Thank you to whoever told me that Sensitivity is inverted, so that 0% is actually faster than 100%, which is what I'm used to from every other Shooter, both FPS and TPS. Much appreciation to the many people who held their nuts and actually gave me constructive criticism rather than indulge themselves in hipocrisy, letting me know what a huge noob I am and how they're always nonchalant about everything. Thanks.
I'll be taking my sweet time to level up what I can, but seriously, 2k-ish SP is what I usually get in an Ambush match. Not sure about the Domination-type mode, becaus we always lose, but that's my average SP-gain. anything higher is just me on a lucky roll.
Also, is there a way to not use the default spawn point that places me infront of an enemy's crosshairs, killing me before I have a chance to turn around?
Also, is it me or is Melee utterly useless? And how do you use the Nova Knife? I charged the damn thing, hit him with it and even though I started to just melee him, he managed to turn around and shoot me dead.
Also, my 6 shooter and 3-mag Sniper Rifle are not 7 and 5 respectively. What happened?
PS: Btw, will the game cost anything when it officialy releases? |

C) 25% of the game is done.
As for the skill points thing, the goal is for you to still be playing years from now, this very same game even if it moves platforms, even if it changes expansion titles.
As for you white man cant jump issues, its probably because you're in a heavy suit, they're not known for jumping. Shove some biotics on a scout and see the world of a difference. Finally twinkershooting with a plasma rifle is really more for the tactical variant. Takes a while to get used to but you can down people out in the open with these things pretty quickly. |

sprinting and jumping both use up stamina, when you have no stamina you can't sprint or jump, it's specifically designed to stop people pogoing around like numpties.
if you have an issue with the UI post in the feedback/suggestions area.
put SP into AR and you should soon find that your bullets go more in the direction you want them to, AR skills decrease bullet spread and AR kick, making you more accurate.
SP gain is much lower now than it used to be, still in an ongoing balancing phase, stick with it.
hope this helps. |

First off welcome to DUST.
Second quit your QQ. Take some time to go through marketplace and learn stuff. This NOT A FPS. Its a FPSMMO with RPG elements.
This isnt just another vanilla shooter where you jump super high and can bunny hop in a scout suit to your hearts contents. Jump is tied into stamina and it diminishes when you are low on stamina past the stamina requirement for a full jump.
As for hit detetection that is an issue that is a common complaint but the result of QQ on these interwebz.
As for everything else, just get used to it because nobody is going to hold your hand and when you learn to play this game you'll never want to leave.
Enjoy.
Edit- With regards to SP gain go to this post as there is polling ongoing to determine the direction of SP gains

Your ability to jump correlates with your stamina. If you're out (due to a lot of running) you can't jump very high as a result. Wait a bit till your meter fills up again and try again.

Dust 514 is not only a FPS, it's also an MMO, RPG style game. To skill out everything would take about 7 years (rough ballpark quote from the developers). They also intent this game to be developed, like EVE Online for years to come. Not the usual 3-6 months support and then move on to develop another game. This means two things: 1) you get to build out a unique character over time; and 2): you've got plenty of time to do it. |

progression is intentionally bottlenecked, if you can build skillpoints to easily, they defeat the purpose of having skillpoints.
stamina exists, and destroys your ability to jump when it's gone. it's the little bar inside of your shield and armor bars.
if OTHER people are able to nail you from far away, and YOU are unable to hit them, how is that the GAMES problem? that guy killing you seems to be able to do it? is your aim assist off?

Sensitivity: am pretty sure the lower the number the more sensitive the controls. That is if you whacked it up to 10 and not 1 etc. I left my numbers as standard but changed the dead zone box found under the move controller (it works for the dualshock too).
Though thee control sensitivity/ gameplay need a lot of work still.

