Asked for a project nova discussion channel here on the forums, no reply from devs. Not surprised.
It is a losing battle.
At least they are working on nova period even if it was pushed to the back of the shelf. Project Arena, from what little I understand of it, is a new game, not an iteration or offshoot of another the way Nova is of Dust. If Arena had not had a feedback site, there would be no alternative. Nova on the other hand already has the Dust forums. Since there is no actual game called Dust 514 any longer, why should they spend time and resources making a whole new section? All that would be is windo dressing because the forums already are the Nova channel. When they announced it, they put it in the events section. When they had the demo, they asked for feedback here. When LogicLoop stopped by to say hi and tell us they were working on Nova still, he came here. I would rather they focus on making the actual project into a game than worry about wasting time officially making a Nova site, or section when as a matter of fact, they whole Dust forums are that section already.
lol u missed the point. nvr mind.
your telling me its hard to make a new channel on the dust forums for nova. thats all that was asked of them and they cant even do that for us.

I think the more appropriate question is:
Why do you need a Nova specific channel? Is the title of it that important? What's the point of making it? You've got a Suggestions and Comment section already, its obviously not going to be used for Dust so might as well use it for Nova.
I think you're splitting hairs on this one and getting upset for really no good reason. Besides, as we've discussed, this is likely in conflict with the firm outward stance they've taken with the game which is "We're not going to commit to anything". Making specific sections about it is likely going to send a mixed message.

I think the more appropriate question is "Why are you trying to provide Suggestions and Feedback for a game you've barely seen?". To me, CCP Shanghai obviously have a planned design for Project Nova they are rolling with as they have not provided any info since last April for anyone to respond to. Furthermore, Project Nova could have drastically changed from what we've seen at Fanfest 2016 so why bother with any speculation at all at this point?

I completely agree.
I think it is fair however to leave feedback in the context of Dust, such as "Hey, we really liked this part" or "We actually didnt like this part, please dont do it again." But in terms of meaningful feedback that can be given for a game you know nothing about? It's sparse. So sparse that having a specific section for it doesn't even make sense.

To both of these thoughts, there is something to be said about feeling part of something. Especially at both the end and start of that something. Births are wondrous and emotional; deaths are as emotionally intense. We are here having shared in both ends with DUST and now NOVA (assuming). I would imagine those of us that are still lingering are here either grieving for a loss or optimistically hopeful for this new creation and the future in front of it/us. Most of us are probably falling in between those two extremes with a bit of both on our backs.
It feels good to reminisce and to hope. Feedback, though it may be an empty belief, is still a belief in being part of something. Without real communication, that's all there may be for some. And while it may be a bitter opinion, it's not unreasonable to assume that may be all that there ever is.
Also, as to having a dedicated forum I kinda feel that would be silly in this context. Ideally, that would be a declaration by CCP to say that, "hey! here is a forum of communication---that we will take part in! rejoice!!!" But that's not going to happen. That would go a long way to inspire hope in those of us that are on the verge of giving up, though, if nothing else.
For us, either keep the fantasy alive and well and continue posting bittersweet memories and suggestions until that fantasy exists, or don't and let go and let CCP continue to do as it does. Regardless, it still will or will not happen no matter what we do here. Choose your sides! I'm pretty good with a sword...
Please excuse my rambly wambly post. It's been a while.

Maybe Nova will be a VR game. On one hand that would be quite the experience. On the bad side imagine yourself hacking a terminal when all of a sudden you hear the soind of charging nova knifes. The trauma that would create will leave you with years of therapy. |

Right like their plans always work.
Yeah a dedicated channel for nova would not only boost lost attention but would actually help the game out.
What is wrong with you peepz. ccp is making us a bran new shooter and yet all most of you care about is if its coming out or not. What good is a dust 514 sequel if 70% of dust is no longer in the new game.
We as players need to Rise Up and fight for what we deserve.
If you need an example, we all argue about if nova is coming out Thats trash.
We should be filling ccps head with great and improved ideas for nova instead.
If nova is released with no vehicles, well i blame people like pokey for that saying they dont need our feedback.

