yeeeah. This seems a bit like CCP committing seppuku. This, combined with the OP TAR's, gimped ranges (on everything else) and ****-poor hit detection...
I'm seriously considering just hanging the game up for a while and letting CCP figure out why their game sucks on their own time, because listening to the "vocal minority" here on forums is apparently below them. Don't know why they even had a beta, seems they just go off impulse from things they see in internal testing anyway. I respect CCP for what they've done with EVE, but they've taken a promising game, and turned it completely around, and it just keeps going further south.

These things are such a bad idea, really dont see why these were needed at all.
I like the idea of having nade variants with different fuse times for varying dmg (longer fuse time=higher dmg). With Flux you could have greater radius per longer fuse time. This lets the player find their own spot but doesnt do away with at least some what of a fuse time.
But explode on contact grenades are just bad for CQC. |

One way I can think of fixing it would be to make it similar to Halo's sticky grenade, except it can stick to surfaces as well as dropsuits and vehicles. Although the "contact" part needs to be removed and given a proper fuse timer. Throw strength can be reduced so its more of a CQC strategic grenade while the original locus grenade can have an increased throw range. It will only do max damage when it actually attaches to someone and the aoe damage is nerfed, similar to MD's direct/indirect damage formula.
This would make them unique without completely overshadowing the original grenades. |

Splash damage on all 6 shell of the Exo-5 (1 complex damage mod, prof 3) = 870 with a blast radius of 3.88.
Splash damage on all 6 shells of the Freedom (1 complex damage mod, prof 3) = 912 with a blast radius of 4.13.
Splash damage on all 3 contact grenades = 1200 with a blast radius of 6.00
Now I just need to figure out if I can pump out the 3 grenades faster than I can pump out the shells of my MD. |

Can't you just let an MD lover run around in peace spamming pillows .
But between you and me, as soon as I'm done building my Minnie logi, up next is a Minnie assault with proto swarm, proto flaylock, and flux nades.
EDIT: Already used my respec to go with MD again (op 5; prof 3). I'll sit there and wait on it until they buff the blast radius... |

I was in closed beta and I remember the RE spam and the Cavity thunkker nade spam, no one wanted them other than the users. There tons of threads about them and you actually addressed the RE situation and the contact nade situation.
CCP you've forced my hand, I now will use the fused nades until the dust community is angry enough to create dozens of threads about contact nades to force your hand again because obviously you guys forgot what happened in closed beta. |

They were initially removed because they were game breaking (and yes no isk variant, but in reality they were game breaking). Now they are bringing them back.
Not that long agol grenade timers were shortened. They had to be changed back because shortened timers were game breaking. everyone was throwing them at each others feet not shooting.
Seriously, what the **** are you doing. Fix the mechanics and dont bring things into an FPS that shouldn't be there.
