I think it won't need a sidearm. .25 seconds is not much time to wait to fire. any automatic weapon will fare pretty well in CQC, just because it can spew out so much damage.

I do. well sometimes at least. I use the Carthum Assault ScR Rifle with one damage mod (scout gk.0, so I only get one high) and proficiency 5. again this is when I use it, though.
