A majority if hills that would be climbable in real life won't let you climb them... So can you PLEASE fix the CCP? I'd like to get at those pesky snipers on a slight incline without a drop ship. |

It's impossible to climb if the slope is steep. |

I was think the opposite, you can climb some crazy hills as long as its (wide) enough to fit |

I agree, at some points it is possible to climb very steep hills and some hills are indeed too steep to climb but I've found some that aren't much of an incline and are still impossible to climb even via jumping like an idiot. At any rate, it was a forum title to catch and bring the issue to their attention. |

I would like more climeable hills, even if its a giant movement penalty to do so, so you are slowly climbing. But yes many hills are impossible for even us super soldiers to climb ingame... |

Thats so right especially in the rocky map. Those snipers are always on top of unclimbable hills and it gets annoying when you cant reach the pest whose been killing you. |

I agree, trying to negotiate your way up a hill is a lot of guess work, which doesn't really translate to fun. I think to solve it one of two things need to happen:
1. Either make the hills less passable and more obvious that they are an intended obstruction.
2. or do what Mount & Blade does and make it so if an incline exceeds the angle needed to progress, it becomes a massive speed detriment instead of a dead stop. This will make it feel more like "climbing"
I prefer option 2, personally. |

With you on that option 2. |

Like the thread title. Also hate games that magically prevent you from progressing through something a real person could easily negotiate. Unless its a vertical wall we ought to be able to ascend, just slower, and maybe even without our weapons up. |

A lot of the hills aren't so hard to climb.
CCP put darkened paths everywhere leading right up them, It's just that the path starts from the enemy base.
Scouts do jump higher, letting them access slightly harder points, but a lot of those hills are also incredibly exposed to counter-sniping.
But yes, the landscape is a bit borked, I'vehaven't had a 1 foot fall turn into terminal-velocity SPLAT yet. Perma-Hover... yes. |

when perma-hover stops you take damage for falling entire time of hover.
Some mobility skills would be nice. Like 5%/lv reduced falling damage, 5%/level slower acceleration from falling(using inertial dampers), 5%/lv higher jump, 5%/lv steeper incline can be walked up. Then anti-snipers and snipers will skill up to get into some really gnarly terrain.
There are hints about what path to take up hills, but they are not 100% |

I agree that the hills shouldn't be impossible to navigate. I would suggest a gradient that could be universal. The steeper any incline, the slower one goes when traveling up it. Example: 30 degree incline = 3% movement speed and sprint speed reduction. 50 degree incline = 10% movement speed and sprint speed reduction. 75 degree incline = 20% reduction. 89 degree incline = 99% reduction. 90 degree incline = 100% reduction (impassable). Obviously this is only an example and thus the idea and variables would have to be tweaked based on gameplay feel. This would also help alleviate if not solve the 'perma-hover' and other similar problems by essentially smoothing out the terrain. It would also make movement feel fluid and smooth rather then like a 70 ton pinball trying to navigate a small hill outcropping. Even the tanks feel smoother and such when they roll up a hill. Apply the same thing to the suits. It also gives reason for new and different modules suggested by others above, which allows for better 'climbing' and the like. As for vehicles, something similar could be done for those too... new vehicle modes: Tank treads and LAV tires. Some might give better mobility and speed on the roads, others might allow better off-roading control. Oh and you could even make the gradient work in reverse. You gain speed going down an incline. No matter how you do it, its a problem that really needs to be solved. It really makes the game feel like bulky mechanics. Tettering and stuttering down a small incline is not only sad, but can easily be mistaken for lag, and all on-line gamers hate things that 'feel' like lag. |

I hate having to constantly jump to get up a hill, especially considering it uses up stamina (soooo much time just spent waiting for stamina to regenerate). Other hills you can't even climb. |

Other hills you can't even climb. Obviously there's some terrain issues that still need to be worked out. Have the same issue in MWLL sometimes. |
