Coders which neither have the same tools, language and legacy code knowledge to work with, will just jump in and fix problems and cut and slash maps in no time. Oh wait... They need to be "good" coders. That's right... Not like the ones in CCP Shanghai. bear90211 wrote: The academy and map polishing would require 2 or 3 coders to switch over, everything else is pretty basic. I mentioned in the topic that it would require coders of higher skill, but with 2 or 3 they can do it in no time.
Comments like this is frankly insulting to anyone which works in IT, not just CCP. (In case you wonder where the blue tags went )
They haven't truly grinded code in this game since 1.6.....
CCP Shanghai when they went to build key features into DUST, for example Faction Warfare... They called in a CCP crew that works company wide... They called themselves "Team True Grit" They are the ones that came in and grinded the code out to make faction warfare..
Not in house employees.
Even the matchmaking system was just a recycled attempt from the 1.4 patch that they just tweaked and allowed to gather statistics more dynamically. It wasn't a newly grinded out feature... Just a recycled tweaked one of a broken system that already failed.
CCP pays at the bottom of the industry.... Meaning nearly any developer studio bar a few small scale indies pay more then CCP... You then have to move then to work further with them... CCP used to attract some of the best and brightest with the mere thought of getting to work with Tranquility.... Now that hardware is aging and vastly becoming outdated and needing a complete overhaul... CCP has lost over 20-30 of their main developers in 2014-2015, The original owners of CCP are gone... The passionate developers who started a board game to fund their aspirations of taking space sims genre to the next level is gone.
It has been bought out by the biggest investment firm in Iceland with Hilmar only owning 5% of the company with no true say, merely installed has a figure head to placate the ignorant and lazy.
If CCP cared about it's legacy, name and reputation like a group of developers would who own and run a company, DUST would of been fixed and been made relevant....
Instead Studios and major projects have been closed... Major EVE features talked about for nearly a decade completely abandoned while they offer no new innovation or ground breaking features for nearly 8 years... Bleeding some of the most talented developers in the industry who built these ground breaking features and joined not for the money but for the passion in EVE and the concept... They have looked behind the curtain and quit...
You may have faith in CCP, however Most of us base our opinions on their actions not their community teams words..... CCP stands for Crowd Control Productions... That should speak pretty loudly how much worth to put into their community teams words.

I don't see you providing any suggestions =ƒÿÆ The OP believes that these fixes are so simple, but they are not. CCP doesn't even have the resources for things like map polishing. Even if they did it would take a long time. CCP has already tried to fix the maps several times. Just saying "fix the hills" is not a revolutionary idea. The reason nobody says it is because it is an obvious solution with very complex problems ti implement. People could easily say "Dust would be better if the Caldari Assault were improved" though that's only taking advantage of seeing the finish line and not taking into account the path to that finish line.
You can't make an excuse for CCP and their maps...
The amount of map not in playable areas in this game makes the map that we actually get to play on look small.... The amount of assets being loaded into a game that have no relevance or use to the actual game other then CCP being to lazy to fix it...
Is crazy....
No Developer for lobby shooters has 60% of the map sitting in unplayable areas, using resources on a last generation console hardware to load and run these while complaining about game performance...
You can't sit here and apologize for CCP and say that it is not their fault.... IT IS COMPLETELY their fault.... They even released new maps never even seen before WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.
The amount of resources wasted in DUST on lazy done stuff is insane... And the amount of people they have convinced to apologize for them and explain how it isn't their fault is even more insane. |

