Against my better judgement I decided to transcribe this nights session. Please don't go attacking me, the irc or devs or these will stop either from dev end or my end. I present this information for the sake of those who cannot log into IRC or spend the time to stay up the same hours as I do. I am also gathering questions to ask for next time one pops in so feel free to leave em. Remember keep em short and simple IRC cant handel entire paragraphs, if your question is better answered ina forum post make the new thread then point it here. Also one of these here came from twitter.
CCP nothin dropped in to say hi and give us updates. Unlike previous session with CCP Wolfman, CCP nothin is more of a backgrond person so some questions are answered very differently and some questions where better off waiting for ccp wolfman or CCP Command Wang instead.
As stated previously before and due to the very informal nature of the IRC channel all things here are summarized and are not direct quotes. Do not hold the developer accountable for anything not being true everything stated is subject to change and everything here is possible magic crystal ball fuel if anything skin me first.
Previous postings can be found here look here first before posting your question I may have missed your due to the last one being burned up a bit.

This session was about 3 minutes long.
Battleservers crashing ALOT 'Memory Leak, we are trying to plug them but its been difficult but we're on it.'

Normalized suit HP vs Modules vs Skills 'We're talking about reducing direct damage bonsues provided by skills on weapons now that suits are lower hp this will hopefully make modules more prevaltant, however this is only being discussed atm.'
Infantry Mobility on maps. 'Things are changing alot here with both maps and infantry it will be difficult to give a clear answer now.'
ISK and SP Rewards 'More refinements being made, such as taking into account time on the field, and awarding despite disconnects expect this next build."

Preview Market items 'Being implimented should make it in next build, possibly, waiting finalization and polish'

2 hours later CCP nothin returns 'We took a hammer to the us battle severs, they are better behaved now.'
Late Day update CCP Nullboar showed up and gave a quick update
Corp battles causing crashes? 'No it was a myraid of other things causing them we're working on it'
CCP Nullboar then left.

I love this info. I'll have to start formulating questions for you guys. Wait, I do have one...
- In the future, will skills like 'Gallente dropsuits' give bonuses when you use a galente dropsuit like it would in eve?
- Are there plans to show us racial varients to weapons/dropsuits. (IE Minmatar Forge Gun, Amarr Forge gun, etc... and of course minmatar scouts)
- Will there be a character history screen and will it allow us to show our characters as starting in Aug of 2012 or before?
- Will we be able to test new game modes before release?
- Will Caldari continue to dominate start screens like they do in Eve?

k, kinda confused what he means on reducing direct damage bonuses on weapons? weapons gettin lower dmg?
also good to see hes looking into the feedback thread i made on the hotfix. i for one support the suit nerf as it doesnt give such a huge advantage like before but still a decent advantage so newbies can still compete cuz like i said even with the current prices once EVE players can transfer ISK to DUST mercs then those 140K-225K ISK proto suits are chump change and ppl will be able to fund them indefinitely permanently givng the rich a huge advantage rather than a reasonable one
Once prices are lowered on the gear should be all good so its more about player skill than gear |

I am not a dev, but some of these questions have been answered by devs in the past and I would like to address them from the information in my notes

I think he's talking about the Weaponry skill and similar, that gives a 3% damage bonus to handheld weapons. |

Why not just remove damage bonuses from in-game skills like I/we suggested here. There are 23 pages of good options/opinions, for both sides, there.
Still no gameplay improvements discussed. Less emphasis on stats is the right thing to do but even if bonuses from skills gets removed like I wanted it won't save Dust 514 for disappointing as a FPS. |

No mate ccp should do like every other developer and inform all on the forum as well as the IRC , it's getting beyond a joke now that the very forums they set up for all this feed back and information they are chooseing to ignore, and other players are having to take time to post it here for them.
I'm sorry but they are busy is a very poor excuse also is having to clear what they can say amongst others, just give some one the power to do it .
Never been in a beta (and I've been in a few ) where the developer chooses not to inform it's testers on the forum first and other means second.
Getting to the stage now why I don't even bother posting and wasteing my busy time.

