Dust is gone. We will never see it again. Whether Nova is a thing or not it will not be Dust, ported to another platform, reborn. If/when Nova ever comes out, it will be a pale cut-down version of Dust at best, and likely not to attract my attention for very long.
RIP Nova?

Pokey Dravon wrote:Well and that's part of my point. There very well may a difference that ruins the experience for you. Totally get that, and there are some elements that are super important to me that would make me like the game far less if they were absent. Hell, there are some elements I hope to god they change haha.
Either way, just as my personal philosophy, I'm going to try to play the game with the mental assumption that I never played Dust and try to assess Nova completely on its own. Just trying to avoid making comparisons and focusing more on "Do I like how this game plays?" Rather than "What did they change front Dust and do I like those changes?"
Does that make sense? I guess the basic problem for me isn't that I want Nova, but that I just want Dust back, and I know it's not going to happen... |

Moorian Flav wrote:No matter how good Project Nova is, players will still have to put up with CCP. I still remember the long silences the first quarter of every year during DUST which brought the most frustration I've ever had as a gamer. CCP can cater to gamers continually giving updates and info when and only when they think there is enough players worth doing so. And I think we can all agree that is not a way to launch a new product yet CCP still seems to be following their same old playbook (at least in respect to their FPS titles). There was and still is a fundamental difference between the way CCP addresses the EvE community and the way CCP addresses the Dust/Nova community. With EvE, they're comparatively verbose, always talking about new features, balancing, whatever. With Dust and now Nova, they're comparatively silent.
My take on this is that Dust was always and Nova still is, a product/project that they don't want to talk about, and would largely wish would go away. The fact WE aren't going away may be the major reason CCP still is working on Nova. But they still wish it would go away. |

I feel exactly the same way about MAG. I actually struggled for some time with Dust because I was so attached to MAG but over time I learned to enjoy dust for what it was....Superior in some ways to MAG and inferior in others. I actually don't believe that Nova will be superior to Dust in any way that matters to me. While the FPS aspect was not lost to me, the complexity of the skilling system (still simple compared with EvE) and the clear differences between the suits and gear of the races/factions was what made the big difference for me. If, as it seems, Nova is to focus on the FPS aspect and simplify or even remove everything else, then no, Nova will certainly NOT be superior in any way for me. |

' If you dont mind me asking, what makes you think those things will be absent from Nova? The statements that have been made by various people, that CCP will be focusing on FPS, adding extra complexity later. The fact that CCP does not keep us informed means all sorts of people make up their own minds what will be in Nova and all any of us has to go on in the end is hearsay. Much of that hearsay has been about the "dumbing down" of the skilling system, the use of somewhat vanilla flavour clones at least initially, that sort of thing. They MAY add a lot of complexity longer term, but if they don't have a decent amount of it initially, it will just be another FPS to me. |
