I'd like to see a LAV that the pilot controls the gun, much like tank turrets operate. They can still carry a passenger, just use a turret model that fills up the back of the LAV, to avoid visual confusion. A big box on a rotating platform with a turret mount on the top could work.
This falls in line with my request for a pilot gunnable variant of every class vehicle in the game. |

Because the majority of pilots will go Tanks until they have a way to get their own SP...
Because relying on gunners for the MAJORITY of your SP is bad game design.
Teamwork is the same regardless, it's still 12 v 12. |

How many LAV's have you seen lately? Compare that to tanks.
Tanks let you earn kills and SP by combat.
LAV's do not.
This is why. |

So far my LAV has filled my need for joyriding across the map... if any enemies happen to play in the street... yay!
Otherwise, it wont see good play until we have maps twice, if not 3 times the size of our current skirmish map. Do you need a vehicle for a small installation map to clear enemies from the streets? grab a HAV. Do you need a vehicle to put turrets in the air and carefully place mercs in hard-to-reach positions? grab a Dropship. Do you need to quickly get a small team to a distant tactical point as subtlety as possible? grab a LAV. Or at least I hope that's how it's going to work.
I honestly see the LAV being used as long-distance deployment vehicles designed for the non-industrial environments, not a dedicated gun platform.
Do airborne vehicles need a 'fighter' variant? No passenger space, but pilot controlled forward-weapons? Maybe, but I personally don't think so. It would be doable if the weapon systems require a vehicle lock to fire, basically becoming airborne Swarm platforms. This would prevent them from becoming just another gunship that could rain hell down on infantry. |

If anything, this actually is an argument for the OPPOSITE: Tanks who can pilot, but not gun. Makes more sense than LAVs with pilot guns. |
