Seriously every time I ask a self proclaimed 'fpser' of what exactly is wrong with the game they only leave a single one line reply.
Kitten this game! It Sucks.
This people is not constructive in any possible given measure.
Measure is being able to gague it give it value and place it against something that has value.
Gun handeling sucks.
This is an improvment though its still very hard to give this value other than it can be vs the myrad other: Dropship handeling sucks AV sucks Tank sucks maps sucks menus sucks RPG side sucks. Community sucks
So overall its not that usefull but at least it has a bit more value than last time if the list where to be taken in order.
The Breach AR sucks!
Much more value over the predecessor but still nearly as worthless so what I am about to show you is what works but when stacked with the previous list its hard to outdisguish it further.
The breach AR damage was brought so low that the potential dps and acutal dps per clip is very signifincatly lower than the other variants forcing favoring of the Assault vanillia over the other variants as the game divulged into a who can send most bullets down range
The tactical ARs grip makes combined with the bad hit detection makes it extremly difficult to use and the higher fedielity and range is barely noticable as other ARs are usuall in counter attack range as well combined with ADS with most mid-range weapons feels severly punished with the new bullet jerk as anytime you get hit you are pernamently thorwn off target thus hip fire weapons are heavily favored in this build.
This here is gold. It specifies issues, problems and begins to fit the problem in the envrionment we're in. This allows for the developers to ask us back questions about how to bring it back to line, also to remind other players that these are issues that DO exist.
I would kill thosands of noobs to the kind of feedback in bold but you FPSers are tighter nut to crack open on these issues. What are you guys? fire once and give up? no wonder you never win any battles.
The sad fact is I can get more feedback from a developer on where the game is heading in the once every possibly 2 week QnA seessions than I can get out of an 'FPSer' in the same amount of time.
I can't share your feelings if you dont remind me of them, and with the constanct crashes on everyone's minds right now its much more difficult to get back to testing and tweaking handeling.
But fine by me, if you dont want to be heard dont speak, nobody can listen to that right?
Also to help set the mood http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/20120625 enjoy
Post Post Thanks for some of the feedback on the resentment to share ideas and complaints, the getting drowned out is a major issue indeed and I have to agree with as STB loves to flood the main page with thier proaganda and the feedback thread is oftenly full of new ideas over current issues. There are attemempts to make collection threads such as the player generated bug list here https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=33334&find=unread
and list of minor annoyances here https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=30130
Feel free to contribute and hopefully do some in community building process as well instead of this usueless kittening all day long. |

I view it as a direct result of releasing the beta to PS+ members while heavy crashing was still going on heavily. They never got to feel the connection to the beta the E3 build gave; quick game lobbies allowed for bad games to be forgotten quicker, low crash rate didn't give the frustration that this build exudes and they never got to play with gear that actually felt like it was in some form of working order.
All that to a new player who is trying to get into a game causes rage quits and flame threads faster then the bubonic plague could spread. |

My main complaint about the game is that the weakest link of this MMOFPS is actually the FPS part. The guns, how the guns control, fire, the hit detection. It needs serious work.
I'm used to how BF3 handled it and for me, that's perfect. The FPS part of DUST is far from perfect.
Becuase of this I spend most of my time either playing medic, flying or gunning. I'm a big fan of the drop ships, and that's where I usually have a lot of fun. Until they fix the FPS aspect though, I won't be having that much fun on the ground. |

Also I doubt a lot of those PS+ people have ever really beta tested....and I mean actually beta tested as in had a major hand in working on a game before. Beta test for most companies is something along the lines of giving out codes to gain final interest 2 weeks or so before it goes live. |

Honestly, and this is NOT a troll.... There is so much wrong I can't be bothered posting in 30 or 40 different issue threads. At the moment with all the bugs it's so frustrating to even try to play I can only do an hour or so at a time. Most fps players never really bother with forums unless it's to troll some other troll. I will wait to see if things change but sadly I fear not. |

There is a group of us that love this game and want it to succeed but honestly I have seen some misteps taken by CCP and giving the BETA to PS+ members is on top of that list.
I know they need more people to stress test but I cant even bring up Dust without sighs and moans. Not to mention I cant pay people who watch me play(but dont play dust) this build to play my character, hoping they will get into it; its always a stern No with a polite excuse and another game gets turned on.
Thats the Fact of Dust right now; any new player trying this build is immediately turned off to Dust and I don't want that to be. |

