Hey guys,
I hope you all had a good week last week and a good weekend. If you attended FanFest, thank you for coming out and I hope you had as much fun as I did! :D It was a truly amazing time and I thank you all for being part of this amazing community.
I have been so busy over the last week and a bit I have not paid any attention to the forums, twitter, or IRC and so have missed a lot.
Today is... well as the title suggests a bit of a recovery day. So while I attempt recover I would like to ask you all the following:
What did I miss? Events, forums posts, questions, stuff.
Please keep in mind that I am on team True Grit and we worked on the following for Uprising:
- Planetary Conquest
- Corp/Alliance mail/chat
- Personal/corporation wallet history
- Other small stuff
Questions outside that I can't really answer. Now is your chance to catch me up on stuff and for me to chill with you guys. |

How long do you plan on keeping Planetary Conquest as how you've described it at the Fanfest presentation? Okay, that's not so clear. Will there be lots of minor tweaks and changes to the system after you let us see how much we can 'break' it? I was just wondering, 'cause I had the intention of creating a page on PC on wiki.dust514.info but if this upcoming version of PC is a small step or a 'test' release which could be modified depending on how we react to it, should I wait a few weeks after Uprising to start compiling information that won't be changed in the long-term?
I'm definitely not exploiting a mod thread to gain publicity for our wiki either. |

:P I may have tweeted your wiki.
We will always be working to balance planetary conquest. How much and how often will depend greatly on how much is needed to get it to a stable, well balanced, and enjoyable place. |

Glad to be back to posting! :D
With Uprising you can view the 20 (I think 20, will double check the client later today as CCP Cognac did it and is not in the office, something about recovering :P ) latest wallet transactions for both your personal wallet and the corporation wallet. For the corporation wallet you will need to be the CEO or director to see them.
We want to add paging to it later so that you can go back and see more previous transaction, but that will have to come later. |

Nothing you missed, per se, but if we have your attention for a bit, one question that formed in my mind and grew in intensity while watching the twitch feed throughout fanfest, is this:
What percentage of the player base (in broad terms) do you want/expect to be able to be involved, at least semi-regularly, in Planetary Conquest? Same for Factional Warfare?

The expansion of planetary conquest in low-sec will depend greatly on how many people are participating and fighting over the planets. We know we want to see lots of fighting, but we want people to have a chance at owning a district. So when we expand it will just depend on how many people are playing it. |

Just for the sake of having you know. People were posting something about wanting to have different game modes on Planetary Conquest. I don't know if you are the correct one to be given this information, but I'm posting it.
Will there be a possibility of having different game modes in PC (either you guys randomizing the system server side or adding it as a client-side feature afterwards)?
As for Faction Warfare... is there a chance that you guys will add a Loyalty Points system, like there currently is in EVE? |

Will the launch of planetary conquest be one of these:
- A) Everything opens up on may6,
corporation leadership burns out on handling districts, player donations from reimbursed items, getting timezone defenses correct and gathering up troops.
- B) Everything opens up on may14,
corporation leadership burns out on scouting star map features while racing to get districts and stalling back the hordes of eager players
- C) Starmap and all functions open up on may6, genolution packs are sold starting at may14,
corporation leadership scouts stuff from may6 to may14, everyone is ready for the purchase of packs and the districts are joyously named with happy names like garden of new eden, wonderland etc... until the slaughter begins. the slaughter luckily begins in PC the same day that newbies rush in for the official launch, leaving them relatively unviolated in public matches

FoxFour, so, when we enter Alliance chat, will we be able to openly chat with our alliance? If so, how will this work in EVE? similar to fleet chat? or will EVE players not have the voice option? (for now?)
Furthermore, Since True Grit seems to be affiliated with the alliance/corp functionality of DUST, can you give us a gauge to when more roles will be available to our CEO's? Not being able to have officer roles is really hurting the flow of the game.
Very soon? Soon? SoonGäó? Or at least can you tell us roughly how high it is on the priority list of True Grit? Thanks! |

They did announce that Molden Heath was the place where this was all taking place at the Eve keynote, I believe (one of the keynotes). I was talking to some friends in Eve and many of them thought that Molden Heath was won of the richest lowsec areas. I think it has a constellation pivotal for making boosters (eve drugs) and it is right next to a flashpoint for two big coalitions, Northern Coalition and the Drone Coalition. I was told it was so rich that a lot of pirates roam around in Machariels or battleships that can be valued over 1 billion isk depending on how they are fit. The Goons are also nearby and will likely make themselves seen and/or heard at points.
So basically there will be a lot of people 'assisting' in settling these planets. I'm expecting some epic losses on the Eve side. There are a lot of good news outlets out there that summarize some of the big battles. I wonder if we could start to have Eve killreports like the nearest celestial so that we can see kills that occur over planets. |

