Jessica Montoya wrote:If indeed the AR is plasma based then why do you complain? Check eve online. Plasma weapons are blasters. Blasters have short range. Yes it's name is AR. But it doesn't shoot ballistic rounds. It's hybrid plasma rounds.
That and even with no sharpshooter it's range was way to far.
You want an AR with long range wait for mimnatar AR since that one will actually work like an AR in real life since its an actual ballistic weapon. I think that's another reason why so much complaining is going on. They are stating a weapon that doesn't exist should be exactly like a weapon that does exist just because it shares a name. I AGREE (shocker) that the base AR range was excessive. But this is an over nerf, you wouldn't even be able to hit people across the road like that. |

Ladies and gentlemen, can we please end the pointless QQing about nerfed this and changed that? We don't have the build or weapons in our greedy pixelated hands yet, heck we don't even have official patch notes for the wonderful spread sheet geeks among us to dissect and analyze for us yet.
Can we not at least try things out before we QQ? People have begged CCP for variety in weapons, did you think we were going to get 4 assault rifles that were simply different looking and all funtioned the same? CCP isn't aiming to just make Battlefield or CoD in space. |

This is pure gold, if everybody would spent at least 1 hour with the weapon which seems to be OP everybody should know that the game is MOSTLY balanced.

I want to start off by saying I am an AR user. I'm happy about this change because I feel it makes things more balanced. I will miss my range and my ability to counter-snipe with the AR, but lets face it we all know that the AR is broken as is. It is going to change my play style and I am OK with that. Every weapon should shine in its own way, not in all ways. |

As long as the burst Breach and Tactical AR's have better range than the standard AR there shouldn't be any issues. |

Could you throw a grenade that far from ground level UNDER the building? Because that's how you determine grenade range accurately. Height increases the effective range of ballistic weapons, which is why Mass Drivers and dedicated grenadiers like high ground. ARs work with straight lines and a fixed range, so you need to use vector calculations working with the building height (significant) as an increase to the actual distance your shot has to travel.
From a high position, grenades get an effective buff and ARs will have a range nerf.
I understand the difference.. And I know that if you throw a grenade off the end of the world, It's going to go pretty far.. But I also understand that throwing a grenade off of what is effectively a 3 story building, should NOT go farther than a rifle shot. I don't care if it's plasma or not.

In all honesty it doesn't matter as the scrambler rifle will just replace the AR, also I remember in one of the panels where they showed all the new weapons they described the gallante AR as a "Short to Medium Range". That struck me as they might b nerfing it. Looks like they have. |

Whoa whoa whoa! You mean to tell me that other weapons will actually be viable? Laser Rifles will have a place in the new build?
Sign me up! I spec'd into ARs this last cap to give them a proper try. Good lord they're stupidly good. Specialist weapons might be a little better in their proper situations, but the AR is more than a competent match for every one of them, and they're so much more versatile. I'm sorry that they're making DUST into something more than a one weapon game.
Actually, no I'm not. Good on you, CCP. |

Actually, no I'm not. Good on you, CCP. There is a good nerf and a over nerf. This is waaaaay too short of a range. Also lasers are stupidly powerful in the last few seconds of their fire, they are probably the second most popular light weapon. |

On an alt with no Sharpshooter skills, I tried shooting from that rooftop to the CRU.
I couldn't hit the people spawning there. My shots didn't reach.
Guess it's not nerfed after all. |