I'd also like to know if there'll be any "battlechat" ala MAG or Battlefield.
Stuff like "They got me pinned down over here!" in BF3. In MAG you would hear soldiers in need of reviving calling out...etc. It was also very , very clear on the HUD who needed healing, what needed repairing and what had been captured.
I feel it adds to the atmosphere. Right now, Dust feels so lifeless and empty.
While I'm here, I'd love if someone could ask if we'll be getting a better ADS view. Really dislike the way looks currently.
The more I think about it, the more I realize MAG was WAY ahead of it's time. |

Is someone at CCP atleast agreeing with my opinion in ur old topic? that it should play more MMORPG style and the skills r important to the growth of the game over time and not a play for a few hours than move onto new call of duty etc.
i really stand firm on the opinion the skills make this game and so will the connection as soon as we see how they react
god players will always be god players. Skill bonuses will help out not as skilled players if they play over time they will see huge improvement in games |

You can have all the skills, stats and perks in the Universe but if the satisfaction of getting a kill is not present this game will die within a few months.
Like it or hate it, Call of Duty is a massively popular franchise for a reason. The gun play and "kill satisfaction" aspects are absolutely nailed to the wall. Yes, it's filled to the brim with lots of garbage like killstreaks and annoying perks but you cannot deny the gun mechanics are top dog.
I truly hope CCP are listening/working on this because I want Dust to be my go to game. |

ADS? aim down sights? i dont agree with it atleast short range like u have to do in popular shooters but long range/long medium i have to do it with my AR atleast since i have crappy reduce recoil effect. Last build i maxed it so i feel sooo bad at shooting i also hate the scope with a passion but they should have people with different opinions hopefully |

Nah, the killstreaks don't make it. If it didn't have a gun mechanics it has you can bet your bottom dollar the servers would be empty.

yeah the game is well made in my opinion so is battlefield but they each have niche gaming but sometimes its a toss up on what game was better |

minor mechanic fixes they really dont want to copy traits ive played/rented alot of FPS games and they try their best to turn into a mainstream game and they have no one online cause people would rather play the best of ign and such its a double-edged sword

CCP nothing is not the game play sort of person to be asking. hes more of the technical guy the one you ask why its breaking. |

1 been answered previously.
2 has well but we're not sure about weapons chances are weapons are going to remain racial to thier parent races but every race will come up with thier similar solution for example we're guessing the antimaterial rifle is going ot be minmatar.
3. This warrents asking.
4. This is likely self answering yes. A better question would be what new game modes can we expect?

Lasers where bugged they where supposed to been this build but the bugs prevented deployment. Possibly next build. |

This is being discussed still remember. ALso CCP nothins time was in and out before we knew it so we didnt get to those. also most of us knew that ccp nothin is not the guy to be asking about random bullet spread, hit detection (which was answered previously) and balncing. |

Further more there is a slight hold over from the eve online side of things.
Skills should always effect something or why even bother training them? For example why traing demoloition over skill level 1?
If you overnerf weapon skills why bother training them beyond lvl 1? newer models are not going to improve anything othr than slight weapon damage which with todays normalized suits makes them not worth the isk that much. Either way its refinement in progress. Its being worked on and right now its cylendrical, Nerf one thing observe, make more adjustments and repeat and rinse.
Its not like CoD Online *cough I mean PS2's system here perks are leveled up. We're not that rpgified here you dont see 'knife lunge +2' here though that may be nice. |

uhm we dont have that camera scope anymore and the zooming is alot closer to shoulder beraing the weapon up. previous builds you could actually feel the guns point of veiw being shifted from your helmet to your gun camera.

Im not having a go at you Iron Wolf and what you are doing is much aprieciated , but for ccp to say they are busy is not a valid reason not to use there own forum to pass on and get the required information.
Also many smaller or independant developers move mountains to interact with there testers whilst doing the same as ccp with less staff. For this game to succeed they have to interact with us not just a few and the forum should be there fist place of contact then other ways second.

