First off, it's bad enough just having a female avatar having people follow you around going "OMG your character has [mammary glands] ! i better stare at them as much I can right now, 'cuz no woman would ever let me do that in real-life." If you try and walk away they just hound you down during the entire time you're waiting on the bridge before the match starts. God forbid if I actually speak aloud to a squadmate, who then thinks he's allowed all manner of hate-speech imaginable for the insufferable nature of having a woman on his squad..
I'd rather not have the bridge that have people chase me every single game, then hear such wonderful things when I join a match without people I know. There needs to be a way to report these actions and to prevent them |

I've got to agree with you on some level. The childish babble that comes along with playing an online fps is probably the worst part of the game, with all due respect to the work that has been put into this title of course. |

I could do without the occasional anti-semetic or magically unkittened player name, too.
Having a corp to squad up with will help a lot. I usually prefer to keep quiet in pub matches when I'm grinding SP without a squad. |

Being able to post bounties on them like in eve could help train them to stop it.
I made female merc when option was first added, and was boxed in by players on barge first match with heads moving around gawking, I had mic off at least. So, this is a problem.

I actually got email requests to be 'friends' for no other reason than my avatar was female. That was before the wipe and I have not yet restarted another but some reporting mechanism should be in place.

Ehhh, I'm a guy and I use female character models. It is a bit creepy that people check you out, but unless they're threatening to **** you or other things like that, I don't think there's the devs can do.
As for being hounded by guys, there's really no solution for that. Unless you want a voice changer app.
If you want someone to play with that really doesn't care about the gender but about team-work, send me a message in the game. I don't have a mic but I can hear you. I could use more people in my corporation.

There's a lot of dumbass in the online gaming community. This just illustrates the fact that the internet makes you stupid, and anonymity is the birthplace of morons.
It's comforting to note that people who have the time to note and get angry about having a pair of X chromosomes riding shotgun usually aren't exactly what one would call important to the rest of the world at large.
If I may, once the game goes live use a tank and drive over stupid blueberries who don't understand words like No, and Shuddup, and Ew you're repulsive, and "This is a bar of soap, it's a magical invention. Don't talk to me again until you have mastered it's use."
Friendly fire is going to be your savior in DUST 514. I encourage it's use to discourage stupidity. I also encourage the use of the customer support email to report specific incidents of actual sexual harassment. Because it's in violation of the EULA. And i think people getting slapped for being stupid is hilarious. |

I'd like to just take a moment to remind you that you are not really the person you see on your screen when playing this game. Neither are you really on a warbarge about to attack a planet with immortal clones. You are actually playing a game, which by its very definition tends to attract children or adults with a childlike disposition.
I can assure you that your terrible suffrage at the hands of people who are not actually there with you and cannot actually do anything relevant to you, does not warrant the title of 'harassment'.

I think it was 51% of gamers are women, it was a high percentage. My character is a women, i usually pick female characters because i like girls.
When im playing with a squad we usually follow a blue dot on the war barge and trap them in a spot followed by turning around and shunning them.
I almost NEVER hear someone ralking on team/squad chat. |

Petition system works wonders. Email [email protected] or play with friends in squad and never hear those people again. Recording them also is a good way to document the harassment, but you'll always have it in games like this. You have no idea how COD and BF3 are... |

+1 but that is why I have been playing solo with out a mic squad, to avoid those idiots. It is hard enough having people hover around you in heavy suits and such while you are reading the line up in the waiting room; I don't need to hear them go through puberty at the same time. I get enough of that being on ps home. |

I'm literally LOL-in at "51% of gamers are women"...yeah, if you count crap like Farmville it is...as far as real games, I'd say <20%, and most are RPG/Puzzle/primarily-SP-games gamers (and I'll fully admit I love my RPGs)
The reality is, no matter what MP game I play with mics, I get harassed when I have a female toon (which is just about every game that allows it). Games without mics guys, for one reason or another, don't harass as much; probably because there's a greater chance of the toon really being a guy...
I play a LOT of MP games, shooters especially, and am average to above average in skill. The harassment I get when I do well is unbelievable..."OMG, girls can't game!" "there's no way a girl is playing like this!" and then there's the real harassment (which I won't repeat). Just speaking on the mic gets all sorts of bad comments. So, I rarely have my mic on when I'm not playing with my friends (I can't say corp/clan mates 100%...I belong to a large clan and I don't trust new members enough to not say anything or to take orders from me. I know better) But when with a friend, will talk, because the guys that harass will listen to another guy (and if they're a clanmate, they learn quick to keep quiet. This applies to all forms of harassment to clanmates, BTW, but female harassment tend to be more common, as they think its ok)
And yes, if you haven't figured it out by now, I am really a woman. |

The reason you see less of it is one, a lot of us tend to play male characters to get away from that harassment. Since there is a lot of men you can't keep their mind out of the gutter, we play as men characters and act like it. we are automatically treated as equals. Its kinda sad, but that is how things tend to flow in the game world. I mean its not like we get the same pleasure out of staring at man's ass in a mmo like a man does playing a female character. |