I put a lot of it down to anything negative posted even in a constructed manner and you either get it's beta, gfo, or go play cod.
Plus even ccp themselves don't seem to let us in every week on what they plan or how we feel the game is going with issues or our concerns not only on irc but on these very forums or am I missing something?
Also and I know it's a console game but why is there no in game ticket report or feed back option, they could add this and use drop down menu's and a comment box . |

[email protected] for bug reporting. the only other place to submit bugs is eve online client there is also the feedback and technical issues threads.
CCP is understandably VERY busy, its hard to get thier attention as to when the hamsters are starving. Think the logest response time was 30 minutes.
Also forum postings are sometimes treated like a dev blog they have to be peer reviewed by fellow employees before they say something that will be regretted later which is the ultimate reason why they probably dont forum post seriously as we'd like to see them post.
As for the hostility ingore it if you can. Mostly this is generated by poorly put together arguments and further hampering your ideas or thoughts could be that nobody else is experincing your issues.
For example I once (and still do) compalin about aim assist and got the same kind of hostility you did. However i preservered and well still have the issues. However I have come to conclude that nobody else as my issues as I do. Apperantly I am the only guy in the entire game that has auto aim on people I already killed.
Many others and myself am willing to work with you guys though to see if its a real issue or something that can be blamed on the current lag/hit detection. There is also thats for sure as many other IRCers would if you would just spell things out instead of providing example 1 2 or 3. We need much more of example 4s around. |

I do ignore it but I'm a old hand at beta but this is the very thing that puts most people off after they post, also this is the first beta ive done where there is no in game support which is where ccp would get the most relevent feed back to bugs issues as they can be reported as they happen, as most people treat beta as early access and not alot use the forum so this would increase feed back.
I also know that you are trying to help out with your posts which I do read but these simple steps would solve this and make testing better for all concerned.
And I hate to repeat myself but there are quite a few who don't or wont use the forum for these very reasons, and ccp need to put some one on the forum with the power to post and keep us informed but I can see your point. |

I've just told you. The only way I could add to that is to say the bullets or whatever is fired from my assault rifle seem to travel very slowly as I have to lead my targets by a stupidly large amount to hit them at 10 metres. That's another thing I would call an issue.
But in general the shooting mechanics are just poor and it's very hard to get that across in writing. All I can tell you is that the shooting mechanics in BF3 are leaps and bounds ahead because they are smoother. Of course, the hit detection, frame rate drops and rubber banding are also major issues.
Also, i've never tried it but i've seen an option for aim assist. They either need to scrap that completely or have separate aim assist and free aim servers like Max Payne 3 and Grand Theft Auto 4. |

Understandable, however the producers of BF3 have had over a decade or more of fine tuning how they do things and making FPS. Also none of the BF games are an MMO. They're lobbies with servers that you choose to fight in. Not a persistant universe. The first time CCP showed Dust was at Fanfest 2009. In an early alpha stage. As for the aim assist and having seperate servers. It's a persistant universe. Not a lobby with servers to hop in out of as you feel like. When you're in a system you're in a system. Even on a planet no matter what district you're going to show up in that systems local channel. Meaning anyone can talk. Even EvE players that will be in that system. Also, the game can get quite detailed or has a major chance of it. As in this......

@iron this forum is full of reasons why this game fails at FPS. And as people say we all get told to go back to (insert game) when mentioning something.
personally the big things for me are (assault class):
weapons should not become more powerful with Sp. remove the Sp +3% to weapons adn in proficiencies. let everyone have the same weapon at their allowed level. ( the increase in SP gain increases damage is just one of many crutches for bad players).
cut people's drop suits by 15%. I am in type 2 assault as are others and we are now all starting to do that stupid dance in a circle change to weapon 2 to finish someone off.
I know this is an RPG but the infantry FPS has to work and the two above changes wont change skiling for different classes wont be affected. The game was fun when everyone was in militia gear. And we will all end up blob/ zerging as squads - whcih is just crap gameplay
2x SP gain for vehicles. Infantry lose out. is this vehicle warfare or an FPS?: if SP for shields, electronics, mechanics, repair etc. can be used for tanks/ vehicles and dropsuits then assault needs to be given sp for AV. At the moment the vehicle class are getting a free ride with SP gain. They can use their SP for their toon and their vehicle. This lack of foresight from CCP says to me that they dont have a first hand feel for FPSs. Nor did they seem to understand the lack of AV counters for tanks
turn sensitivity is too slow. I cant make it higher because aim down the sights is so bad that if i slightly touch the stick I go miles off target. Controls are not smooth. Controls seem to be an after thought.
I wont go on. But minor changes like the above may bring back some element of fun into the game where skill can still beat SP. It is about balancing the games RPG SP > skill element better. (please dont mention null etc. I know about it)
overall: I like the potential and vision of the game. problem is it mainly is potential. |