So then go "poke" the person responsible.
Patch notes are needed, but what is completely frustrating is the lack of the list and stats on items, weapons, and suits that was promised to us.
You played enough Eve to know how theory crafting works. So go and take that knowledge and impart upon that person who is in sufficient power as to get things done, that we need that info ASAP.
Those of us with big plans, need to start planning.
I appreciate you being on to answer for your department, I just wish that more of the devs were willing to do the same for their stuff.
BTW, the PC presentation was very informative and clear, you did a great job. |

What if we wind up with a miniature Blue Donut (MH is kinda donut-shaped), or even a slug fest- but only between a small number of corps/alliances?
How rarified does PC have to get (how small of a number of different alliances holding districts) before we see new regions? |

As for proper patch notes, I am looking into that matter now. We tend to release patch notes on patch day, however.
As for the dev blog on assets, I am trying to get it put out today or tomorrow. However, a ton of people are traveling today after FanFest, so I can't promise it. I don't care about assets, you can take everything, even my officer gear. Even the patch notes are only half important, as they will be what they will be.
What I want to know about is the list of items, weapons, and suits that was promised in the first Dust cast.
You know we need that, and we know that the build is finished, so you have the info.

Are we getting an in depth overview of the skill changes and a list of all the skills and what they do before the update, respec and PC hits, or will we have to franticly skill ourselves on the fly as soon as the update happens so we can be effective in the initial PC push.
Because, just saying, it'd be cool to know WTF so as to not make any terrible choices when the rush happens.
(TBH, I kinda wish that PC didn't start till a week or so after the update and respec, so everyone got a chance to re-learn the game...) |

Those of us with big plans, need to start planning.
I appreciate you being on to answer for your department, I just wish that more of the devs were willing to do the same for their stuff.
BTW, the PC presentation was very informative and clear, you did a great job.
Pokes have been sent.
Thank you very much, I was really conflicted about how much information to put in the presentation and how detailed to go. There were some technical difficulties which delayed the start of my presentation as well, and on top of that there was no way to tell the time while on stage. During practice my presentation went much longer so I talked a bit fast during it. Glad to hear it still came across nice and clear. :D |

The expansion of planetary conquest in low-sec will depend greatly on how many people are participating and fighting over the planets. We know we want to see lots of fighting, but we want people to have a chance at owning a district. So when we expand it will just depend on how many people are playing it. I'm glad to hear that new regions can be opened up without waiting for a major release. What if we wind up with a miniature Blue Donut (MH is kinda donut-shaped), or even a slug fest- but only between a small number of corps/alliances? How rarified does PC have to get (how small of a number of different alliances holding districts) before we see new regions?
We will continue to balance planetary conquest to always try and upset that blue doughnut if it happens. There are lots of numbers we can try and tweak.
As for when we open up more regions, we don't have any exact metric we are looking to hit to do that. Being honest, it will be much more a see how it goes type thing. |

Nice job on presentation and EVR looks awesome. You guys need to make that dogfight game real. And tied in to EVE would be even better. And maybe only 2 or 3 years in development before release. I am not asking for much, I know...
Also, along the lines of planetary conquest, what will be first on the roadmap? Station invasions, null sec, or fights on different planet types, such as attacking gas giant mining operations or battles on lava planets?
Also, any plans to bring districts to smaller chunks of stellar real estate? Moon or asteroid colonies, etc? |

Well, if it was planned during the Fanfest week... it probably was.
Seriously, though-
I think Reav is expressing a very valid concern. I know I've seen the same concern echoed all over the boards.
It sounds like people would much rather have clone packs unavailable until the 14th so that they have a little time to view the timers and get their money together. As Reav said, it also lets people get their gear on. |

If there are tech limitations that require PC to be shipped with Uprising at least deliver ALL gear on 5.6 and save new maps and Domination mode for 5.14.

