The gallente rifle should've always been close range, high DPS tbh. That's their racial style. According to the stream today the Minmatar rifle will be the closest match to the AR we know today, focused on balance and versatility. Which is how it should be. Only they didn't increase the AR damage, so its 100% nerf. |

Im just gonna say it, bullet physics like BF3. Hopefully they are working on something similar to it because it pretty stupid to watch bullets disappear 2 feet in front of you and getting spammed with hate mail because im "hacking"... it also breaks the game immersion.

ARs aren't getting nerfed, the Gallente AR is released, the AR we know of today was simply a basic version of what the ARs are going to be. You are only looking at one small part of the big picture, there will be different rifles and different racial versions, the ARs we know are just too perfect, if it stays this way there won't be a need for other racial ARs, because they would all be the same, just with a different paint job. This is bad for people who have grown too fond of the current AR but it this is a good thing in the long run, just think of the kits you can make with just ARs, you'll have an AR kit for every situation, and more will be released later down the road.

It's range is only 'nerfed' for the moment because they haven't sorted out falloff ranges (further than optimal, still capable of hitting target, just reduced damage). That was something they mentioned working on during one of the other Dust panels (Expanding the Core I believe). They are aware that at the moment, after optimal, shots disappear. This is not what they want to have happen.

See, that makes sense, the guns are energy based, energy losses strength as it travels through matter, so the shots would just disappear, if they were to be fired in space it's another story, the ARs don't shoot bullets, so they do not experience Bullet Drop, they do not travel till they hit something, they do not keep the same punch from 30 meters as they reach 80 meters, they get weaker as they travel till they just disappear, it's the same science that says the Death Star in Star Wars was impossible, different mechanics then today's guns, while we are on the topic, "they" shouldn't even be called rifles, they don't shoot bullets, they generate energy, so they have no need for rifling in the barrel, if they even have barrels? |

It is a friggin rifle...it is a medium long range weapon....you have to spend a ton of SP now to get into a decent range and yes it takes skill to hit people far away with an iron sight....it was balanced as it is...now i may as well switch to a shotgun or sub-machine gun...oh wait we already have those....why the hell do a need third close range weapon? A third close range weapon that is crappier at close range then the other two by the way.

Straight up, the reason the Assault Rifle got a range reduction - if at all - is because it's a GALLENTE HYBRID DESIGN. Gallenteans are known for their close range, high damage style in Eve Online.
The Amarr Scrambler Rifle is a good mid-ground that works well against shields. The Gallente Assault Rifle is a short-medium range rifle that has high damage. The Caldari Rail Rifle is intended to replace the current Assault Rifle, trading range for damage. The Minmatar Combat Rifle is a true mid-ground.
Don't like it, go back to MAG/CoD/BF3. This is New Eden and every race has a different philosophy on combat. |

Isn't this all relative anyway? How is this even remotely an issue as long as the AR has more range than anything but the LR, SR and Tac AR?
The weapon could have a 20m range, as long as only the weapons I mentioned above have more range the paper/rock/scissors is intact. GEEZ. |

it gets better when you take into account that its been used on whats basically the wrong suit, imagine for instance overheating the scrambler rifle on a shield heavy caldari assault lol. cant wait to see changes the new skill system brings and all the new weapons |