I think if someone wants to play a game just involving straight hop in and shoot with no strings attached then this is not the game for them. There will be niche gamers that will hop into this and that will enjoy the way it's setup and those will be the ones who stay along with the ones who wanted something different. I don't see the average CoD, BF, or Counterstrike player sticking with it and that's fine. The game was not meant for them, CCP does niche very well. Let the other game companies compete against each other for the common denominator gamers. It's why CCP hasn't got EvE setup like WoW even though there are shouts and yells on the EvE forums from people that started playing to do that. I see no reason why CCP should bow to the masses just because they think either game should be like the one they jumped over from. If they want that sort of game then I think they should stick with them or find one that does suit them. It's been proven time and time again that changing a game in order to suit people that come in later always causes a downfall. No starting player base that really cares about a game and how it goes will stick around when new players show up and and complain that the game is either too hard or too easy and then the company makes changes based on that thus ruining whatever time or work they've put in playing it will stick around. Those are usually the ones paying out the most. |

Don't get me wrong, you make a lot of good points, but this one needs attention called to it. This is not a traditional FPS. The only thing it has in common with them is what the moniker implies (you shoot from a first person perspective). It's a game with skill progression that affects the damage and accuracy of your weapons, as well as unlocking new ones. It's a game where vehicles are not balanced to be equal to infantry. Eventually there will even be buffs and debuffs in the form of command bonuses and electronic warfare. |

Dust has a few issues that i have noticed
Gunplay all weapons feel weightless they do not recoil much/at all, hit detection is still a major issue and only seems to work well at a medium range that not close enough for strafing to be effective and when you get too far hit detection goes out the window completely making maybe 1 out of 7 bullets hit which could be a accuracy thing but how to you tell if your not shooting accurately if the gun has no feel of recoil knocking the aim off target?, also id have to say that guns but ARs are not filling there role this could be due to one of 2 things first is the hard cap on the range of the weapon is far too short and there appears to be heavy damage fall off, the other cause would be the selection of ARs could be incomplete 2 types we are missing off the top of my head should have far more ability to put damage on target at range they are projectile and rail/guass ARs,
Movement feels too much like a camera floating around with a gun unfortunately 2 games that i can think of that i can think of that made the players feel like actual people and not just a gun strapped to a trolly as i heard someone say once was Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Killzone series iam sorry to say i dont know the technical terms for what it is those games did but they made the game feel much more solid, i think one thing that should be done to improve movement system would be to slow down straffing speed and backward movement so it is about 25 to 30% slower than foward movement this would also help hit detection in most straight up fights.
Game is biased to run and gun or playing for the kill, the war points for killing far exceeds that of any other role in the game if this does not change i have to ask what was the point of putting in logi and scout suits if the only reasonable way for them to be competitive on leader boards, in matches and in general is to go for the kills sure thats what assault class should do but scouts primary role should be recon and providing intelligence on enemy positions which they can do but are not rewarded for it because its done passively i would suggest making spotting enemies a manual thing with maybe a passive module for it also but for spotting the scouts should be given reward for doing so as they are playing a vital role on the battlefield, logis are also far under valued for there primary role of keeping people on the battlefield repping people provides very little point and provides points very inconsistently, the nano hive are give good xp but could be made better to make the logi want to put the thing down rather than as it is now i could or i could shoot that guy and make more isk,xp or what ever. I also think people should get passive xp for deffending objectives rather than running out for kills getting killed and ultimitly losing the objective mabye there should be a bonus to this for heavies because that is there role they are the walking turrets that are there to defend objectives.
Iam sorry if i was a bit vague with some of the feed back but this is one of the first betas ive been in and probably the first real one with exception of mabye the AC ones
Also i hate this idea of go back to (insert popular game here) crap why if i preffer the way battlefield does something would i go back to it if i think that this game has more potential than it if it does it right, like isnt that why most of us are here thats why iam here to try and help ccp make dust all it can be and all some people want to do is make a game for them that will just fill there little niche, why would DUST avoid doing something like COD or like battlefield if it would make it a better game in prossec and possibly make DUST better than battlefield at what it does best? |