bear90211 wrote:(This is EDITED for more clarification, a bit more ease for your eyes, and to make a little more sense, you will understand if you read this earlier)
So I have been here since Chromosome, and my personal opinion as a Veteran duster, (Although most of you don't care about that, not sure CCP does either) is that TTK should get looked at (It's a little too fast.) there's mindless Newbrows running around in every game mode, Tanks & AV are out of whack, PC is still broken, and all that kind of stuff but this list, will fix quite a lot of stuff. Newbrows, Frame rate, *LAG* Scamming, matchmaking (In a way, not entirely) and maybe vehicles / AV. just read it, and please discuss.
MY solution would be:
1. Academy Reworking - Tiered system. Tier 1 - Simple tutorials of every weapon, using prefit suits (Basic) on an open map (No players) within this tutorial also - grenades. Afterwards they can go into the tier 1 battles. (3.5x SP gain. Ends @ 2.5M SP)
Tier 2 - Simple tutorials of suits, modules, and equipment. also a small explanation of the roles. Skills will also be covered here. Afterwards they can join Tier 2 battles, not Tier 1. (3.0x SP gain. Ends @ 6M SP)
Tier 3 - tutorials of the market, social, corporate, and warbage. if anything else has not been covered, it will be put here. Afterwards, they can play in Tier 3 battles. Immediately after passing this tier, they are given a free non-tradable respec, a moderate ISK injection, and say some other little present, like a skin. they then can transfer ISK, join corporations, and can play the mercenary battles. etc.(2.5x SP gain. Ends @ 12.5M SP)
2. Implement an Auto Cache Clearer for after ever battle.
3. Not Loading sockets outside of both teams redlines (Basically everything outside the playing field)
4. Cut off the map 500M out from the redline on both sides ( The map goes on for around 7K in some directions, all sockets loaded if you get a mini DC and get to roam, I did once.)
5. Try to simplify the amount of polygons, smoothing out the map, and recreating hills to be less steep. (Make the loaded objects only have a solid outer wall, not every individual line. also, try dumbing down the fire/lightning effects from buildings.) with this try to make it look practically as good, neat, but not so many polygons. also take a look at the MCC, try giving that a makeover too. (This WILL take some time, and a few coders, but it IS doable with the DUST budget & profit currently.)
6. *NEW (Addition from old topic) -
A. Work on replacing ALL MLT items andmake STD the beginning Tier, Basically everything STD is considered 'basic' right? Well then make that cost no SP to unlock! for BPOs - Do an automatic upscale from MLT to STD BPO scale, initially removing around 90 items from the marketplace.
B. Separate the market (From fitting suit/vehicle) into 2 different things, 1 - the ISK,LP,DK section, and 2 - the AUR section. this will reduce the amount of things people see on screen, and Vets will have an easier time fitting suits they are working on.
7. (Extra little things.) A. Remove the "Progression" tab, no veteran in their right mind would use this, and with the tutorials this would not be needed anyways. (It also takes up quite a bit of space on your HDD or SSD, creating unnecessary lag/ frame-rate drops)
B. Remove in game rank names - Just adds more letters to the killboard, should be removed OR put under 'Show Info" instead.
C. Trading menu like Defiance, Runescape or... well you get what i'm talking about.
D. Remove the"Get Aurum" from every page in the market, countless times I have been thrown into that 30 second PS Store loading screen under the LP store area, it should be restricted to the front page.
E. Vehicles & AV - Reset the stats of vehicles to those of 1.4 Uprising, give Swarms the same stats as they were in 1.4 but somehow equal out the 6 swarm volley to the 4 swarm volley we have now, with a 200m Range cap, and a base 25 points of damage nerf or more, depending on feedback after this. Add back in the old vehicle modules and over time reintroduce Enforcers, Marauders, Black Ops, and then Officer, respectively it would be this tier system- what we have now (STD) enforcers (ADV) Mauraders (PRO) Black Ops (PRO/EXP) Officer (Unnamed yet) eventually also- create racial vehicle for the Minmatar, and Amarr.
I can add on more things. feel free to reply, and discuss this list. 1. Yes.
2. Okay.
3. No. Certain redlines would be vulnerable to enemy for, with the only safe haven being inside the MCC, and an enemy killing off whoever decides to drop.
4. Yes.
5. No. Everything will take too much time and resources, and once CCP thinks it is complete, there is a big chance of the game breaking.
6.a. Mm, I don't know. Militia allows players to try out weapons without skills. This is pretty necessary for new players, unless you remove skill requirements for STD gear.
6.b. No. Current market is fine.
7.a. No. Fix current progression tab, change the the fits from AUR to isk (and be able to replenish their fits from the tab after the first initial claim. Have the tab start out at the chosen race. Fix UI.
7.b. No one really cares. There is a setting for this. Don't like it? Message the merc to change it or deal with it.
7.c. Yes.
7.d. Yes.
7.e. Worry about this after 1.3 or 1.4. I feel like CCP has something big planned for these two updates and will run out of ideas on how the game will work after them.

And if you look to your left, you'll see an adult human talking out its ass in the wild. Although extremely common, most sightseers have a fond affection for spotting humans in this frequent, if somewhat messy, state.
Most of you are probably well-versed in catching humans talking out their ass, but for those on our safari who aren't human enthusiasts we can discuss this particular situation. Notice that the human is taking a factual observation, the large implied surface area that an analog of a virtual object in a video game would have, and from there is concluding that quantities associated with the virtual object are in direct correlation with quantities associated with the analog. Would one of you like to explain what happened?
Passenger in jeep: (excitedly) It looks like the human has taken experiences associated with an only tangentially related analog of the virtual object, and used properties about that analog to form unrelated conclusions about the virtual object, despite those conclusions having no particular factual basis!
Younger second passenger: Look, it's still going, mom!
Tour guide: (chuckling) Yes, you're right, well isn't that a treat. It looks like the human is concluding that, just because it is easy to describe a different virtual object that is related to the first one, that it would be simple to remodel the existing virtual object to obtain the second one. It's concluding that despite having no background in virtual modelling in general, and in how the current virtual object is modeled in particular. That's just adorable.
Younger passenger again, to mother: Can we get a human as a pet?
Mother: (also chuckling) Oh no, sweetie. Humans aren't good at walking on webs, and they talk out their ass so much that it's hard to clean up after them.

We all want this game to be more than what it is. Sadly I think it's circling the drain. We're playing on a console that's virtually dead and for ccp to sink money into it would be just be a waste. Eventually we will all realize that all things end, even immortal soldiers. |
