effective, and does what people want. So called high-tech is not always the answer... Scotty the AI indeed. |

So our matchmaking went a bit rogue today and did basically none of the things I said it would. We have taken Scotty out the back for a good talking too and he's ready to start the day fresh and get the job done as of downtime Wednesday.
As a quick FYI because I've seen a few comments like "why don't you test this beforehand?". Obviously matchmaking is pretty tricky to test without the huge numbers of players, so we have a system of robots that simulate thousand of players connecting and joining battles. Unfortunately it looks like there was something wrong with our test simulation because it did not perform the same today on TQ as it did during testing.
The good news is we now have a heap of detailed logs to try to replicate what we saw today to help us run more accurate tests in the future.

Yes i will admit i love what 1.4 did guns work good now ,Hit detection is great and i love the active scaner now ,all so the new maps r greatttttttttttttttttttttt thanks ccp once matchmaking is fixed we will be happy gamers!! |

What game mode, is the first fricking criterion. You should base the first part of the matchmaking, on what people want to play. If I am soloing, I do not want to play domination or skirmish, where I get frustrated with bluebelles. I'd prefer to play ambush, where it doesn't need any teamwork to play.
Nothing can ruin this game, more than this matchmaking section. Go back to the old matchmaking, it was faster and you got to play what you wanted. You gives a kitten about unmatched teams anymore, with this kind of rubbish. |

The vote system is bad, and I prefer the old system of matchmaking. Bad players will rage about team imbalance and needing SP tiered shelter from everyone no matter what, but now we have to deal with long wait times and half your squad not deploying into a match.
I can't log in anymore, but I did enjoy the updates to TACnet, audio/visuals and shiny new menus. I've read the new maps are fun. Just junk the matchmaking. |

Its simple
You have each gamemode which then has 3 matchmaking options
Skirmish - Basic vs basic, adv vs adv, proto vs proto for example
Now because basic/adv/proto is decided by meta levels 1-3,4-6,7-9 it means the game can easily recognize what is on everyones suit
So if you are in basic vs basic ambush and your suit has a meta level 4 (adv) item on it then the whole suit is invalid thus you cannot spawn in it when in game because of the meta level, but if you take it off and replace with a basic item 1-3 meta then you can spawn in it provided the entire fitting is basic and between 1-3 meta level

I don't agree with this type of matchmaking by skills or something. It is better to have some good and some bad games than all bad. You should just fill games up as people arrive as before and according to their preferences. If you want to really improve this game, don't allow vehicles to be to heavily armored (yellow LAVs are a bad joke), punish people who only want to run people over (maybe introducing stronger AV grenades), improve maps and improve spawning so that you have some invincibility during 5 seconds or so (this to give you chances when the enemy is just surrounding your uplink).
When I started playing I got killed easily because I had bad dropsuit and weapons so I have now bad K/D ratio. Now I was improving my K/D ratio because I have better dropsuit and weapons but since you changed the rules again I will never improve my K/D. So others have improved their skills and K/D at my expense and now I will not benefit of the same.
In conclusion, if you match everyone up really nice there is no point for skills just give everyone the same suit and weapons too. |

I only played four or five games yesterday because I was utterly disgusted by the new matchmaking system.
Unless the patch today greatly shortens the wait times and eliminates bugs (esp. the team chat bug which prevents you from queueing for about 5 minutes), I can't see myself playing this game at all after I cap out this week. It's just not worth the headache.
I would much rather roll back to the previous system. You got the occasional protostomp but at least it was over with quickly, and you could wait a bit so you didn't queue in with those protostompers again. Now I have to wait 5+ minutes only to get queued into a game where it's just me on my team and no one on the enemy team? No thanks, I'll go play a game that works. |

Yes. When I logged on today there was a new patch 3.09 (about 30 Mb) and everything was going well. The battle finder only took about 5 seconds to get me in a match which was good. I was really pleased again and the matches were OK since I was adapting to new maps which look good.
Unfortunately after playing about 4 games, the battle finder stopped working (about 10 min ago). I even logged out and in again but nothing.

New players mothertrucker .. new players .. this is the main reason for a better matchmaking system .. you may just want new players and fairly new players just out of academy to be your opponents so you can be happy about going 15-0 but keeping you happy at the expense of .. lets say 5 players per game putting their control pad down and deleting the game makes no sense .. what exactly is your issue with balanced games ??? CCP may have failed miserably at implementing it but as an idea it is desperately needed to not only attract players to this game but keep them .. you may be happy with a high KD/R on a game with 4k players but I'd rather be an average player with an average KD/R on a game with 400,000 players .. more players=less waiting times it's simple logic and if you still don;t get it then you my friend are an idiot |

I just played some 7-8 pub matches... The "Searching for battle" period never lasted longer than 10 seconds, and each and every time I got the match I actually selected I want (domination). Also, both teams were mostly full before the battle started, or filled up quickly after. This part is definitely fixed and works perfectly.
As for matchmaking itself... it's hard to tell. Since my char is neither a complete noob nor a proto-god, I can't tell from just playing a couple of games. Subjectively, it felt like battles were more even matched than before, but don't take this as rock solid, objective assessment.
Regardless, matchmaking works much, much better than yesterday. |

I thought Dust and New Eden were about choice? This would mean that if I have a basic suit, I can't use any of my proto weapons? That's idiotic.
It would be better to add all the meta levels of the suit, modules and equipment, and base matchmaking on that. Even that could be imbalanced, if players increase all their passive skills and use militia equipment to stomp newberries with more speed, less sway, increased damage, less detection, etc. |
