Prepare for a some serious crying here. Trolls lick your lips.
The squad system sucks, sucks worst that the last system. Now, instead of complaining about a squad that's not full, I'm complaining about being squad leader of nobody.
Occasionally a person or two will join the squad and I think, awesome, an orbital is in the cards. Except these blue dots go 0-6 and possibly manage 100 war points each.
I often get around 2000 war points myself, and to be short changed by terrible blue dots is a kick in the pants. Then I try to be thankful that they even knew enough to join a squad. But only after I begged/ instructed them to join a squad.
I bet I know what some of you are thinking. Join a corp. On to part two: I hate corporations. I've tried two of them, but all corps are the same. Full of politics. And to be honest, I'm antisocial in real life, so I don't know how to climb the corp ladder over a microphone. My problem I guess.
My point is I don't want to join one if I don't have to. Hopefully CCP will offer individual merc contracts in the future.
Most corps are full of great players, but lack any decency when it comes to crushing non corp blue dots. They fiend the red line like they are so thirsty for blood and camp cru's like that is fun or fair. They will pull out two tanks and a drop ship in a random pub match with a victory in the bag, which, I guess isn't terrible, but I still hate them for it.
Funny thing is, if they are not in their corp squad, they don't try during games and sometimes even quit. Catching them alone is ten times different. Suddenly, their invincible magic is greatly reduced. I sometimes wonder if its the same person.
Back to orbitals . . . while I'm praying to get an orbital (sometimes I do, at the tail end of the match when the game is about to expire, so I barely have time to look at my map, let alone get somewhere safe to call one) . . . while I'm doing that some corp gets orbitals early and often. I've seen corp squads get three in a match while I'm can't even eek out one.
I'd understand if I got a lot of grief for this thread. The blue dots that don't join squads probably don't read the forums either.

I can understand your frustration. Find dudes in your local to squad up with that have mics. These guys are usually better than your typical newberry. If you don't like the ideals or way Corporations operate. Make a corp of your own and recruit people that share the same thought as you do, run it how you see fit. Though this may be hard considering your Emo, I mean antisocial and all that ...
You can't really complain about not getting an orbital when you shouldn't even be expecting one if you didn't setup or find a proper squad |

What I don't get is this game is team game, not a lone wolf game. You need a squad and eventually a corp. Like previous poster mentioned make your own corp if you can't get along with others.
Also no two corps are the same, find one that is fun for you and you will be fine.
You can't QQ about a team aspect like Orbitals and at the same time say you don't want to corp up.
My suggestion go chat with some corps; Zion, STB are two fun corps. Give them a shout out. |

Have you considered finding/joining a public chat channel thats not local? More times then not you will find more experienced players then average and most of the time less corp affiliations and less chance they will out and out strong arm a map as often as a corp squad can. |

if you hate the corp politics then just stay out of them. Unless the corp you join requires all members to be jerks to each other then just use it as a place to meet some good players, squad up and queue.
If it really becomes horrible then add the ones you like to your contacts and leave.
Then you'll still have a list of the players you liked without the corp drama (which I'm guessing is being overstated, but whatevs) |

Dude, if you're not in the top 8 of a corp then your screwed for corp battles and it's the high school lunch table drama.
Anyway, I expected this would rub peeps the wrong way, so bring it. Complaining, expression, forums, goes with the territory. |

