There may be something like the merc pack that you can buy, a physical copy of the game to be sold in stores that might come with some codes for starter gear and so on, when the actual game is released. But it'll be free to download otherwise.

I assume this is just preliminary testing of the system. In the future I'd hope that salvage is only for the winners and isn't random, but rather based on what the enemy used in battle, or something. Either way I agree it's a bit odd for losers to...

For free-to-play games it's not uncommon for there to be a wipe upon transitioning from closed beta to open beta, but no wipe afterwards. Either way, yeah, definitely more wipes ahead.