This fall under hit detection issues which they said we will have to see how the new system works when it goes live next build. they're braging about it quite often... so who knows. |

Thats okay just I wished they forum posted too, whole reason why I went into irc in the first place, it was like in irc they said this they said that. well now that Im there I felt it should be information not kept then lost in irc, its not like anyone can log into irc and see what they said yesterday.
After hanging out in IRC for a while and seeing the level of interaction the place is extremly informal source of infomration its highly possible for one dev to say one thing and anther dev to say 180* different from befor.
What I am doing is almost no better than what some STAR or ISD voulnteers do but they had training, where I have absolutly no training in this sort of work. |

Perhaps that is what is needed. A sort of ISD grouping. Not that STAR would be a bad thing either. Or even a rookie chat. Though that would need to be watched.

Does CCP have idea on how Dust/EVE corp members will share the same Crops yet? Coming from a very security conscious Nullsec alliance, we require API keys before we accept anyone in for example, Will CCP be giving Dust players API keys? Will Dust players in an EVE corp have access to EVE items in corp hangers at stations etc? Will EVE players have access to Dust Equipment in Corp hangers etc? |

Well the talk was to 'reduce' the damage not get rid of it entirely so instead of 3% so to say nerfing it down to 2% or even 1%

Ok, to be more specific.
The sounds are too weak. None of the weapons sound meaty or dangerous. Are they going to work on the sound design or are these aspects already set in stone?
Why do all assault rifles have the same skin/scope? Will there be variations and weapon customization?
The ADS view is hideous...are they planning to change the way it looks to a more traditional FPS look instead of the "my camera just changed" view that it is at the moment.
Are they planning to implement changes to how the weapons feel? None of them come close to competitors games at present. |

You're very right, those are the top priorities for us as well right now.
Regarding the list of questions, here's some answers:

Any chances of tweaking them to be more reliable and predictable or better understood? We believe that a lot of the issues stem from hit detection. We have made what we hope is a large improvement to this and would like to test that first before making any further accuracy tweaks.

Sound design? Alot of weapons sound off or weaksauce? Where's the beef? Any changes comming? IE Rocket turrets sound like a plasma cannon, ARs are tinker tappers and dont sound like plasma frying Audio work is ongoing. WeGÇÖve been doing a lot of GÇ£invisibleGÇ¥ work on the backend audio systems and are now continuing to work on the audio itself. You can check out new sounds for the AR and see what you think.
Some guns seem to lack oumph in usage or feedback, alot of them certainly dont feel like weapons only dropsuits can handle. A pass has been done on weapon animation polish in 1P as well as locomotion to give the player a greater sense of weight. WeGÇÖll await feedback on them.
Its possible to kill people outside the smg recitle hipfire box mind taking a look into it? the recitle box should match the smg spread at max range. This is the issue I mentioned above. The system needs some love, weGÇÖll be investigating how much work is required and trying to get it scheduled.
For Wolfman> Key and button re-mapping? How much more customization are you going to persue? Keyboard users want total freedom, controller users want better degree of seperation between control modes such as sensitivy between vehicles and infantry? Wolfman: I would like to hear some requests for alternate layouts to get a good idea of what people are interested in. WeGÇÖre discussing potential updates to sensitivity settings.
Score Boards ephasis based on points and contribution comming soon? Yes, that is now in. You'll get it with the next patch.
Lasers next build? Yes, unless we get any last minute crippling bugs with them.
Artillery? When? If? How? SOONTM
Functional Bed and neocom option to log out the character/quit game? I would like to add this feature but there are a lot of other important fixes to make as well. WeGÇÖll have to see if we have time to sneak it in.
Heat kill maps? being added? how will they work for the generated maps? Secret work may or may not be ongoing on heat maps.
What do you guys think about an aurum item increasing salvage quality/quantity? Nothin: Having salvage quality/quantity influencing items is something that the salvage system was designed to do. In other words, I'd love to see a 'salvager' role in the future. Whether that would be something available for ISK, AUR or both hasn't been determined yet.
Changing Recitiles/Scopes any possible chances very soon or we're going have to wait a while

Here is my question for future sessions:
In order to avoid connection issues I've began joining squads with a Euro squad leader and having them drag me into the Euro battle servers. On US server 90% of my matches either fail on initializing, randomly boot me to MQ etc etc, but 100% of matches on Euro server have worked perfectly despite me being in the states. Why? |

Dunno about everyone else but my default M/KB settings have a quick switch function i scroll my wheel up or down to change from Main to side arm weapon.