Why make a game like BF or COD when they are already experts at it? Would CCP making this like COD or BF really make a difference on who plays it and who doesn't? If the game is just like COD or BF with the basics and rip out the MMO portion of it. The game will get flooded with maybe a small amount of console gamers who stick with it for a month or so and then leave because the makers of COD or BF came out with a new expansion or maps or something. CCP cannot afford to be playing the competition game with those companies. There is just no way. None. They can spend 300mil on a game and have no issues. CCP isn't the kind of company with 300mil to slap down on development. Their only game so far that is actually published is EvE. |

I get what your saying. Though I slightly disagree on the 'traditional FPS' part. The majority of players will be boots on the ground (either due to player base of cost of vehicles etc) and it will have to balance from there. But lets say for argument sake:
if I want to skill as a dropship pilot or a tank pilot I skill for that
If I want to skill assault I skill for that.
both are separate directions people want to play the game.
However, at the moment the SP skilling for pilots or tank players has the same impact on their dropsuits (and vice versa)
if I want to be assault and not a vehicle driver my sp isnt skilling into twice th benefits like vehicle drivers. Therefore SP for vehicle drivers win both ways.
I agree that there will be other buffs and Av introductions but I think it is too easy for vehicles to be skilled into this game. If I go assault I should get the SP x2 somehow too to maintain some form of balance for character creation/ specialisation in the game. |

Iam not saying rip out the MMO part iam saying if something does a FPS aspect of the game better then why is it when someone says that i might work better like this and get told to go back to that game if the suggestion makes the game better in the process because as it stands now DUST is lacking in the FPS side of things why the hell would we limit the game because the aspect is inspired from a game that has a all round good FPS mechanic even if the game lacks depth basicly what iam saying is keep the mmo part but improve the FPS we dont need to limit this game |

CCP is not expert in FPS: what does this mean?
Naughty Dog had zero experience in TPS and delivered Uncharted. Insomniac had zero experience in FPS and delivered Resistance. Sucker Puch was a platform developed and deliver one of the best superhero open world /TPS games ever. (inFamous) David Jaffe never did a hack and slash and then delivered God of War. Hideki Kamiya started as a survival horror director (Resi 2) then delivered DEVIL MAY CRY.

Iron Wolf Saber wrote:[email protected] for bug reporting. the only other place to submit bugs is eve online client there is also the feedback and technical issues threads.
Iron you make a good point Yes CCP is very busy getting Eve set up and ready for the merge when it happens. But they still have time to get to all of our emails as fast as they can. As for a MMOFPS this is a First time that it has been done. Has been tried and I believe with what CCP did with Eve that this will rock as hard as Eve does. As a point I will say this there response time is faster than and other Game I have beta tested in my entire run of MMO beta testing on pc. CCP is doing a good job.. yes there are alot of glitchs that are in the process that need to be fixed. Give them time the Dev Team will get them all worked out we just need time for them to work. They want all of our ideas. yes some will not be put into play on the first dropping of the bomb but you know they may come sooner or later. We just have to work them them not slander a game that is still be called a Work in progress. Iron is right they are trying there ass off |

Well at least you're no where near as vague as other people. I thank you for that. good feedback so far. |

Seems i'm not the only one who feels the FPS part of this MMOFPS is the weakest link. Since they have some sort of partnership with Sony, they should really get some people from Guerrilla Games to sort the FPS part whilst CCP does the MMO.
Killzone has a solid weight to it and the movement, aiming, weapons and what have you feel good. I think this would benefit the game a lot, but it just depends how extensive their partnership is with Sony. |