Since you're working on mail I need to ask if this is or will be fixed.
With the neocom, for contacts and corp search, when you select a text box to bring up the keyboard for entry, you press X. For mail however, pressing X SENDS, which is a bit annoying if you accidentally hit it thinking it'll bring up the keyboard, and end up sending a blank message. How simple would it be to just flip what the X and Square buttons do? Or make the whole thing consistent across the game so only Square brings up the keyboard. (Though if you did that, I'd still like send be moved to a button box at the bottom of the message, or set to the triangle button instead of X.)
(Yeah, the chat screen also uses Square that way, but since X doesn't do anything there unless you have it on the lists, it's less of an issue.) |

Hey Foxfour, great to meet with you and drink with you at Fanfest. I still owe you 2 beers for losing that bet (you can collect them next year) and my wife was surprising cheerful that she got to talk about the pros/cons of python code!
Anyway, I have some questions, so here they are:
1) So since we can attack districts that belong to corps in our alliance. How do the OBs work in those cases, since the only rule you've told us is that anyone in the alliance can provide OBs.
Will they essentially be able to fire for both sides?
2) You mentioned during your PC talk that the loot chance to drop is 50% (just like eve). Does this apply to every suit, vehicle and everything fit on them (mods, weapons, equipment, grenades etc.) ? Because that is A LOT of loot.
How will the loot be shared amongst the mercs in battle? |

Simple question:
Corps taxes and Corps asset management? Any plan for uprising?
As a Dust CEO, it is very hard to manage our Corps without any Corp's tool. Trading asset from player to corps and corps to players, managing income and roles, all good stuff and could keep our players motivated and structured.

Not for uprising. Corp TAX is on the roadmap and so is corporation hangers; that being said corp TAX is on the roadmap ahead of the corp hanger. |

If there are tech limitations that require PC to be shipped with Uprising at least deliver ALL gear on 5.6 and save new maps and Domination mode for 5.14.
Interesting point, this makes me wonder if the new maps will have any tie in to PC? Could there be new infrastructure upgrades in the pipe possibly? I have a feeling that one map could involve a star-crane/space elevator. |

Anyway, I have some questions, so here they are:
1) So since we can attack districts that belong to corps in our alliance. How do the OBs work in those cases, since the only rule you've told us is that anyone in the alliance can provide OBs.
Will they essentially be able to fire for both sides?

:D Dude, it was lots of fun! Thank you so much for coming and hanging out in Iceland for Fanfest. Always glad to have a nice conversation about python.
1) I will have to defer to CCP Nullarbor on this on this one as he coded that, he is however not in the office today. Something about recovering. 2) :) It is indeed a LOT of loot. Enjoy. |

(Yeah, the chat screen also uses Square that way, but since X doesn't do anything there unless you have it on the lists, it's less of an issue.)
We are aware of this issue however there are no changes coming to it for Uprising. We hope to be looking at it in the future though. |

Minmatar scout
how is it different than the current scout?
Light/Medium/Heavy basic suits
Can they go all the way to prototype?
Ammar assault / Gallente Assualt/ ect.
What makes these different than the caldari assault other than hp amounts? Are some faster? More damage? Are you looking to make one race more tanky? Whats happening in 6 days!

As promised for Etero Narciss, a shortened version of the internal document for choice in region.
Quote:The following regions are involved in FW so are removed:
- Devoid
- The Bleak Lands
- The Citadel
- Black Rise
- Essence
- Verge Vendor
- Placid
- Heimatar
- Metropolis
The following regions are removed because they are null sec:
- Wicked Creek
- Venal
- Vale of the Silent
- Tribute
- Tenerifis
- Tenal
- Syndicate
- Stain
- The Spire
- Scalding Pass
- Querious
- Pure Blind
- Providence
- Parrigen Falls
- Period Basis
- Paragon Soul
- Outer Ring
- Outer Passage
- Omist
- Oasa
- Malpais
- The Kalevala Expanse
- Insmother
- Impass
- Immensea
- Great Wildlands
- Geminate
- Fountain
- Fethabolis
- Fade
- Etherium Reach
- Esoteria
- Detorid
- Deklein
- Curse
- Cobalt Edge
- Cloud Ring
- Catch
- Cache
- Branch
Removed due to mostly being high security:
- Kador
- The Forge
- Everyshore
- Tash-Murkon
- Domain - Also just ungodly big.
- Lonetrek - What low security space it does have is broken up by high security
- Sing Laison
- Kor-Azor
- Derelik
- Genesis - Actually is more low security space, but it is all broken apart by high security pockets.
To many temperate planets:
- Metropolis - Double the number of worlds we wanted, half of it is high security, and it is just a REALLY large region
- Khanid
- Derelik - This was almost removed for high security space, but the low security stuff is basically all group together so it would work.
- Arridia
This left us with two regions: Comparing the two of those left us with Molden Heath for the following reasons:
- There is less high security space breaking things up; the three low security systems in Solitude shown at the bottom of the Dotlan map don't even have temperate planets.
- Molden Heath has more varying stratigic value with systems hidden away behind other systems with no temperate planets. Attrition means those will be harder to take.
- Molden heath is cleaner and easier for us to show on the new infographic map. Something to consider when it is the first and only region out the gate and the one that will be the most viewed.
- Molden Heath is also more active from the EVE side of things.
This is a shortened version of the document I have internally, but it should give you a general idea. |

