By the end of the last multiple SP week, the number of flaylocks in the average match roughly tripled, and they suffered a nerf soon after.
Now, I love the mass driver. I started to think it was OP too until I took better ARs into the field, and we know from these forums that too few AR players believe they should be killed by anything other than more ARs.
So I'm wondering how many mass drivers you folks think will show up this week? |

A lot.
I've been using them the last couple of weeks, and they are still OP, but not by much. Reducing the Splash Radius to pre-buff levels and making the ROF a little slower would make them hit the sweet spot.

I'm not. I like mass drivers, but I'm not speccing into them until a few builds to see if it gets nerfed or not. Popular non-AR weapons attract nerfs, and right now the mass driver is popular (though not OP).
Damn radical nerfists and AR supremacists. |

I do not use massdrivers and I do not find them overpowered even though I am armor tanked. I like the variety and it just take some time for AR users to get accustomed to the massdrivers. They are not that good out in the open when you can keep the distance. The massdriver is really good in close urban combat zones and that is the only areas I have found them to be a problem. Their range is shorter and it gives more room for infantry to move around and not being sniped by duvoulles.
I have learned my lesson to keep my distance from massdrivers or instead run right into the massdriver user and have him kill himself with his weapon. |

I don't think MDs are very OP. Maybe a little. I haven't played with them so I can't give an opinion. I wish more people would follow that rule
That being said, MDs are semi-FOTM. They're a skill weapon so not as many will be using them as past FOTM weapons. I'll be sticking with my Toxin AR. If more people use them, CCP will be able to gather more data to assess whether or not they are OP. |

I don't think the Mass driver is OP, the only thing I dislike is the efficacy bonus on explosives. I personally would like to see the Mass driver with tactical explosives like stun grenades, flux grenades, shock grenades etc.
EDIT: And I am an AR user. |

I will never use the Toxin AR  Mostly because I refuse to spend any more money on this game. |

Then we'll see how many of us massholes truly know how to use the weapon.

I started using mass driver about 4 months ago, realised it sucked (or I sucked)
now it's fun and the account has more SP.
So to answer your question, I have proto mass driver with prof 5 and no shields xD
So I definitely will be spamming that mass driver, gotta get dem shields.
if you see somebody camping on a roof with an MD, pull out your best sniper rifle and stay on them the whole time.
I hate it when people do that.
I mean sometimes I spawn on the roof by accident if there's an uplink up there. so snipe me too! |

Yeah, friendly fire MD spamming is annoying. The smoke and noise it creates is detrimental to the team. |

I wouldn't worry too much about that, because according to some player test the splash damage range for friend-fire is only 2m (instead of 4.2m) and the damage profile ignore shield/armor resistances. Why armor tank ? you could shield tank with Shield regulators modules.. I believe you can have 3 of them with the Adv logi.. right ?

I love it....only in Dust is a weapon with massive AOE considered a skill weapon.
Next argument I expect to see. Orbitals take talent to use and shows the true skill of a player. |

Just have basic md to try it out. It's pretty good. As a scout though I hate fighting them. If I don't die on their first foot shot I am still not fast enough to get away from the second foot shot. Fast rof makes the weapon very deadly. At least 1/4 as effective as a duvolle!!