Your jump takes stamina......alot of stamina in fact you can only jump 2 times before you stamina is basically depleted. If you are running and using your stamina and then you jump you probably only have enough stamina for 1 jump depending on how long you were running. This is probably the reason you feel you cant jump is that you arent jumping when stamina is full. When its full jump feels similar to Halo jump and actually makes you travel a good distance pretty quickly but it does ALOT of stamina.
The ARs have recoil and hipfiring the AR does require bursting in the "medium" ranges to be effective. Also once you level up your AR more then it becomes more stable allowing for slightly longer bursts and higher lvl ARs have better accuracy. The person who shoots you from far away if they have an AR its probably because they used ADS and might have even upgraded their sharpshooter skill which increases range on weaponry.
You get SP for A) Time in game and B) collecting warpoints. If you are playing Ambush you arent going to see many SP per game unless you get alot of WP. If you play skirmish you would see on average 5-6K SP before WPs are even calculated. That is because you get 5 sp per second in game at this time. (SP system will be tweaked soon but that is where it stands currently) Also you cap on SP everyday once you hit 27500 SP. This game is actually more about collecting ISK then collecting SP...both are important but isk is just that much more meaningful in this game.
This game is sophisticated. Expect the true learning curve of this game to be on the order of weeks not hours....or even days. |

That just shows how you lack any kind seriousness in this topic. You're just bashing the game because you can't get to do what you want it to do, instead of understanding how it works and doing what you can with the mechanics in place.
The case with stamina is telling of this. It's an intelligent system to solve what happens in some other shooters. Honestly, i don't even know how some people still insist on bringing up bunny hopping as a real problem in Dust 514 because if you do it, you'll be out of stamina real fast and can't effectively jump or run for a prolonged period of time until you recover stamina.
And you failing to THINK about this and to understand about how you have a stamina bar is how it shows that this game needs you to THINK about what you're doing, i.e. don't try to jump with your stamina bar depleted. Your inability to THINK about this element and to just laugh it off makes you look silly.
You just proved that this is a thinking man's shooter yourself. |

the best way to learn in dust is to figure it out for yourself thats what most of us had to do before ccp went soft and added the tutorial
best and first thing you should do is go through all the menus and figure everything out for yourself before launching into battle and then when in battle take some time in the back to figure out the controls and adjust your sensitivity and other things to your liking. |

Do yourself, as should all the noobs, a favor and go through the tutorial. Over the last couple of days I have been grinding on the noobs and it seems a couple of things DID NOT happened upon you (i.e., the noobs) entering New Eden.
1) You DID NOT do the tutorial. Shame on you, go out and read the directions. It helps out tons.
2) You have not taken into consideration the fact that there a a few of us on here (e.g., approx 5-6,000) that may seem god-like due to the fact that we, as closed beta testers, have had any where from a month up to 6/7 months to learn and understand the mechanics of this game. The learning curve is a bit steep, which SHOULD ENCOURAGE you people to TURN-ON your mic's and use TEAM CHAT (i.e, in match), while turning OFF the "PUSH TO TALK" option! This gives you a place to ask questions and begin to learn the mechanics of how all this is supposed to work.
3) The only dumb question is the one that isn't asked, so get on coms and ask people questions and quit being antisocial. Since the farming has begun, I have YET to see any number of you FNG's turn your F'ing mics on. Turning it on MAY help in communicating with your fellow Dusters in the field. So squad up and find a REAL corp, not and NPC one. Just a suggestion, and refer back to #2.
4) Get on the forums, specifically the training room. In there, there is a ton of great info and help for those that may be confused. This will also help inform you as to how the skills you are changing with your SP ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING (WOW, go figure, right?!?!?).
This game, if I would describe it in the context of other games that you might be familiar with, is like a strange amalgamation of Halo in theme (in time frame, sort of), BF3 (for the purpose of objective based combat and a great reliance to COMMUNICATION [i.e., turn on your mics, please refer back to #2]) and maybe a bit of COD (with some of the frantic Ambush maps).
This is not your grandmother's FPS. This is FPS, New Eden style. Your are going to get owned. A lot. There are those of us that have twice, if not more, SP than you being coupled with ton's more experience in doing fittings, specialization in weapons, and also have found what works for us. NOT TO MENTION; It is a BETA.
Well look forward to seeing you out there. Good Luck!
PS: You are also a NOOB scout. You have to be sneaky, not a lot of HP for survival. Take a moment and learn the roles of each "type" of character and see what it is their purpose is supposed to be.

Anyway.....you can't bunny hop in dust like other shooters as you deplete your stamina. And the sp gain will change...the one we have now sucks and the devs know it. We voted for the best system and they will implement. But do realize this is an fpsmmo so tere will be an sp cap. But the new system will be tolerable. |
