Spark u say the same thing about physics all the time. It's funny bc I'm sure u have a middle school understanding of physics. That aside physics mean nothing in a video game. It's about balance and gameplay.

It literally denies science to say that you shouldn't die when getting hit by a car. In every other game I've played with vehicles, you could kill people by running them over. Why do you want this to be different? Why should it be different in that one aspect?

Look, the LAV is the one weapon you can just walk away from.
You don't have to blow it up. All you have to do is stroll behind one of those spacecrete blocks that line the sidewalks and you can thumb your nose at me all day. If you hear a LAV driving around just get out of the street. Problem solved.
If you are out in the fields just walk up a hill high enough to slow a LAV down enough not to hurt you. |

I've said it before (funnily enough on a "nerf LAVs" thread), but I like them! Before any flaming begins, I do not do any murdertaxiing, but they are handy to surprise far away objectives at the beginning of a skirmish, and they add a certain complexity to proceedings. I like the randomness of them in amongst the blobs of firefights, tank battles and objective capping and "oh look an LAV chasing another! Now he's coming for me! Have an AV grenade while I side strafe." Theyre just fun, and sure to be nerfed at some point, so why don't we just enjoy them whilst we've got them? |

How is it that you numb skulls still have not learned how to deal with LAVs?
MLT LAV is needed because of map size. AV nades, Forge guns, even the free AV starter fit, take out MLT LAV like its nothing. And guss what, the starter AV fit is free, spamable, just like the MLT LAV.
If you are to lazy to actaully throw a nade or fire big guns at a LAV then just call in a MLT HAV and park in a choke point. The Lav will take the turn and by the time they see the HAV it is too late, they hit it everytime. Even a Logi LAV goes boom when it hits or gets hit by a HAV, inculding MLT HAV.
If you can't do that then go back to COD kids. |

You're ignoring my point, the point was attacking someone instead of their argument is invalid logic. You can't prove someone's argument is wrong that way.
Since you asked for logic to defend the presence of free LAVs: Free LAVs give prospective vehicle users a starting point to test out vehicles to know if they like them or not.
Free LAVs provides much needed free transportation, which is necessary given the size of the maps.
Infantry has 4 free starter fits that cost no ISK to deploy to represent different infantry playstyles. Vehicles and their playstyles are just as part of the game as infantry, so its only fair that at least one kind of vehicle would be free.
There are also much better solutions to dealing with the perceived abuse of LAVs. Increase the momentum needed to roadkill someone, and make LAVs take damage from infantry impact. |

The actual solution to the LAV/murdertaxi problem -- Proximity Mines.
They come in packs of 3 & LAVs spontaneously explode when they drive over them.
Make sure you or a squad member is speced into Proximity Mines. Problem solved.

Why no free tanks and dropship starter fits? same reason why no free specialized suits (assaults, logis, sentinels, scouts), or other basic frames in the infantry starter fits. Medium basic frame dropsuit starter fits are only a starting point, just like LAVs are just a starting point.
"If you want to use vehicles outside of academy, then buy them" That isn't really logical reasoning, its just your opinion of how things should be. It doesn't explain why things should be that way, or why LAVs shouldn't be free. That BS can just as easily apply to infantry starter fits also, "If you want to use dropsuits and infantry gear outside of academy, then buy them". If starter LAVs shouldn't be free after the academy, neither should infantry fits.
I'm done arguing with you now, I'm starting to think you're trolling; seriously, you're the one who's complaining to change the game, yet anyone anyone who doesn't agree with you should STFU? lol. You must be trolling. |

The only way to fix this issue is to make damage depend upon the speed of the vehicle and the current armor of the dropsuit. Shields in this manner can't protect a scout from an LAV going 60mph, but a heavy might put a dent in the LAV. Definitely give LAV impact damage as well, depending on the armor and mass of the suit they hit.
Right now it just doesn't seem realistic, all they need to do is point their LAV and get going 1 mile per hour and BOOM you're dead. To me it's lazy physics, and I think that's why it makes people so mad. |

And if someone brings up noobships, well that is a different game where you need a ship. In Dust drop suits are the IBIS, Impairor, Velator and Reaper. Sniper, Medic, Assault and AV. No need for a free LAV.