There's a memory leak issue on the battle servers that we just discovered a few days ago. Once the memory on the server is capped, battles will start failing to initialize. People are on it, though, and we're hoping to get it resolved quite soon. In the meantime though, feel free to send an email to [email protected] if you see this happen. The GMs should be able to escalate the problem and get someone in operations to reboot the servers.
To why it's happening more on the US servers compared the EU ones, my guess would be that the load on the US servers is higher and hence the problem appears more often. Don't take my word for it though :) |

Edit almost forgot cant you add an ingame bug report function so when some thing happens or we get stuck we can report it right away because half the time (probably due to old age) I forget where I was or how it happened even if it's just a drop down menu with tick boxes ? |

I have even tried to build a modified controller so I can do this in hardware. * I really want to swap those buttons! * The one layout that has them swapped also completely changes all the other stuff too and I don't want those changes.

I have several times as have others in the Requests/Feedback area with absolutely no acknowledgement that they were read by Wolfman. So, I was confused as to whether we should reply here or start yet another thread specifically for Wolfman. I will start it if no one else has; but I would hope that Wolfman at least comments on the threat to let us know he is watching it for the ideas he requested. I just want to be helpful so I hope this is coming across as such.

Also if you could find out about if there is going to be a increase in sp a dropship pilot makes because currently they fall behind on the extreme ends of almost half the sp a good run and gunner will gain. |

Did some forum digging around and found a few questions worth asking.
1. The camera feels a bit floaty with a gun attached to it sometimes is there any changes in camera animation to address this?
2. Sensors seem to work too well making ambushes more difficult when there are a large number of 'eyes' on the field. Also the sensors seem inable of hearing only seeing.
3. Sniper operators in IRC argued over this for two hours and concluded for at least now that Sniper Rifle sway and recovery should be increased drastically to encourage training to lvl 5. This will award skillful players for making the first shot count while not so skillful can make up for it. Also that damage be scaled down a bit now that suit hp is a bit more normalized. They also belived that charged variant is albit of powerful and are wondering if you'd consier giving them assault forge gun function where they cannot contain thier charge.
4. What are the current plans for turret families? Many feel missile launchers are too superior in every role while railguns have the edge over blasters still? A good thought out suggestion addressing overall issue can be found here
5. After another long discussion about tank warfare, one idea that emerged was infantry trenches? Your thoughts?
6. Is mass being adjusted for suits and vehicles? Some of them feel alot lighter than they need to be and have no regards to velocity at times.
7. The aim shake during aiming down sights seems very punishing is there any thoughts about having the shake while ads return to pre shake spot? Also the amount of shake being considerate of class of suit? Heavies being the hardest to wave off while scouuts light tapping would screw up thier sniping?
8. The issue of the ever presistent ghost/dud grenades? Annoying as it is any insight to what could be causing the grenades to break? they dont like the idea of slamming into walls.
9. Are the new pilot and Command suit going to use new models? or are they going be copy and paste (*shivers)
10. Has there been any consideration of Subscription packages with various price points? Packages could include items such as 30 day UVT for all packages while higher ones will have active and passive sp boosters?
11. Is thre any additional plans for new vehicle 'types' (HAV/LAV/DS) before launch? Some are wondering about the Fighter. |

Point 5 , if they do go ahead they would have to make it so players just couldn't park a tank or 2 on top of them thus trapping players,or on a slope so they can fire into said trench.
But it could be intresting add a bit more of a tactical approach, worth a try a try I suppose.

not that I am aware of they busy getting the hot fix out atm which includes a tank nerf I been told. |

2 questions to ask:
1: Would CCP consider dropping mobile CRU's from vehicles and compensate them with a slot and PG/CPU resources it would use for that module?
- this would give more fitting choices today, as well as open up future CRU options similar to the Drop Uplinks.
2: Why combat dropships aka "Gunships" are not in the game?
- given the flight dynamics would be the same as dropships today, and they have a historic relevance in military air support.