I think you misunderstand. I see it like this:
CCP: So we are making something to eat... Community: WHY THE **** ARE THERE NO TOMATOS?! CCP: Well it's a cake so...
You think I may not care what they do, couldn't be further from the truth. However it would be wrong to pass judgement on what should and should not be without context. I want to see the bigger picture first before I start saying "But you should do this...."
Context is important. I know most will likely disagree with me, but I don't feel it appropriate to pass judgement when so little is known.
Is it fine to make suggestions like "Hey, I really liked this about DUST, can we have that in Nova?" But demanding something that may not even make sense in the scope of the new game is just ridiculious.

One can take some facts and reach conclusions, and with those conclusions make predictions, like OP did.
Facts:
Last CCP games: Gunjack, Eve: Valkyrie, Gunjack 2, Sparc. Things they have in common: They are VR games, and are original somehow. Eve, CCP's biggest hit, was also original, revolutionary. Dust 514, maybe it's biggest fail, was original (was it?), but not revolutionary (it was not?). Nova, Dust successor, aims to be a good first person lobby shooter. Nothing original there. Even Legion, that aimed to have more content than Dust, was scrapped. This project has less content.
My conclusion is that CCP favors original projects. The more original the project, the more chances of success it has, the more chances of being greenlit. Nova is the least original you can be. It has low chances of success, ergo, it has low chances of being greenlit.
My prediction is that (it's likely) Nova wont will be greenlit, and if it is, it (is likely it) won't be a success.
I'm no stranger to the "some are in the know while some are not" stuff, but what I said is a logical conclusion reached with the facts I have. If you expect people to not make conclusions/predictions because they don't have all the information, then that defeats the point.
-Me: I wonder what Trump is gonna do next? -Pokey: Wait! Don't draw any conclusions, you don't have all the information. -Me: Well, that's obvious. Only he has all the information, no one else is in his head. I can still methodically make a guess with the info I have, right? -Pokey: (Your turn).

You have your information and thus your conclusions, just as I have my information and my conclusions. Time will tell who is ultimately correct.
(Also side bar, I know you were just making a point but I would ask we try to keep political references out of this stuff. That sort of thing tends to corrupt an otherwise good conversation that is completely unrelated to politics)

So i was browsing over ign's list of all games pc, xbox and ps to be released in 2017. There are literally hundreds. Some bigger ones like destiny 2, battlefront 2, borderlands 3, Red dead redemption 2. These games did not actually give a set date on release like the hundreds of others did.
The point is they still said they are going to be released in 2017 at some point.
So what is up with ccp.
Give a dog a friggin bone.
Its no secret your working on nova logicloop re assured us of that many times.
Your methods make no sense for a success. Just look at how all the other games publish.
Now if they are planning on making an official announcement regarding release time frames, well then nova is probably a 2nd fanfest away.
If thats the case why not just tell the public? The green light is only yellow correct?
That is currently how the public see's you ccp a yellow light. Unsure of yourselves.
I love you all to death, but the choice you have made about nova, seems like a exact repeat of legion. That is the current word on major gaming website about project nova.
I find that very sad and disturbing considering how much i want t see nova succeed.
Do you nt care about your own publicity anymore? Like what is up?

Or are you just looking for excuses to be whiney and pessimistic? Other much much more experienced developers have shown that multiple projects can mess with the quality of even their most important titles. Capcom launched SFV focusing on the hardcore competitors and didn't work enough on things for casual players while also working to revamp the Resident Evil series. Does that have anything to do with how CCP works? Nope, because the people involved aren't the same and maybe the people working for CCP are super efficient. BUT It's CCP, we can count on one hand how many successful games they have produced and we know their history of doing CCP things. So until proven otherwise thinking anymore of them would be being naive and optimistic.
