I already play my logi suit like an assault suit, the lack of sidearm is the only reason I switch to assault sometimes. Personally, I don't think it needs more firepower, I think that would remove focus from it's role as a support suit.

go into your suit fitting screen and restock your suit to 10 or so, this will buy you enough modules for the suit to die 10 times. You lose a set of modules every time you die.