I often get around 2000 war points myself, and to be short changed by terrible blue dots is a kick in the pants. Then I try to be thankful that they even knew enough to join a squad. But only after I begged/ instructed them to join a squad. Well, you need to go find people to play with. Don't rely on random blue-dots. Find friends, cruise the Local chat, join a corp. But you need to put some effort in here.
Vanda-Kon wrote:I bet I know what some of you are thinking. Join a corp. On to part two: I hate corporations. I've tried two of them, but all corps are the same. Full of politics. My point is I don't want to join one if I don't have to. Hopefully CCP will offer individual merc contracts in the future. You join 2 corps and decide that all are the same. Yeah...it doesn't work that way. Make one yourself or do some actual research before joining. Not all corps are there to just be the best, not all have politics. Some just want to play the game.
You don't have to join corps if you don't want to...but you have to deal with Blue-Dots then, and you are nothing but a Blue-Dot to everyone else. Accept the consequences of your actions. Corps are the focus in the game, not the randoms.
Vanda-Kon wrote:Most corps are full of great players, but lack any decency when it comes to crushing non corp blue dots. So...you're saying people are bad for...trying to win the game? Have you ever played a shooter before Dust, especially MAG?
Vanda-Kon wrote:Funny thing is, if they are not in their corp squad, they don't try during games and sometimes even quit. Catching them alone is ten times different. Suddenly, their invincible magic is greatly reduced. I sometimes wonder if its the same person. First, many people play much, much better when they have support and are playing with those who compliment themselves. Having someone you can trust to watch your back can make a world of difference. And yes, there are also a lot of people who don't try as hard when soloing, because Blue-Dots suck 90% of the time

Vent over. Hmm...because the way to get orbitals is to have your squad get a lot of War Points, it makes sense that squads that work well and earn a lot of WP get more strikes...solo players will NOT get orbitals as often, if at all. Its a squad effort, not a solo effort.
It is mostly your own fault. You choose to solo, so you have to deal with all the crap that comes with it. |

You make a good point, as I'm sure some corps work this way. However not all do. Some will look to include newbros in their corp matches. Particularly the forward thinking ones who see these 8v8 matches as temporary.
So, find a quality corp. |

Feel free to join Deep Space Republic's public channel - no pressure to join - just a regular group of guys who love to squad up and try to enjoy their evening. I have been with them for weeks and have yet to see a single instance of drama or politics, at all. We don't care for popularity contests, so if you're on, you're in - period.
If you decide to try running your own corp, join our alliance channel (e-mail me in game for info if interested) and it will give you access to many players from other smaller corps who are always more than happy to squad up and try to have some fun. |

i've avoided corps as well until we are further along in the beta so i know where you are coming from.
join the public chat channel LFSquad and just post "lfs". if you want to be specific : "lfs with mic @:17" -where @:17 is the current minutes past the hour. that way people know if you just posted or if you posted 5 minutes ago and are already in a game.
LFSquad is a good public channel where you find players like you and me who don't have or want a corp yet as well as players from various corps looking to fill up their squads between games. they'll post stuff like "rf2" or "rf1" showing the number of players they have room for on their squad.
once you get a good squad going, you can have fun for the rest of the play session. if you play well together, you'll get some corp invites or at least the names of the public channels for those corps. then you can keep any eye out for "rf1" posts on the corp channels that you've had good play sessions with. |

DUST University is an example of a corp that is less about the politics and more about playing the game, having fun and trying to become better...sure many of us are just organized blueberries, but we're all making an effort to get our act together and get better. DUST University is a sister corp of EVE University which has been around since 2007...so they're pretty organized (at least as much as you can be with our current mechanics).
We want as much membership participation in corp battles as we can get.
DUST-Uni might not be for you Vanda-Kon, but there are all types of corps out there looking for a variety of play styles. |

The corp of the man who posted several threads about how he intends to AFK farm because playing is pointless sounds like just the place I'd want to be.
But OP honestly just find a corp that fits you. A lot of the corps are a bunch of stupid drama crap, but there are also a lot out there that aren't. Find one that isn't one of the "big names" a lot of those are big names because of stuff like you said.
A lot of smaller corps are always looking for new people and usually the only requirement is that you are willing to work with other players and have a mic. Shattered Ascension and numerous other corps like us are just some knowledgeable players who work together and squad up when people are online. Being in a corp you'll learn a lot more depth about the game just from interacting with other members who are playing it in different ways and you'll have the opportunity to be in squads that actually function together a lot more.
Also the reason you'll see corps drop in a lot of vehicles is because the vehicles are a lot of fun to use and have some really cool modules and such and when you have other people playing with you that you can coordinate with you have a much better chance of keeping that investment alive. |
