I talked with ReGnUM and Uncle AWOL, both of which have said that the AR range has been reduced to a VERY bad level. Uncle AWOL tried to describe to me the range. There is a map that we already have and I forgot its name, but it was the one in the tourney. D and C are under buildings and there is a CRU near C.
If you climb the C building and shoot down at the CRU, you can't hit anyone there. That's how bad it is.
Also, both have told me that the Scrambler Rifle feels more like the old AR. So grab your Amarr holy weapon because the Gallente engineers ****** it up! |

Hasn't been nerfed, but these players are so used to Sharpshooter Proficiency 5 giving them ridiculous range that it feels that ways. This will help to make the tactical a much better option.

You'll probably like the Caldari Gauss rifles then, which have higher range. Or at least that's how he made it sound. Removing sharpshooter sounds like a step in the right direction, but I reserve judgements until 5.14 |

Can confrim reg has said the same thing. Forget the range that SS gives. Not reaching the CRU from the top of C or C in general is indeed a very limited range.
From my understanding this was on the std AR not sure if the breack and tactical variants hold the same. Regardless for 3 weapons who's only difference is the fire control and sight option for it to have lower range is just bad.
Effective range is different the scope increase accuaracy at range because of optic but they should be increasing optimal range as a result.
If you are very good at aiming down sights with an auto AR it should have the same effect as a burst or TAC at the same range. The only difference being there would be tighter grouping in the burst and tac and the sights augment the optics making aiming easier. Thats all it should do.
But yea scramblers are the new, old pre-nerfed AR. So guess its time to start skilling that then. |

This sucks.
Snipers are bad enough when you can't touch them up atop of a mountain now i can't fight back if they are on a high building in medium range....also the laser dudes will be untouchable as well.
It is a friggin rifle...it is a medium long range weapon....you have to spend a ton of SP now to get into a decent range and yes it takes skill to hit people far away with an iron sight....it was balanced as it is...now i may as well switch to a shotgun or sub-machine gun...oh wait we already have those....why the hell do a need third close range weapon? A third close range weapon that is crappier at close range then the other two by the way.
Obligatory "we will see when uprising comes out" and "this is beta so we can't expect everything we like to stay exactly the same" statements. |

The furthest I've gone into ARs is Operation III. I put a GEK on the Assault - Frontline suit and I kitten everything except protobears.
Heavies are dead because I harrass them from long range then sprint into medium range, strafing, and they can't even take out my shields.
Shotgunners? Plz. You need corners to get to me and even then, my spray in close-range is almost as devastating as your wall of lead, unless you're in a scout suit.
Other assault rifles? Throw grenades and run away.
Mass drivers: get up close and shoot.
Lasers: same as MD.
Forge gunners: kill
Nova knife: Laugh and kill
Snipers: Get OHKOd, go sniper hunting, kill
It's effortless, man. EFFORTLESS! I suck at FPS games, and typically go 4 - 16 (this happened yesterday when I got smashed by shotgunners, trying to use a shotgun and failing miserably), but when I equip the AR suddenly a magical force bestows me with uber accuracy and extreme reflexes because suddenly I'm not dying and killing kittenloads of redberries!
My K/D is above 1 only because of the AR. If I had decided to stick to another weapon exclusively, I would have been in pain. This range decrease creates situations which ARE NOT OPTIMAL for the AR. Currently, there are almost no situations where this is the case.
Range boosting modules will probably arrive on the scene in a few years. Wait til them. |

You're supposed to outrange Heavies, that's half of the weakness. If a shotgun can't kill you at close range its because he doesn't hit you. It can one shot a heavy. Mass drivers are area suppresion. Lasers are the exact opposite of get close range, you keep your distance with lasers. In fact lasers have 1800 dps at the last few seconds of their fire, and can swipe you once or twice and you're dead. |

The gallente rifle should've always been close range, high DPS tbh. That's their racial style.
According to the stream today the Minmatar rifle will be the closest match to the AR we know today, focused on balance and versatility. Which is how it should be. |

Someone said they are removing all the sharpshooter skills. So everything will just go down in range. Imo this range thing is stupid. There needs to be bullet physics....
Im just gonna say it, bullet physics like BF3. Hopefully they are working on something similar to it because it pretty stupid to watch bullets disappear 2 feet in front of you and getting spammed with hate mail because im "hacking"... it also breaks the game immersion. |
