So I have been here since chromosome and all this other stuff, my personal opinion as a veteran duster (Even though CCP probably doesn't care) is that ever since Uprising 1.7 dust was on a downward slope on quality, now we have invincible tanks that you need 3 AV guys to take down for around 2 minutes of chasing, shield HAVs have now placement next to an armor tank, TTK is a little fast, noobs keep getting into pubs and FW, its a bunch of bullshit and it needs fixing, first off with the frame-rate smoothness, and the new-berry situation.
MY solution would be:
1. Rework the academy to 2.5M (T1) 6M (T2) 12.5M (T3) and put real tutorials into the game itself, like an intro where you don't actually fight a person but you learn how to use equipment, use specific guns, call in war-barge strikes and vehicle usage, effectively afterwards mindless blues would not be existent besides the ones we already have. I don't mean anything fancy with this tutorial or anything but just a little something for every specific weapon, the variations they can learn on their own. it's not all that much work.
2. REMOVE THE PROGRESSION TAB. ITS TERRIBLE. no veteran in right mind would use it, and the fits cost aurum, its just asking new-berries to leave, remove it entirely (ALSO it causes ALOT of lag)
3. Frame-rate - implement an auto cache clearer for after every match, not hard to do and would fix about 30% of all the lag issues.
4. this might take some time, but try putting less detail into everything, and simplify the squares, the objects don't have to have 50 solid surfaces when it could be 5, put skins onto the buildings instead of actually making individual blocks. also the MCC - dumb it down a bit but keep it looking neat, and maybe fix that MCC turret (4 rail guns & a missile turret jammed together)
5.outside of playable map area loading - please make it so the map won't load the outside sockets far off in the redline, that makes lag too. also just cutting off the map about 700m into the redline is good, I had a mini disconnect once and went 3452m out from A and jumped off the corner of the map, too bad I didn't have a video.
6. remove rank names. people don't need to know you spent money, it just adds more blue or red letters to the killboard in the right corner.
7. Trading focused. Implement the real trading window. here's a really bad one from runescape http://s3.amazonaws.com/readers/2009/03/15/trade_1.gif this would reduce scamming or confusion with trading. also make a 'want to sell' option, and what you put for sale is reserved for the price you set to anyone who wants to buy it that goes over your name in chat, or in market. (Basically the EVE market system.)
8. vehicles - I know you guys are working on them somewhere, but they need to go back to 1.4 Uprising stats. keeps swarms at 4 missiles to a pod and keep their current damage, maybe a 20 point base buff to all tiers at that. switch the blaster to it's original dot sight, increase rail-gun range to 450m (Thale range. FYI sniper rifles cannot fire farther than a tank MT can.) re-implement enforcers, marauders, and black ops (basic, adv, pro, exp in reality tier wise) then officers.
9. annoying market - remove the 'get aurum' from every page but the front page, and make it so it wont be highlighted first thing when you press x, its annoying.
I can add on many more things but just go with it. reply if you want, or add on to it. |

Framerate has plagued this game for way too damn long. It's practically unplayable, mind you my opinion comes from a guy playing a ps4 exclusively since I sold my ps3 and will never fork out money for old tech ever (yes I see the irony since ps4 is technically old pc tech).
Props to this post, I even had the urge to log in to bumpity it :)
it's nice that you did that then, most people who quit dust never come back to it, let alone the forums, everyone wants a blue tag for this, it's easy work for CCP to do, just as easy as it was for them to make the progression tree in the neocom, or the instant battle thing, it requires low level programming, and I know plenty of people who can do it themselves.

All of the major improvements that we will see here on out will be thematic, content-driven features delivered inbetween ceaseless rounds of tweaks and balances. And I mean no disservice to Rattati when I say that; he and his team have essentially saved this game from both itself and, hate to say it, its community.
TL;DR - Laudable Pipe Dreams. Sorry :(
P.S. Except for the "Get Aurum" and Loadouts Tab. They can both die in a fire thanks. The suits in the game aren't really the problem, the idea for power core slots will just free up a few hundred items in the marketplace (Suits) I recommended in multiple threads that they just have to remove the AUR suits and repeated objects, remove ALL militia and make basic level no skill requirements. it is called 'basic' right? the game lags only in game, meaning the stress on the HDD, and even SDD is coming from something inside the playable area, IE: polygon count, nearly endless detailed redline, and the quality in the design of every little thing that most people do not acknowledge. also - it won't cost much. in fact they could do it with the budget they already have. everything in that list is doable without ANY actual programmers besides the graphical polygon fixing, and maybe the map cutting. at that, it would take 2 devs from the EVE team to fix all of the graphics on dust in one month, or less.

Wait wait wait. Sure the progression system has some problems but it definitely has a purpose and a place in the game. The point of it is to guide new players towards a type of suit they are interested in like the progression system in eve. In its current state the progression system does a poor job of this but that doesn't mean it should be scrapped. It should be fixed. The whole progression tree should be visible regardless of a players advancement to allow for planning. Explanations of different fittings goals need to be included (along with flavor text for role players). AUR and ISK variants of suits need to be highlighted with their differences explained. Even the suit selection needs to be changed so that it is easier to move between fits (it is strange right now). None of these problems are insurmountable though or a reason that a potentially instructive element of the game should be removed. The long loading time you experience when opening the progression page is not indicative of lag in the least. I don't know how you could even make that leap. That's like saying, "this web page is loading slowly it must be slowing my computer down even once I've navigated away from it." no what I mean for the progression thing, people don't really need it if they get a proper, simple tutorial in the battle academy, and it takes up space on the SSD or HDD you have on a PS3 just being there. and really, how many newbros actually look at progression? if they use that it is sorta misleading, I checked out the entire thing and honestly I can say its not the buggy part, but its the entire thing itself. it has no place under 'loadouts' either.
