I mean if you have a problem with me doing this I'll be happy to stop using proto HMG and swap to my stockpile of Gastun HMGs. This can really hurt a newbie to the game. I also see pros as hard mode, so you have to try hard to kill them. |

No, there really isn't. No one cares what rules you make up in your head about being "honorable" or what you call "cheap." The only thing that matters is that at the end of the round, someone wins. They are the successful party, and no one is going to say "Oh those guys on the losing team are so much better than the winning team!" Likewise no one is going to say "Oh those winners are nowhere near as good as the losing team!" |

Does not compute. The reputation of New Eden is that it's a very dark, gritty, and unforgiving place to be.
Also I find it funny that folks praise the difficulty unforgiving game that is Demon's Souls but can't play this without complaining.
Did you listen to the video "Way of the mercenary"?
Quote:
"Combat in New Eden is fast, frentic and brutal. As good as you are, you will die. And when you do, you will reawaken in a clone ready to return to battle; wiser and better prepared for the challenges ahead"
That quote tells you everything that you should expect from New Eden.

A newbie is as likely to survive me in a freefit fatsuit (Standard and militia mods/weaps) as he is to survive me in a proto fatsuit.
Veterans are not newbie friendly. We also don't ask "Hi are you new? Sorry, I'm a year or more vet. you should go play with my friends around Delta. they're all less than three months. Have fun and play nice."
Once the crosshairs center on you, it's over but the crying, doesn't matter if you're proto or freefit due to skills. I still say the answer to newbie issues is veteran squad instructors. |

Its your right to use it, but really do you use it because you have to, or because you like going 10/2 instead of 7/3? I have more ISK than I know what to do with, so I don't care if I don't make a profit. Besides, the more I die the more you guys make at the end of the match. Win/win, right? :P Give me 100,000,000 ISK? You did say Quote:I have more ISK than I know what to do with Me too |

Plus, you need a better perspective here. If you go up against protos, look at it as an opportunity to get better. What you learn facing a proto can be used to be effective in this game. I see protos and accept the challenge. I don't care if you got red eyes, I'm blasting away with my "OP" AR
Also, protos are not the Goliaths of this game. In fact, you can take down a proto. But that takes what is involved in the previous paragraph; actually going toe to toe with them and realizing that all mercs bleed the same. Learn what? most guys aim at proto users and die 2 secs later!
That said one of the best games I had was just after the 1.2 patch, I went 17/10 fighting to defend the objective in domination against proto stompers, yes I died alot but was using a BPO dropsuit and AR so still made a profit and got some nice messges from the enemies at end of the round for how many of them I killed:D |

I don't care if i make money, i just want to have fun grinding SP.
I don't even have load outs without proto gear anymore. I never used them so they just cluttered my selection screen. |

As funny as it sounds using Proto gear in a public match helps me with PC, you get used to the damage you can do and take. You start to get used to backing off and retreating with X amount of health.
Besides I invested the points into it........ I got the money to run it 24/7
And obviously it helps me keep my KDR so people think I'm awesome on the Internet |

It is what it is. But seriously, why would you need to use your top level gear in pubs? I think it shows a lack of skill overall. If you need to deck out in the top gear, band in a full squad and camp on nanohive and uplinks it shows how bad you really are. There is a difference between being successful and being good. Its sad really. Ironically, most hardcore DUST players are the ones that used to b*tch about Call of Duty, about nobody was playing the objective, and that full teams of top prestige players were just tryhards who sucked at the game and couldn't do well otherwise... now they do it in DUST and its all cool. Uhh, most of dust vets came from mag. And i would insult myslf running bummy adv gear under any circumstance. |

Well, what I'm really wondering is: are some players crutched by it?
Can some players really not top a pub leader board unless they are decked out in a 180k suit? In a pub, I don't think proto makes any difference in your effectiveness.
I guess it does save you from having a list of fits to scroll through, but I for one like trying random fits in pubs |

So, let's just say proto is a crutch. Then what? I don't get the award for the best player in Dust? I'm not challenging myself to scale the peaks of FPS greatness?

As a bit masochist (using weak suits with randomized pistols as my favorite weapons), I see proto-sluts as just a bunch of try hard elitists.
Come brag when you're lonewolfing in militia suits with scrambler pistols and scoring over around or more than 10 kills with less than 4 deaths in an ambush match.

Almost anytime I use one... lol, the lack of gun skill is DUST is outstanding. Probably why people came to it, they were no longer getting stomped i other games, here they are a a big fish in a small pond; but mediocre at best elsewhere. Which is probably why I can excel at this game, lol

You shot me the other day with a pistol, a base Scrambler. for some reason it launched my 500m in the air and across the map when it killed me. I watched the whole thing, and it took 20 seconds to land in the redzone

Its about at the 1million SP mark you can have Fits that are majority PRO gear... That doesn't take long.
I think what he was trying to say is, real men don't need to rely on top tier gear just to beat up on a bunch of unorganized scrubs. all you need really is a squad to run with.

Its your right to use it, but really do you use it because you have to, or because you like going 10/2 instead of 7/3? Keep in mind buddy it is an MMO before its a shooter. But what could be done is possible a better matchmaking system to allow players to be keep with no only their skill level but their lifetime skill points as well. If something could be done with skill level and skill points in public matches than we see a better balance of matches. But as of right now the matches are lopsided. |

Same principle here. It's still incessant whining from people who can't run proto gear about those who can financially sustain doing so. |

I don't get this common sense that PRO gear is for PC only, many people don't even play it...
As for me, I run PRO when I want a boost. If my team is struggling, if enemies have solid teamwork and communication, I will wear my CK.0. I will wear it everytime I feel it's needed.
I take public matches kinda seriously and if my team needs the 100% from me, that's the suit to run. |
