Tanks -are- over-powered in this build. It's just that simple. AV Nerf probably didn't help anything but in the last build at least things were somewhat balanced, there's no reason a Militia Tank should be able to be dropped (for free, after the base price has been paid) constantly, and than be an automatic victory for the team.
I personally advocated that tanks were -not- over-powered in the last build because they weren't, but this build things have just spiraled out of control. I suppose this is the definition of irony.
To drive the point home - with militia tanks being free and for the moment very difficult to kill (forge gun taking a few -magazines- instead of a few -shots-) a single player can drop a well fitted tank upwards of three or four times and allow his entire team to use them.
To this end, multiple tanks can sit and watch the objectives, effectively preventing any access to it by superior firepower with little threat in the way of AV from anything besides another tank - which is unlikely as that amount of firepower early on can wreck the HAV before it even enters the field.
-:- Break -:-
I am an experienced Surya driver. Some of you may know my name from the last build - and some of you may hate me for it. But when I say that Tanks are currently Over-powered, it's probably true. Defend it as you may with your stories about how you soloed a tank with a forge gun but let's face it, with the amount of ammunition it took you're probably not going to perform that same feat without hitting up a nano-hive or a supply depot, and even then tanks usually stick together so they'd have already caught onto you from the first round you fired.
CCP, it doesn't need to be looked into. The system was fine how it was in the last build and now it's been castrated. I don't honestly disagree, now that I have been enlightened to just how bad it can get, to not having Militia tanks. Honestly - these are weapons that should be paid for time and time again, not a one time purchase that racks in kills and turns tides simply because you put all of your skill-points into Large Hybrid Turrets.
Something is very wrong here and perhaps before coming up with a "hotfix" you should ask your community as to whether or not it's a good idea than blind assumption. This mentality is the exact same thing that led up to the Jita Riots - and it should not require a Jita Riot in order to make something wor |

Militia HAV's are not free in the current build.
Edit: They are not free after the base if you want to survive longer. AV nades can tear up militia modules fairly easily. I only ever tried to make militia modules work a few times before going to basic modules on my militia Soma. |

LOL the point is to abuse the tanks. how else would you get them balanced and in-line with a fps style game.
simple troll-economics
if yea want tanks to be stronger, then you get the largest and best team working group to go mass AV and waste tanks till people cry about all the sp and cost of there tanks die to easy.
if yea want tanks to be weaker then you get peeps to roll in tanks with proper support so that it seems if there tank is invincible.

The tanks I come across are beastly. I bought the basic tank and it get blown up fairly quickly, of course that's what you get for 200k ISK and no mods... The thing that irks me is when there are three beast tanks modded up the wahoo on a non objectI've mode. I've been on Borge sides I the tank fire and it's not fun. Two tanks per team at one time might(MIGHT) not be so bad, but some of the turrets are just nasty. |

I pretty much run straight up Assault. Up until the last couple days, I have not really been killed by too many tanks. But I think that two weeks out from the update, folks are finally reaching that level where they can field some well equipped weapons platforms and pretty much control the map if there are not equally skilled tank drivers on the other team.
The current situation should not be a shock for anyone. We basically had a two week reprieve due to the fact that tank leveling this round was a particularly difficult grind. During that time former AV players realized that early AV weapons were not as powerful. That realization, combined with the reality that there were not as many tanks to kill in these early days, might of prompted many folks to skill in other areas.
Now that some pretty powerful tanks are on the scene once more, I think there is a lack of quality AV ground troops to deal with them. The upper-level AV weapons are powerful...maybe not as powerful as previous builds but still effective in the hands of players who know how to use them. So until the AV numbers level off, tank drivers will be King S**t of Turd Mountain for a while.
My buddy runs tanks and I see a few other consistent players racking up 20+/0 KDR's each game. But tanks are not invincible (and they are expensive). That being said I think there is still room for some balance tweaking in the weeks to come. But at this point, I hope we start to see smaller swings of the pendulum as the devs at CCP find the right mix.
I trust they will before the full game is released. |

Tanks can be killed, but by a single guy it is tough. It is especially tougher when the said tank can be out of your line of sight but is still raining down area of effect damage or some **** around a corner... and the only way you can hurt him is to head on face the tank and propbably get blapped after the first or second shot... The best luck I have had with killing them is to get the av nades, hope to hell I can manage to stay alive behind my wall, drop nano hive and just keep ducking in and out.. most of the time getting the tank to half shield then being blasted by the railgun, but sometimes succesful destruction after I have managed to throw 6-8 av nades on it. Why can they hide behind areas in mountains that we can not get a direct line of sight on yet they can blap everything from all over the map is what I dont get, tanks that get all up in the mix and close dont bother me as much as the ones who hide and reap the benifits of wtf blast radius behind and over stuff damage.
OH and hurry the hell up with friendly fire, bet they wont sit there shooting all over the place when they are dropping thier own guys left and right from just trying to bomb everything. |

AAHHH !!! so thats what I am doing wrong!! so the deal is if I go into AV grenade range my HAV is toast. YEP! that what results I get.
So to survive I need to turn into an expensive 300 ton sniper/railgun??
So they did a trial?? AV balance with AV grenades doing less damage.....hmmmm. I am whats the point of a hav if its so vulnerable to AV grenades??

Good point here. If friendly fire is introduced, it will have significant impact on several in-game dynamics...tanks included. I would welcome this but I am sure lots and lots of others will be severely disappointed.
Is there any proof that friendly fire is going to be implemented in future builds? |

damage control does not have a resist stack penalty, and the 1st reist will be 25%, 2nd around 19%, 3rd around 14%?
so thats like 58% resist? pluss the damage control. the 3rd resist is NOT pointless |
