No it doesn't. If they were almost ready I'm sure he'd have said so. The man can read I'm sure he's seen the rising unrest in the Heavy community and knows this news would quell that rising discourse.
It does mean that it will be many months since they've finally decided to actually fix the shoddy FPS mechanic's. But of course only after all the ASS-Salts have all their suits. |

I look at it more like a "might do" list. Seeing as there is a lot of stuff fthey've said they would do, and very little they actually have done, "to do list" sounds too set in stone for the way they seem to work. |

I just thought I'd point out that I was right, they didn't make the deadline that they themselves said they would regarding information about the vita app.
This here is a perfect example of why they do not say "we're going to have _____ in the next update which will be out on _____" several months in advance. They can very easily be side tracked, then they'll fail to meet expectations. They don't know what will work or won't work, what will be fun or not fun. If they were to actually give solid dates we would hold them to it, then be disappointed when they fail to meet their proposed deadlines. If something as easy to answer as a list of questions, most requiring no more than a one sentence answer, can't be completed on time, imagine their struggle with actual programming. |

I know I am being pedantic. But what was published isn't a roadmap. It's a to do list |

This is what a roadmap looks like.
The things CCP has mentioned in an invisible forum replycan barely be called a to-do list

This much we know for sure:
1. They have no roadmap (subject to change etc are all cover-up excuses) 2. They have a to-do list without a definite timeline ("it's done when it's done") 3. They spent more than a year to fix the basic mechanics without any positive result, in fact it is made worse in Uprising. 4. They are still looking for staff who can do the job.
So what is the future like? If you ask me, the game will get fixed in maybe a year or two, and by that time Dust will get lagged behind seriously compared to other free-to-play games, thus diminishing into a PS3-required EVE planetary conquest minigame that only large alliances in EVE will play because it affects their income. There will be a small stream of newcomers who will come and go after checking out this game. That's about it. They can't advertise Dust because they will only get laughed at. |

CCP Eterne wrote:The dev blog we put out on Tuesday was our Uprising + the Future dev blog. If you want a more detailed look at our roadmap, here are the things we'll be working on over the coming months.
- Upgrading the New Player Experience so you have greater context, immersion, and are better prepared to survive in DUST.
- Improving controls for aiming
- Balancing Instant Battles so players are matched better
- Making sure all battles hit a consistent 30 FPS minimum for our current max battle sizes
- Improving vehicle movement
- Balancing vehicles so each has a role and is balanced both versus other vehicles and infantry
- Improving infantry movement
- Making getting into battles provide more context about what's going on, why you're fighting, etc.
- Improving Planetary Conquest and making it more meaningful and interesting to be involved with
- Improving Factional Warfare, making it more interesting, and rewarding players who are loyal to a faction somehow
- Fixing bugs and exploits
- Improving overall gear balancing so there is no "best" choice and there are tactical choices to make
- Improving situational awareness tools through the UI
- Improving the fitting experience through UI and better integration with the market
There are also things that are not high level roadmap stuff that we'll be working on. Stuff like the addition of snow in Uprising 1.2 is a good example of this. For example, we have some other graphical improvements coming in 1.3, such as some changes to sites and scopes to improve visibility in certain environments, which are not "Roadmap" items but are still important fixes nonetheless. We don't have set-in-stone dates for when certain things are coming. It's also not really possible to share the nitty gritty details of each roadmap item at the moment, for a variety of reasons.
You nailed pretty much all the most important needs. I hope were not talking about very many months, especially regarding the NPE. I don't understand how all these things still need doing and the game is not still in beta. Anyways I'm looking forward to all the goodies! |

No no, they spent a year in which the basic mechanics actually worked very well. I recall the basic mechanics (minus vehicle controls) were well fleshed out in Chromosome. Aiming was smooth, getting randomly stuck on stuff was almost a non-existant problem, and all the weapons worked and were reasonably balanced, at least to the point where you would see at least 1 instance of lasers and mass drivers per match usually. So for a year, the game worked and people enjoyed it and we only wanted content and minor bug fixes.
Then we got Uprising, and somehow, and I really don't know how, they managed to break litterally every single one of those things. Aiming feels iffy, you get randomly stuck on terrain, a lot of weapons are useless, needles are more broke than they were, and they took the mountain out of Manus Peak. That right there is their biggest crime. |

Failing to meet a deadline for giving us information is a whole 'nother beast from failing to deliver the product by a deadline. The former is wholly inexcusable. |

Unfortunately with scrum development, how CCP operates, and how many times each of these features MUST be visited between patches (its not going to be a single big hammer fix) while may seem like a 'todo' is really a road map ccp uses nonetheless because it does allow for a great deal of freedom in solving the stated issues in making the player/developer story driven roadmap become true.
On some of these items I expect them to be permanently on the roadmap. While it may get shuffled around and changed on its order of focus, some of these things will and should remain on the list even after this roadmap of the next 6 months are done.
It may not be like planetside 2's roadmap (which if you been paying attention to all the latest updates lately has gone horribly off road lately) laced with specific features with plans and exact details on how these features are going to be MONTHs well ahead of actual implementation with little to no consideration to the month before, or the current game play and how unagile the game is, it just further shows that such a restrictive roadmap can be very very hurtful. I seriously don't want to wait to the end of the current roadmap cycle to see when they will fix the VS MAX overdrive ability and RIP 4th continent.
You can't put a time stamp on some of these, and there are things that have to be dove back into to repair again.
And you have to be honest, Dust 514 needs this list regardless if its a ordered todo list or a timestamp-less roadmap. |

I don't follow PS2 and its not relevant here. You are right 'Dust needs this list regardless'. This list is what companies will use internally on a daily basis as part of project management. However, a roadmap is essential if they are trying to deliver feature rich content over many years. And I can't believe they don't have one. If they don't this may explain many things....
I am not going to explain what a roadmap is as people can google it. But times / dates are used. Sometimes just by using quarters as dates or years etc. Roadmaps are not specific to gaming but are used by many organisations delivering much more complicated scenarios than this game.
The attorney general posted the following in a previous roadmap thread which makes sense and is most probably the reason one isn't posted:
Quote: The seemingly logical conclusion is that those plans are so far off tjat divulging that info would drive people away.
We already know that item trading and dust/eve transfers are way out there. It even has me wondering if waiting is worth it considering the Ps4 coming. I might be better served to delete dust and let my passive run while they get their act together.
If they tell people that racial variants are for the holidays, new game modes are next year, and the rest of the vehicles are 18 months away, people will realize that 8 months of passive will get them the new stuff and stop buying boosters.
There are parts of this game that are really good. It is not being developed well, and is sufferring because of it.
The dream of potential only sells so much and if I were one of those poor folks who spent more than 50 bucks supporting this game I would be quite mad that CCP had taken me out behind the woodshed and not even bought me dinner before getting elbow deep in my rear.
