Moving around and through structures cause many more instances where the avatar sticks when trying to go around things, or gets stuck on terrain.

Agreed. This issue makes gameplay unsmooth. This needs to be fixed along with all the previous bugs prior to uprising if you don't want the would to laugh at you when you remove the "beta" tag. CCP did everything to polish the looks, but failed so badly and fixing core issues that have been around, and now are creating more problems too. 10 years my ass. |

Hey guys! I'm CCP Tigris, a senior level designer working on DUST 514. We will provide updated map images as soon as we can. In the meantime, if you find yourself getting stuck at a location in a map or if you notice other collision issues, if you could provide me with a description of where you are finding these issues (such as "next to a rock near a truck on the south side of the four-objective skirmish map with the big towers") , I will do my best to locate that area and reproduce the issue.
Thank you very much! |

i bet it's too late to implement but back in time in 2003 in planetside one you had a command that were allowing you to auto send coordinate of the place you where stuck in (was not the /stuck command, was another one i dont remember |

The issue is that it isn't necessarily one place. it is any object. It is too wide spread of an issue to just say hey- i get stuck here and point. Boxes, railings, walls, null canons, you name it!
I'd have to say I get stuck here and wave my hands in a grandiose sweeping motion. |

Exactly the same for me.
I only worked with Unreal Engine 0-2.5 and never touched 3 but this smells like a very poorly done automated map optimization sweep. |

I'd have to say I get stuck here and wave my hands in a grandiose sweeping motion. This.
It's not that particular spots are sticky, it's more like every raised surface or object placed on the map. Bushes and such don't stick you, but anything you normally shouldn't be able to walk through tends to grab you if you get too close or bump it the wrong way. I've walked past corners of rocks and buildings with a good 0.5m distance between me and the edge and still got hung up on it, and it happens ALL OVER the maps.
I will say I haven't hung up on a small box crate like the ones we had last build that are stacked onto each other. Yet. |

I get stuck or glued to most of the large 'freight crates' that are mostly on all maps, specially at the corners of the prop (when you try to run around it).
I also get stuck on a map which has players battle over a Gallente complex. Specifically there are gaps in the outer walls of the complex which have been destroyed and also have bits of wall rubble on the floor. If you try to pass through this gap the avatar will constantly fall through the floor and get stuck. |

But I've been most conscious of it when travesing slopes/sides of hills. Areas which I had no trouble traversing in Chromasome have become sticky-deathtraps in Uprising. |

Agreed its much worse and does not seem to be in one particular spot.
I mainly get stuck running up stairs and as I turn at the top get stuck on the railings or wall, I'm not running into it, more like brushing past it, can't see the edge of it on the screen, but it stops me dead. |

Railings and walls seem particularly common examples of the new "stickiness" |

Agreed, its not /stuck per se, its that EVERY object you brush up against stops you from moving, every crate, every wall, every railing. Its like the world is made of superglue and you have to keep from touching any object or it will snag your shirt.
It feels like there is no sliding physics setup like most other games have. |

This is exactly true. Any edge of an object that you can "slide" along will cause you to become stuck. Additionally the top of stairs that have a "bezel" around the top step also cause you to become stuck. |

It seems to happen on almost every single wall or object in the game at some point. The new textures and shaders, they are made of velcro?
But running across any of the slopes near the pull out above objective C on "Manus Peak" style map I have been able to get "stuck" on slopes moving along the contour line. Not up or down, but around any slope, following the slope at the same elevation.
And yes, getting stuck while traversing slopes is back to E 3 levels of quicksand on a hillside. |

I will concur with most posters that this is an issue with an overwhelming number of terrain features throughout various maps. I do not notice it so much with "man-made" objects or structures, but most of the natural terrain (small hills, rock outcropings, etc...) make you feel like you are wading through quicksand. The issue severely hampers the ability to maneuver, evade and engage in most reflexive combat situations. |

This issue has been around for quite some time, unfortunately. It's still very prominent in this build.
Simply, clipping a wall, edge of a doorway, railings, etc. oftentimes get me stuck completely still (and often killed -_-). You would think you would just roll off of your shoulder or hip if you ran into something at an angle...
Can't the programmers put some sort of line that calculates the speed and angle you are moving at, when you collide with something. Then you move at a lower speed while you're "running into a wall at an angle"... Think the old Doom/Wolfenstein shooters
Its hard to give details on where it happens... because it happens damn near everywhere. |

essentially corners or anything resembling corners, including but not limited to areas where a higher terrain slope meets a lower terrain slope, railings, so on, if there is a bump that you want to walk around it's made of glue
and i still get a lot of bouncing from not deciding if i can stand places, this is almost everywhere with a moderate terrain slop, most notably though near the top or bottom of a hill, again where terrain slope goes from high to low... |

Hi,
If there were only a few examples it would be easier to provide you with information; however, the problem is widespread. I'm getting hung up on minor elevation changes all over the place.
and then there are the invisible walls. For example, on the Manus peak map between C and A there is a small island of rock. On the C side of this formation below the spire and between a smaller rock on the ground there is a significant invisible barrier. It can be jumped over...
Also, in general I fell like I have to overcome a small but irritating velcro like adhesion if I get too close to many of the objects in the game including people. |

Happened multiple times last night:
On ashland skirmish atop objective A platform there are several cargo containers near the catwalk. While attempting to round, noticed that tie-downs on corners were able to halt me in my tracks. Confirmed by making multiple ccw rotations around container closest to catwalk.
On skim junction at objective c i was hung up on the wall several times. The wall opposite the recessed terminal at c has multiple areas that stick out like ribs/spines (tall, back-slanted from floor to 10+ meters overhead). The worst offender is the rib on the corner to the south or C. When rounding that corner after hacking C i would encounter enemies, turn back toward C, and attempt to sprint back toward C to elude the enemy. Upon coming into contact with the wall (vectoring nearly parallel to that path) the wall would halt me in my tracks.
Can duplicate, hope this helps. |
