I am guessing these have no bounce, which means for some players and some skills the timed ones will work out better. I've had some kills which were only possible because I was able to bounce the grenade.
There are other situations I don't care to describe, that mean that the traditional version still has its niche.
Of course, one of the two will be deemed the better one, so most people will end up using it. Is that a problem? Only if it makes grenades more powerful than we think they should be. |

It's one thing to have explode on contact grenades, but another to have explode on contact grenades with no SP requirement, 400(?) damage, low CPU/PG costs, and very cheap AUR-(possibly ISK)wise. |

I will never stop saying over and over and over and over and over again that ANY ISK OR AUR contact grenade IS A BAD IDEA and only encourages for aim to the feet behavior. Or last resort win button when close to die.

well said.. I don't even mind them being part of a merc pack as before, due to it being 'limited'
keeps them from being prevalent on the battle field...

Ever ran into a situation where your target ran out of ammo and throws a locus grenade at your feet in a last ditch effort? Wheres you could simply run past it assuming he didnt take the risk of cooking it, with contacts you would already be dead.
Dont even get me started on those people who would spam it in CQC like an insta-gib shotty. |

The only way I see this working is if the damage is reduced by allot, and the PG and CPU requirements are increased. |

A Caldari Logistics merc leaning on his LAV, TAC over one shoulder, fuse nade in the other, with a dropship in flames plummeting to the ground in the background.

Replace the Dropship with a HAV blowing up in the background and you will have 2 posters. |

Now I'm just curious.
How did that HAV get all the way up there?

They actually wouldn't be that bad if they only did like 300dmg. This way, they could be strategically used to dmg an opponent OR would need 2-3 nades to kill someone. This would balance them with the other grenade variants.
Haven't been on to check the market, but it they're 400dmg (at std level), they're similar in dmg to regular nades, making them superior.
No reason to use any grenade other than the fused locus. |