Thank you! That means a lot. :)
As for the RTS style elements and such, they were talked about very briefly several times; mostly when people asked about them. The general response was we still want to do them, a lot, but are focused on other areas right now. |

The ISK and loot distributed at the end of a match for planetary conquest will be based on on time spent in the match. Not WP and not evenly (unless all the players joined at the same time). You will also get loot/ISK if you leave the match, again only if you were in it for more than 60 seconds. |

I might say here that it punishes teams that don't divide their damage and support up well. Logis in this next build will still be the worst off since
A) they will be the least popular (similar to vehicle drivers) and thereby see the least usable salvage, meaning they will run at a loss B) They will be targetted first more often which means higher loss rate. |

And not to put anyone out of a job but a community supported world builder to help with the large sizes of ships constructions. It could be a nice market to buy a community ship overhaul for isk or aur. |

For two different attacks yes.
When you do an attack for 1 hour after the START of the battle your corp, and only your corp, can launch another attack. That follow up attack can come from any of your districts. |

Also, districts are locked after battle? Can they be reinforced with clones immediately from other districts, kinda like moving pieces after a turn of Risk? |

You would have to move the clones to one district first and then move them from there.
Districts are not locked after a battle. They are locked after a battle if the attacker wins the district, but they are locked because the district has a new owner.
Districts stay as under attack for one hour after a battle starts. During that time only the attacker can launch another attack. If they do this of course the district will remain as under attack after the battle. |

You will also get loot/ISK if you leave the match, again only if you were in it for more than 60 seconds. But that's not fair, if I contribute more I should get more! do you not see that? or are you blind foxfour? Planetary conquest is about working as a team for the team objective of winning and conquering planets. Okay. you got a point. I'll just rely on my corp to feed me ISK if I can't run full proto still (highly doubtful but whatever)
Time based payout is good.
It will reward mercs who do things for the good of the team, that don't generate WPs. Things like repping vehicles, repping other mercs when you hit that cap that means you don't get points for a while, flushing people out of cover for others to kills, flying a drop ship just to ferry mercs around, providing intel from a vantage point ect. |

There is at most one battle a day per district. So yes you could launch another attack, but it will be the next day. |

You can launch another attack while the first is happening yes, again it won't happen until the next day though. Unless no one captures any null cannons for the entire match you should have plenty of time to launch an attack after the battles ends.

It's up to you to decide whether you further improve that build, or add diversity to it by waiting for new weapons. Yes, it does put you at a slight disadvantage, but it's honestly not that big of a difference, and keep in mind that everyone will have the same choice to make. |

Good job today FoxFour, this forum has needed someone to spend a day answering peoples questions n relaying them to other devs ... much appreciated.
I brought up a question not so long back about chat channel being switched automatically when joining battles, even if you already have the softkeyboard open typing in another channel ... https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=669166#post669166
Any news from the people you forwarded it to ?
Thanks again, I'm sure from all of us, for spending time with the wider community today and for your excellent presentations at FanFest, and to everyone else involved there too.
Ohh there's also been a lot of tears harvested over the DUST items in the Collectors Edition ... could you make enquiries into whether people will be able to sell unwanted items either ingame from DUST to Eve and vice versa when the market allows or whether it would be against RMT or anything else for them to sell the codes on ebay etc.
I'm looking forward to using all my gear and at the very least spinning my ships :-) ... preordered mine the minute the Evestore came back from the maintenance it was in seconds after the announcment ! lol. |

Quarters are based on the station you are based out of. Although I remember reading that one or more NPC corps were assigned to stations of a different race than their chosen race. The ability to move between stations is not yet on their roadmap.

