I like Dust. I like so many things about it.
But there are too many things missing, and no info coming from the devs.
If you feel the same, I encourage you to do the following:
Stop giving them money.
Don't buy merc packs or aurum, don't buy starter packs.
More importantly, either sign in this thread that you will not pay for this type of treatment, or start a thread announcing that you are done giving money until we get some real progress.
CCP has been getting what is a free ride on this beta, because most of us are committed to Dust for the long haul, and are willing to overlook short term problems.
This in turn allows CCP far too much leeway. They need to be shown that the community that is ready to support this game will not be taken advantage of.
Let CCP know that when the game is worth money, you will be a paying supporter, but the current situation is unacceptable.
We want set dates for content releases. We want a proper roadmap for promised features. We want to know how CCP intends to get from what we have now to where they want a release version to be.
We will not get any change in CCPs treatment of the dust player base while people continue to hand over cash. It would be stupid of them to do so.
So lets smarten up and cut off their funding, see if that changes their tune. Only we can make that happen.

In breach of the rules... Also slightly idiotic. Let people pay money if they want to. People also have their own opinions of the game. For example, I enjoy the game. Unlike you, apparently.
3. Ranting is prohibited. A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.

You're free to do what you want with your money, but you can't have everything you want by just throwing a tantrum. They're already working on the game making additions and improvements, so your threats aren't necessary. If anything, not buying stuff might actually slow their progress since its less money to fund development.
If you have been staying informed, you should know that a new build will be out around the time of Fanfest. Big graphical upgrades are coming, there will be planetary conquest where player corporations take over districts, there will be many more dropsuits (1 for each frame size), there will be new weapons, and changes to existing weapons, there will be the return of the improved star map that lets you see the impact of your battles on the universe, there will be the ability to choose your sides in conflicts, and that's just what we know about. |

+1 OP. I bought the merc pack to get in. If paying 20 usd, (compared to 60 usd for a new game) to get in early on a game that I thought I would enjoy makes me stupid, so be it. |

But why would anyone be buying the MT items when they are bound to change any time?
You know the milita BPOs? They used to cost 400-1000AUR Now they cost 4000-12,000AUR
whole AUR items have been removed from the game and as far as we know the whole type-2 suit thing might go out the window when we have racial suits introduced.
How CCP expects to not have a final AUR reset is beyound me.
And I have 5 copies of each milita BPO I bought them for 400AUR each and I'm going to sell them to other players at half market price in AUR. Make a ton of real money.
Um, sorry CCP, but please wipe the AUR and reset it, People shouldn't be losing AUR when thier purchases *save the boosters* are for items that could be removed from the game or will be continually wildly repriced. |

@ Laheon, the very first sentence of my post was that I like Dust. So I don't know why you think I don't like the game. I'm not angry, but I also realize that as long as people are handing cash to CCP, they actually have less impetus to provide concrete information. It is in their interest to not provide concrete information because if they were to announce that the next build is in June, there would be a lag in purchases.
@Horned Wolf: You haven't spent any money, I have. So you don't have any expectations, thats fine, it is just a free game to you. Not so for me. You have obviously gotten your monies worth, I feel that I have not. If this comes across as a tantrum, please not that I am not angry, or even upset. I just realize that in order to compel a change in CCP's methods of dealing with the customer base they need to be affected in the only manner which counts.
Edit: I payed to get into the closed beta because I love the idea behind Dust and I wanted to show my support for CCP. If you haven't spent anything, this isn't a thread for you. |

General, CCP is, and has been, providing most of the funding for this project from proceeds from EVE. It's been in development for four years, but only in June did the merc pack go up.
It's very unlikely that any money lost from buying AUR would have an impact. After all, there are what, 2k people playing this game? As an upper estimate? Let's say 500 of those people have spent money on the game. Let's assume 50 USD each. That's 25k USD. Hardly enough to fund an entire development team.
Your idea is flawed in principle, both in aim and in the idea.
CCP is a private games company. Historically, most of the private games companies provide better quality games than public games companies. For example, CS versus COD. The fact is that private games companies prefer to put out a quality product, whereas public companies are harassed by their investors into providing profits and growth, hence games production is rushed, providing a lower quality good.
In short, don't rush CCP, unless you want an unfinished game. And yes, you're looking for set dates, but even Half Life 3 doesn't have a set date - it's been in development for years. Setbacks arise, and they then face a dilemma: push the deadline back, or released an unfinished product? Personally I prefer it this way. Keep it secret until it's ready. |

Next build is in June. Unless you think that we are going to get a region of New Eden to have PC in without an update to Eve itself.

I agree (which is why I originally bought a merc pack), but the issue is that currently that cash flow is based purely on promises of "soon", with very little of any of it coming to fruition or even being shown it exists. Once the game proves to do the things and has the content they say it will, then I see so reason not to spend money on it (even if it is still considered a beta).

Next Eve update is June 4th. Considering that PC is going to take place in a region where there are currently no districts, it is only logical that in order to have our PC zone, the update to Eve will give us that space.
So, June 4th, not before. |

One could argue though that because this is a partially crowd funded game with the players providing a portion of the revenue, we are the investors (or at least part of the investment group). Going to open beta was in a way CCP looking for more investors/funding, and asking us to be that for them. From that perspective, it makes more sense that people could see the current model of development and communication as an issue. |

You willing to return any SP that you've gained from boosters? Otherwise, that's why, resetting Aurum at this point is like saying "buy boosters now 2 for the price of 1". Anyone who's spent money on anything that isn't a booster, or BPOs, is an idiot. |

Whelp I dont think that making demands is the greatest idea. I also dont think that being a kiss a$$ all the time is really helping either. There are things that we do want and should get. I suppose finding the proper avenue to get those things is really the question in hand. Yes CCP we want some results. Yes we understand you're working very hard. I think the happy medium here would just be more information on content release. This cloak and dagger thing you've been playing is fun for you guys but a **** tease for us. |

I disagree. The funds coming from selling AUR are next to nothing compared to the costs of developing the game. It's a bonus for them, sure, and it lets players have access to items they may not usually be able to get, but it's hardly necessary for them at this point.
On the other hand. I agree that CCP could give us more information, but I can understand why they wouldn't. |

CCP expects to turn a profit from the Aurum purchases. If they did not, they never would have started developing the game. It would be business suicide to develop a commodity without a market, or a method to get that capital from your customers.
You don't develop a project for a tiny base and then microtransact your profits. That only works on large scale ventures. So CCP needs a large base paying for Aurum items to make Dust a success.

Well, yes, that much is obvious. But all the features aren't in yet. They aren't advertising online as they do EVE online, with banners on webpages. Or, at least, I haven't seen them.
They had the Aurum out in closed beta. No market analyst would see the game in its current state as being profitable in any way. The playerbase is too small, and when the game comes out of open beta, they'll look to start making DUST self-sufficient. |
