I think the one that's highlighted in green is the one you're voice chatting in also. So you can talk to just your squad for instance. I haven't tested this, but that's how it works in EVE, so it would make sense.

I agree with this. Ammo should work like it does for ships in EVE. Have different ammo types and load that as part of your fitting, so it determines the cost and all that. I don't know if switching ammo on the fly like in EVE is needed, though.

Focus on your core skills first. That means things like the skills that increase your armor, shield, stamina, weapon damage, etc. Get those up to at least 4 before you work too hard at unlocking the better gear because they boost your performance ...