Yes, I understand that. However, in the short term, since we can't leave our room except to fight, and exactly what system we are in between missions is irrelevant to everything except local chat, I'd be willing to pay AUR to move out of my standard Amarr Mercenary Quarters in the Amarr Station to:
- Caldari Business Suites
- Gallente Luxury Personal Appartments
- Minmatar Tribal Communal Blocks
Likewise, someone on a Caldari, Gallente, or Minmatar station could purchase a
Amarr Meditative Sanctuary
The rooms were originally supposed to be upgradeable, and the ones we have are the low-rent versions. Unfortunately, the capsuleers got their knickers in a twist about playing "Space Barbies" and the feature was never implemented. Still the groundwork is there, lore-wise, to have interchangeable quarters in the stations. |

How will the loot be shared amongst the mercs in battle? attack corps in your alliance? TRAITOR!!!!!!lol jk |

I'm all for punishing offensive players. Especially the ones who eat chips into the microphone...
Aggressive CHARACTERS on the other hand... They should get lootz. |

I think Reav is expressing a very valid concern. I know I've seen the same concern echoed all over the boards.
It sounds like people would much rather have clone packs unavailable until the 14th so that they have a little time to view the timers and get their money together. As Reav said, it also lets people get their gear on.
Well, you knew Planetary Conquest is coming for a month or so with some estimated prices. You should have already have the ISK for that ;) If not, then, well, tough luck ;)
Honestly, I was thinking more in terms of the Wallet Transactions report than the total amount of money.
Once that is in place, it makes it easier for CEOs and Directors to hound their members for money, but since it doesn't come until May 6th, the corps may not be able to plan their total takeover strategy.
"Can we buy two packs or three?" - That kind of thing. |

Klivve Cussler wrote:Yes, I understand that.
Likewise, someone on a Caldari, Gallente, or Minmatar station could purchase a Amarr Meditative Sanctuary The rooms were originally supposed to be upgradeable, and the ones we have are the low-rent versions. Unfortunately, the capsuleers got their knickers in a twist about playing "Space Barbies" and the feature was never implemented. Still the groundwork is there, lore-wise, to have interchangeable quarters in the stations.
Sadly, the Gallente Luxury Apartments aren't all they're cracked up to be. We're working on a class action suit against CreoDron for selling us couches we can't sit on, beds that are too small to lay on, and a TV that shows nothing but the Home Shopping Network.
Yeah, my hope is that CCP is continuing development of "Avatar-based gameplay" (the new phrase for Walking-In-Stations) because they realize that it is a necessity nowadays.
The five players who actually thought it was just about "Space Barbie" and not intrigue, smuggling, etc. are not a good reason to abandon development of the entire program. Most of us were angry not about the concept, but about the lack of execution.

Why yellow logistics... can i change this or am i stuck being yellow forever?
why leave out the new weapons for the first week of PC? people are going to either have to waste skill points or be less effective that first important week of land grabs |

QUESTIONS (in easy-to-answer form):
1) If district is 'under attack' no normal actions can be performed by or onto it, correct?
2) So in theory a district could be under attack infinitely, without ever getting a single chance of an action? |

On the off chance it's one of those "other small things" that you are associated with, is the PlayStation Move getting any love in uprising? Love using it with sharpshooter but it is woefully broken in this build.
Great job at fanfest, loved the presentation, love the future vision, can't wait to shoot the face off it! ;) |

CCP FoxFour wrote:Hey guys, I hope you all had a good week last week and a good weekend. So while I attempt recover I would like to ask you all the following: What did I miss? Events, forums posts, questions, stuff. Please keep in mind that I am on team True Grit and we worked on the following for Uprising:
- Planetary Conquest
- Corp/Alliance mail/chat
- Personal/corporation wallet history
- Other small stuff
Questions outside that I can't really answer. Now is your chance to catch me up on stuff and for me to chill with you guys.
well i didn`t see any ideas to build off of the arena match modes so i made a thread today for it, "Arena Mode ideas" .... very straight forward title... but the thread itself has the creativity that the title neglects :D
alot of speculation mainly on the Flaylock and the Assualt DSes.
Also made a thread saying what will be coming ni the uprising update, near future and far future tot he pilot role, the threads called "what us pilots need to know (what were getting)." thats all the threads i really made. |

Thank you. But does this rule out that the planetary conquest feature will be released into FW space and will stay only a standard lowsec feature? |

We're all aware that skill points are being reset, but what I haven't been able to find out is if your character creation will be reset? I remember from closed beta to open, we got to keep our names and affiliations to Corps, but also were aloud to reselect which race we were apart of, and which traits and sub races applied. Will this be reset too due to an updated creator? |

Last we heard, the plan was for us to get FW fights as merc contracts.
So, yes. For the time being, FW space still belongs to the empires and is thus unavailable for PC. |
