This is really pointless :S I would understand if May 6th is everything except PC, and then on May 14th after we got used to the game PC comes in. Why? Its all ready, what's the point of doing it in two stages. Especially since the 14th is release day, so that means if something fucks up, you **** up release day. |

Without the planning time, corp leaderships would get severely burnt out trying to get PC, new setup tactics, donation isk from refunds, right timezone district picks etc done in 1 day.
The best way to do it is "work on suits and setups, get refund, have a look at PC sandbox for week, then go to start PC". As for smoothness on release day, not that crucial. CCP caters for a long term audience with the sandbox politics and stuff. The important part is making the sandbox work and making the players generate endless content like in EVE. That takes a good long time.
CCP is not looking for a series game; there should never be a Dust2. Ccp is trying to do what counter-strike did with its lifespan. The difference is people will play dust for the sandbox and CS for the competitive play.

Read the OP again, everything except PC May 6th, then PC May 14th - good. What CCP is doing - not so much, and just strange tbh.

Well, what kind "testing" does PC even need? PC is just another game mode, except the stakes are higher, it's biggest impact will be on the economy, and it'll take far more than a week to see what kind of impact it actually makes. You're thinking to hard about this. |

The least amount of things that can go wrong the better. You are defending CCP for the sake of defending them, there is no logical reason to not test the build before release. |

the toys and glamer might add more to the game, but more game modes is what I was realy wating for.
Hopefully it is due to it not being ready yet, I hardly need a week to 'get ready' with new skills, I have had what 4 months, when was game made no more wipe beta, and people who have played allot of closed beta a year or so. Even if people need to get ready, get ready by fighting wars over planets, how else would one get ready? Pub matches realy get boring after a while, I can keep winning those with the effort it takes to curb stomp baby's and toddlers.

The update on the 6th is the actual client patch so that's the big one. They probably delayed the weapons and extra maps for the 14th so they would have a little extra time for tweaks based on feedback from fanfest or some final polish. They essentally lost a whole week due to fanfest and may just need the extra time. Also they may just want to test their redesigned content streaming setup to make sure it is working correctly. Remeber until the 14th we're still in beta. |

Okay, here's the deal as I understand it:
(I could be wrong here, but this is what I have heard from fanfest)
Uprising is coming out on may 6th. This should include everything from the new terrain, weapons, PC, domination mode, etc.
On may 14th, there will be an 'event' to mark the launch, called the "Templar Event." CCP announced this in a rountable that wasn't on the stream, and I don't want to spoil it before they make an official devpost. But with this event, there will be a few new gorgeous suit and weapon variants being made available, as well as (I /think/) an event specific map setting.
Like I said. I could be wrong here, but this is how I understand it. Wait for the devpost on the templar event, because it's completely bad-ass. |

That's my concern. Why split it up so we don't have the ability to test it before release? we are testing pc out for like 8 dyas when it comes out on may 6 along with everything else they are adding wich we have no clue is becuase we havent seen patchnotes yet which im looking forward to read No. We don't get to test that on May 6th. That's the problem, they're splitting it up in two parts for no reason what so ever, and my fear is that it will be broken and because they put it out on release day, release day will be a failure. dude yes planetary conquest comes out on may 6 along with other few things , may 14th we dont know what is coming so just chill we are testing pc on may 6 unless you are confused about the uprising build... Watch the fanfest recordings again dude, PC is coming may 14. I think it was the 'ccp presents' one |

Yeah I'm not sure, that's why I put the edit in ... was just the way they were promoting it, it seemed like they were an exclusive item but I'd have to watch the keynote again to see what they said.
As I edited above, they may be exclusive in that they're BPOs ... but it would be a shame to be getting 'exclusive' BPOs of an item in September of something that was given out as BPCs just for logging in to an event (most likely)
Have to see what this Templar event turns out to be, we're only speculating. |

I don't even fully understand what exactly about it makes 5.14 the "release" other than for ceremonial purposes. Not like anyone couldn't play the game for months now anyways with everything carrying over, and Uprising hitting early. Though I'd sort of like it if they released a retail disc version, perhaps make it $40 and give us some cool goodies and AUR. Though that might be confusing for people who don't know you can play it for free.
Also those Templar Amarr blueprints in the EVE Collector's Edition doesn't make much sense. Why give a code for a seperate game? I'd guess most who get it don't play Dust, and many who want it don't play EVE. Oh yes, I expect a fair amount of ebay selling and give-a-ways coming up. Hopefully there are other ways to get it. |

You know, guys, when I started to read this thread it brought a little smile on my face. The reason it brought a smile on my face is because I was just explaining this very thing to the dudes some moments ago, man. And the thing is, it's perfectly natural to wonder and be a little confused on the decisions CCP has taken in terms of rolling out this expansion. Now, guys, I apologise for not being able to give you the full "Ric Barlom take" on this issue as it would not be viable to write down the whole thing on this forum. Nevertheless I'm going to give you guys a quick rundown on the main points from my point of view.
The main issue here is that we have a hard time understanding CCP's logic on this whole thing. Well let me tell you guys something about logic: Logic only works when we are fully aware of the circumstances and all the different factors involved in the equation. So before we can understand the logic we have to understand the situations which CCP is operating under. Now I believe the biggest misunderstand there is, is the fact that an IT project and a game project is not your typical "Daddy wants you you to mow the lawn, you go mow the lawn, daddy gives you a couple of bucks and you go buy yourself an ice-cream sandwich" type a project guys. No, no, no. Dust 514 is not only a huge game, but a huge IT undertaking at the same time. Without going into too much nitty gritty details, suffice to say that there are so many different systems, subsystems and components with moving parts in a creation of your typical Dust expansion that it makes it more complicated than an average teen age relationship.
The bottom line is, guys, that a solution that might seem like the most illogical, unintuitive way to do things for an outsider, might actually be the most elegant solution for an insider. The frustration here is that CCP cannot provide you guys with a satisfactory answer about their logic without teaching you guys the whole system inside and out, with a couple of lessons on IT projects, Game development and project management as supplemental material. I hope that helps. Peace out! |

Well put friend, very well put.
And you are all just disappointed that you won't be getting all your new toys when you were expecting to. Trust me I am too, the thing that disappoints me the most is that we will have to run around in these beautiful new suits with these beautiful new graphics and still be shooting our old standard weapons because we will be saving our SP for the 14th. |
