I personally think it should be left in. It eats a bunch of stamina, can't be exploited, and if you were cornered in a similar situation, wouldn't you do the Dead Space flail? It just makes sense to keep it. What they should add is a stomp version...

Spam AoE weapons like forge, MD and missiles at that location. Either that, or use the widest, and least Acc intensive weapon in the game at them: Assault rifles. If you shoot into the glow, you are guaranteed kills!
