Makes me feel like I'm signing up for the Marines again. Hmm gives me an idea for a Clan now. |

A Corporation might be more like what you are after. Clans are in WoW I believe. |

Either, or. Clan, Corporations, same difference in my opinion. A bunch of people gathered for the same undeniable purpose of killing each other for profit, and glory. I've thought about joining some, mulled it over time and again, looked through their requirements, I can't help but give a chuckle. "Militaresque" in thinking, but missing something in my eyes. When a Corporation, Clan, Group, Squad, Task Force, which ever you wish to call the outfit, are comprised of real former military, then I'll join. That's just me though. |

There's several, I know ZionTCD has more than a few military members, I assume the same goes for other corps. |

Yeah, I've looked through some, as I said, still looking through others. Even though this is a game, I'm still kind of looking for that Brother in Arms feel again. |

Looking over the Corporations has allowed me to finally choose. My own. I'm not really interested in a large conglomeration. I may not survive during combat being a lone wolf, but it fits me for now. I'd rather have a small group of individuals capable of venturing out on their own, but also cooperating together when needed. So down the road while venturing here and there, I'll create, Force Recon. Oorah! Why? Just for the hell of it. Working in conjunction with other Corporations when needed. Small operations that need taken care of, such as intelligence gathering, i.e. scouting a base, land mass, ship, station, observing. Small conflicts that need to be dealt with. Protection services, if that is available down the road in Dusts future.
Sorry, just rambling. Had to at least get the idea out. Even if it does get snatched up by someone else. |

Corproations are more of a business, if you're bad at business you wont survive dust 514. Luckily business is killing people, effeciently.
In the future it may be possible to get hired as part time supplments to larger forces, for example empire setups defense contracts or fodder contracts your group can accept. Get good and you get rep for being good, eventually you may become a peferred corp to be hired. Known for thier guns and costs if you're really good many will seek your hired help.
However there are those who rather make the shots and build empires, you might find yourself in that place one day. Possibly having power that rivals the NPC empires. |

That it does Vermaak. In my eyes it keeps me in the fight, but without actually being in one.
But, it sure as hell doesn't keep me calm. |

Clan is genral term, mainly rts and fps games, clans often also will play several games. Guild is most mmo, particullary fantasy based, not normally spanning to multiple games. EvE uses corp, similar to clan but closer to guild, more features built into game then a clan, only extends to new eden setting.
So as example, Goons play many games so would be a clan, I know they are on eve, dust, wow, tf2, and others. The eve playing goons are in EvE corps part of larger alliance goon swarm federation. For record, I'm not a goon, knew some in college though.
A corp in eve setting would have atvantages over a clan in eve setting, so if a clan wants to make a mark it needs to form a corp. So, in dust only the corps will really matter, clans will form them for dust and out of corp portion only effects other games they may play. Or be temporary while they train up skills to get all members into corp. |

The goons are a community, not a clan or anything else like that.
And community-based groups, and nationality based, have a tendency to survive and rebuild where others just fall apart. |

A corporation in EVE/DUST is an economic, military, and political entity that can form alliances, own property, issue stock, and declare war.
A clan is a loose group of people that play games together.
They're two different things. |
