Also I doubt a lot of those PS+ people have ever really beta tested....and I mean actually beta tested as in had a major hand in working on a game before. Beta test for most companies is something along the lines of giving out codes to gain final interest 2 weeks or so before it goes live. |

I'm used to how BF3 handled it and for me, that's perfect. The FPS part of DUST is far from perfect.
Becuase of this I spend most of my time either playing medic, flying or gunning. I'm a big fan of the drop ships, and that's where I usually have a lot of fun. Until they fix the FPS aspect though, I won't be having that much fun on the ground. please iterate further as you are only furthering my point. I've just told you. The only way I could add to that is to say the bullets or whatever is fired from my assault rifle seem to travel very slowly as I have to lead my targets by a stupidly large amount to hit them at 10 metres. That's another thing I would call an issue. But in general the shooting mechanics are just poor and it's very hard to get that across in writing. All I can tell you is that the shooting mechanics in BF3 are leaps and bounds ahead because they are smoother. Of course, the hit detection, frame rate drops and rubber banding are also major issues. Also, i've never tried it but i've seen an option for aim assist. They either need to scrap that completely or have separate aim assist and free aim servers like Max Payne 3 and Grand Theft Auto 4.
Understandable, however the producers of BF3 have had over a decade or more of fine tuning how they do things and making FPS. Also none of the BF games are an MMO. They're lobbies with servers that you choose to fight in. Not a persistant universe. The first time CCP showed Dust was at Fanfest 2009. In an early alpha stage. As for the aim assist and having seperate servers. It's a persistant universe. Not a lobby with servers to hop in out of as you feel like. When you're in a system you're in a system. Even on a planet no matter what district you're going to show up in that systems local channel. Meaning anyone can talk. Even EvE players that will be in that system. Also, the game can get quite detailed or has a major chance of it. As in this......

I don't think the MMO part can keep Dust alive. People who want a space MMO go to Eve. Why should people go and play Dust if not for the FPS part?
I think if someone wants to play a game just involving straight hop in and shoot with no strings attached then this is not the game for them. There will be niche gamers that will hop into this and that will enjoy the way it's setup and those will be the ones who stay along with the ones who wanted something different. I don't see the average CoD, BF, or Counterstrike player sticking with it and that's fine. The game was not meant for them, CCP does niche very well. Let the other game companies compete against each other for the common denominator gamers. It's why CCP hasn't got EvE setup like WoW even though there are shouts and yells on the EvE forums from people that started playing to do that. I see no reason why CCP should bow to the masses just because they think either game should be like the one they jumped over from. If they want that sort of game then I think they should stick with them or find one that does suit them. It's been proven time and time again that changing a game in order to suit people that come in later always causes a downfall. No starting player base that really cares about a game and how it goes will stick around when new players show up and and complain that the game is either too hard or too easy and then the company makes changes based on that thus ruining whatever time or work they've put in playing it will stick around. Those are usually the ones paying out the most. |

Also i hate this idea of go back to (insert popular game here) crap why if i preffer the way battlefield does something would i go back to it if i think that this game has more potential than it if it does it right, like isnt that why most of us are here thats why iam here to try and help ccp make dust all it can be and all some people want to do is make a game for them that will just fill there little niche, why would DUST avoid doing something like COD or like battlefield if it would make it a better game in prossec and possibly make DUST better than battlefield at what it does best?
Why make a game like BF or COD when they are already experts at it? Would CCP making this like COD or BF really make a difference on who plays it and who doesn't? If the game is just like COD or BF with the basics and rip out the MMO portion of it. The game will get flooded with maybe a small amount of console gamers who stick with it for a month or so and then leave because the makers of COD or BF came out with a new expansion or maps or something. CCP cannot afford to be playing the competition game with those companies. There is just no way. None. They can spend 300mil on a game and have no issues. CCP isn't the kind of company with 300mil to slap down on development. Their only game so far that is actually published is EvE. |

Lazarus Solo wrote:Seems i'm not the only one who feels the FPS part of this MMOFPS is the weakest link. Since they have some sort of partnership with Sony, they should really get some people from Guerrilla Games to sort the FPS part whilst CCP does the MMO.
Killzone has a solid weight to it and the movement, aiming, weapons and what have you feel good. I think this would benefit the game a lot, but it just depends how extensive their partnership is with Sony.
That I could go with....I haven't played any of the newest since the first one. That one creeped me out with the smart AI. Them taking cover when shot at and then using tactics, calling for reinforcements and using everything in the book to try to kill me messed me up some. Kind of like that robot/android lady the Japanese built. |
