Is there a schedule like path for add ons, content patches, balance patches and so on? I just like to know, Dust514 is not even half finished and (if you ask me) should not left the beta. But well, now it is here, but without content. So I was wondering, who frequently will CCP patch this GÇ£released beta clientGÇ¥ with all this promising sweets like PVE, all drop suits (IGÇÖm not even talking here about the advanced. just basics, you know, all heavyGÇÖs, all lights), vehicles and so on. Things that a complete game should includeGǪ
But well, letGÇÖs stop the trolling for a short moment: Dear CCP, you have a rough plan for patching this game, like GÇ£once in a month, several content crumbsGÇ¥? Or will you wait and collect till you have a significant amount of chances before delivering? Do you plan on releasing a bigger content patch around the same time where eve gets their half year add ons? How would you like to handle the balancing patches? More frequent or orientating on with the content patches? Is there a roadmap somewhere where we can see, what you are doing, and what is in the short, mid and long-term plan? If not, do you plan to make one?
Now that I have asked this, would you like to know what I like to see asap? Group PVE content. What would you, dear reader, like to see asap?

You should see how Eve was back then.
Yes I know that, I do play it for a couple of years now. I dind't start 2003, but back in my days, there where not even skillques. But there where all basic ships for example 4 times 3 BSs. And by saing it is done, I mean something like the core is done. Fundament, grounding, basis, basement, call it as you like as long as you get what I mean :). In dust, we dont have a finished fundament, but ccp calls this game "released". |

Iron Wolf Saber wrote:The plan is to try to get expansions every 3-6 months (they're free so no paying 15$ for them) and smaller patches as necessary to fix things between. CCP does express they want to stick to 3 month cycles however developer things DO happen and an expansion may get delayed by a month or two depending on the content.
There is still balance and fix patches on the way the dust from Uprising hasn't settled yet as many things are still unresolved and need fixing. This however doesn't take all the team's time so progress is being made by other teams. For example art and sound teams responsible for new content rarely have to go back and fix things so they're pumping out more artwork such as more buildings, weapons, effects, though sometimes the new things replace old things it is still progress forward.
So does this mean we have to wait for about 2+ months for some new content? I could understand und live with that, but I feel that this game needs help and content asap. Seeing this horrible reviews CCP must somehow feel the same way, right?

Bump. I'm sorry dear reader, but I would really like to have some response from CCP. Even if itGÇÖs something I don't like. Let me try to explain it one more time. I would like to know what CCP is planning on the short, mid and may be long term goal. It could even be the small things, for example letting us know what is considering to balance, so we (the community) have the chance to response and have the knowledge of what is ahead. May be telling us when to expect the next bigger content patch, why is it taking so long.
In the business world, there are a couple rules which can make the live of a service provider a lot easier. IGÇÖm sure I donGÇÖt know them all, but my company has - like every company - some unsatisfied costumers. We GÇ£treatGÇ¥ them with some true information. We explain why something is taking longer than expected, and try to explain (not all have a high understanding in technology) why it is for the best if takes a little longer. The Americans say something like: better save then sorry. Right? So CCP, why not letting us know a little more, I would be a lot more satisfied if I would know more about your problems and the way you are thinking.

To say very soon* would be a lie in my book even though its capable of today it wouldn't be of much thought or consideration and it would offend several people's sensibilities if it was left as raw as it is. It's a bit complicated as we're trying to help CCP out better and to get best overall community results for both the developers and the players so once the CPM gets a fuller picture and talked it out on what to do.
Give me and the rest of the CPM a week and I should be able to get an update on how its going to proceed.
There should be a weekly report from CPM Hans concerning the meeting and the current ongoings. I'ill continue work and get something prepared in case one scenario does come or is forced into fruition.

Well the meeting was pretty big we're still recovering from it and still thinking things talked about over, Few of the CPM may need to sleep on it more but I am going to cut myself a path real quick and get something done on my end just in case. Either way roadmap worded as is, is best kept internally to CCP so a direct copy paste is not going to be for the best for anyone on either side of the fence.
agree. a direct sopy/past would not be smart. we as the gamers should know the official roadmap, where points are some how save. A dev roudpat is to mutch evolving, it would only hurt us to see things come and go :). |

I could be very easy for CCP to get me back, all they need to do is make the game more interesting, I for example like the idea of how Destiny manage the PVE content, I have seen a couple of interviews and IGÇÖm exiting now to see how they manage it. Also I preordered The District from Ubisoft.

I for example don't want to see the internal roadmap. It would hurt me a lot to see things come and go, see things more up and down in priority. Just let me see a more "mature" roadmap.
And please do it soon, like the soon we like, and not the soonTM you are using *giggle*.

CCP Eterne wrote:The dev blog we put out on Tuesday was our Uprising + the Future dev blog. If you want a more detailed look at our roadmap, here are the things we'll be working on over the coming months.
- Upgrading the New Player Experience so you have greater context, immersion, and are better prepared to survive in DUST.
- Improving controls for aiming
- Balancing Instant Battles so players are matched better
- Making sure all battles hit a consistent 30 FPS minimum for our current max battle sizes
- Improving vehicle movement
- Balancing vehicles so each has a role and is balanced both versus other vehicles and infantry
- Improving infantry movement
- Making getting into battles provide more context about what's going on, why you're fighting, etc.
- Improving Planetary Conquest and making it more meaningful and interesting to be involved with
- Improving Factional Warfare, making it more interesting, and rewarding players who are loyal to a faction somehow
- Fixing bugs and exploits
- Improving overall gear balancing so there is no "best" choice and there are tactical choices to make
- Improving situational awareness tools through the UI
- Improving the fitting experience through UI and better integration with the market
There are also things that are not high level roadmap stuff that we'll be working on. Stuff like the addition of snow in Uprising 1.2 is a good example of this. For example, we have some other graphical improvements coming in 1.3, such as some changes to sites and scopes to improve visibility in certain environments, which are not "Roadmap" items but are still important fixes nonetheless. We don't have set-in-stone dates for when certain things are coming. It's also not really possible to share the nitty gritty details of each roadmap item at the moment, for a variety of reasons.
Thank you for your replay and the sharing. I am thankful, really.
The points you have named are balancing points in my eyes, so does this mean you just not telling us the "content-road-map"? If yes would this mean, that you have a extra timeline for content? A content oriented road map / timeline would be very nice to have, if this is possible please share it :).
People listen to me for one second, if we keep complaining after a dev told us some thing, we should not be surprised if they keep the information and contact a minimum like blizzard "its done when its done (go **** yourself)". And I'm sure that there are a lot more points on the list like vehicles. Keep one last thing in mint; this list does not look like a priority list. The top point most not be the most important and the last point less important. Its just a summary. |
