I recognize a lot of the names I see in matches, they aren't noobs. I've said it a million times, these issues aren't from new players getting shell shocked into the redline by 100 mil SP veterans. This is veteran players shying away from shooting at people in an FPS game. |

Don't know, I'm just sick of joining a game and being unable to land a hit because their player model isnt where their hitbox is.

I bitterly dislike these vets. I aint even at 50 mil SP yet, i got put into a battle with these players.
Included a squad of original AE, some Cap Acq and 0.H in the mix as well.

You'll die. I promise you. This is the SAME issue I'm fairly sure has been explained more than once.
Vet like me with 65mil SP. PC hardened. All core skills maxed. 12 useable Proto suits. Proficiency 3 in most light weapons. I know how to wipe enemy links, place my own, kill hostiles in Advanced gear. I like running proto however because i never know when someone else, or the other team may use it. If they smash me off the point, retaking it is hard and costly. This game's NPE is brutal, even if the basics are explained. You are simply dealing with so much info. A newbie doesn't know that an Ar will take out shields faster, or to gauge being shot at by a Rail rifle vs a Scrambler based on purely noise, or that Damage Mods have a stacking penalty, or that a militia scrambler overheats in around 15-20 shots with no skills. We do, so we go up to a point with the intent to win because that is why we wanted to PC, for harder fights and because winnin. I'm sorry but if you are at that point I'm. trying to hack, and you are in the way of me being successful, you die, or I die trying. I knew players who ran proto with only 300k isk in their wallets. We aren't all rich, we just like playing with suits that we have earned after 2 years. That's not me being a D-bag to players and saying, "lolmilitia", that's me playing an FPS and trying to win. I'm sorry if you die in the crossfire as I try to not go isk negative against Nyain San, Negative Feedback, Titans of Phionex, Prima Gallicus etc. There are thousands of players with proto suits and you will never have useful teammates until they can distinguish a Caldari Assault proto from an Amarr Scout with just their eyes 80m out.
It isn't the suit. I've read hundreds of threads of people claomimgythey destroy people in proto suits. So obviously if you can in your militia, advance gear, so can noobs right? Wrong. The fact is you understand somethings in the game that are tsking for granted. When you joined, did you ever try to bloe up the MCC with a turret? Three shot someone with a gun only for them to kill you because you thought the TTK was like Cod? Or the kicker: Wondering what the hell are are these stats and how do they go tpgether and being utterly confused and wondering how to get all the SP you need???
I am sick and tired of people complaining about proto stomping. I'm sorry that people have a suit. Get on comms with a squad and kill them. You have a literal forum of people who will squad. Some players like me with drop you a helpline and fight with all pur gear to help you win. Learning Coalition. Chat channel to aid players. Observe how you died. Was it to a Scrambler? Where was he? Up high? Hmm, don't travel across open ground, it has a 90m range. Flank wide, and use a close range armor weapon if it's an Amarr Assault. Ding ding a Combat Rifle.
Play and counter-play peeps. All I can say.
Tldr: Play smart, people will run what they want. Learn from your deaths. Squad up. Hitting your head against a wall is dumb. 07

No dude I'm bored and missing Dust and angry irl and pissed off that people are still complaining when I do exactly what they dont want. Do you think I went on the forums and complained? Dude I didn't know there were forums till 11 months after I played Dust!!! I was getting slaughtered. I found a vet I saw go positive and use a brightly colored suit. I pressed X on his name, said hello, how did you do that? He promptly invited me to squsd, trolled me, and then kicked me. I mailed him again, asking for just a few tips. He reinvited me, and then taught me some core game basics. Seriously just take that step and try to get help...and I'm sorry if you don't have a mic, or time to squad, or want to go on the forums and do this or that, but honestly what do you want me or other people to do? Not try and win the game? Come on now

Ok - Rarely do I wade into one of these threads, however, I'm a bit confused at some of the comments.
The OP and others are going on about how we are killing the game and "it's our fault". Quick disclaimer here...i primarily play logi and have a B level gun game at best - I'm not implying that i'm a one man proto stomp.
S0...what EXACTLY do you want folks to do? Not aim so well, stop squadding with friends, no voice coms, don't rep people or put down uplinks? What what do you want individual players to that won't lead to folks getting hammered and redlined on occasion?
Ok, so maybe it's the gear. Down grade to Apex sutis - check. Lot of folks do that a fair amount even though they have enough ISK to pretty much never run out no matter what gear they run. They have the skills and ISK from the grinding they've done over months / years of playing and suddenly you want to tell them not to break it out?
My beef is with folks that try to drop in here and make statements about selfish players and how veterans are ruining things without offering any form of constructive discussion. When I hop in to a match and see top shelf players on the other side you damn well bet that i'm trying to bring my A-game and I want them to bring theirs. I want the tough / fun fights and as long as someone is contesting the points you keep fighting as well as you are possibly able.
I've been on the short side of matches (i.e. 5 vs 12) more than a few times and you make the motherf@%Kers pay for trying to stomp you. You'll lose but you make them earn it as best you can....there are a lot of players in Dust that just don't understand that anymore.
There is no game with player progression, particularly a co-op game, where vets don't have serious advantages over newer players that I am aware of. If you have an idea on how to address it then put something on the table that is constructive and don't just whine about your latest redline.

I mean Jay pretty much has it. Are you players to blame for doing what the game allows them to do? If a mechanic is broken and players use that mechanic to their advantage, are they wrong in trying to win?
Stop trying to blame people for taking every advantage they can to win, and instead focus on fixing the problems that allow those situations to happen.

You guys basically surmise my thoughts about online gaming in a less confrontational manner than I normally would.
In terms of video game philosophy I accept that I cannot hold any other player, nor should any other player hold me, responsible for their/my personal enjoyment of a game. Especially a competitive first person shooter with a progression system like Dust.
You cannot expect players to hold themselves back if they can perform better, nor if one specific tactic proves particularly effective expect it not to be used as if some unspoken agreement exists, or as if you yourself could not have taken advantage of the same tactic.

This would be cool.
To be honest I never check what exact suit I'm shooting at, I've played enough to just know what they look like. I've literally never thought, I just killed a proto suit. I really haven't ever cared what level people run, but it would be cool to get a notification. |

the 'keep-what-you-kill' method of awarding ISK isn't so bad, but it shouldn't be the ONLY calculation that goes into ISK payouts.

Just know that when a game gets "destroyed" by its community, it's never the community's fault, but the bad design of the game.
You want to know why people leave battles before they even begun? Because they can tell from the leaderboard that it's gonna be a stomp, that they'll waste their time, ISKs and nerves playing this fight. It's simply not worth it.
As long as ISK rewarding will be this low (or just a thing), people will continue to leave battles for about any reasons.

If you like this game stop killing it, I've never met a more self-centered bunch of freaks than DUST players. Games are so ******* boring these days, the ones with any action are when you're being proto-stomped and the boring games are the ones where everybody has quit!
You know I'm right you're playing 8v8 regularly, or 16v8
this game is dying and it's all your fault. You know what makes people leave battles? Other people leaving battles. Yesterday I played an ambush with Abyss of Universe vs Nyain San. No one left. We won. The match after: enemy side: AMbush Ftw, on my side those who could be considered good players left. What should I do? Keep playing a match that, I know, is lost from the beginning? No, it's a waste of ISK and time. So, I believe that everyone should play like most of japanese players (for example in domiation), at the beginning they take the fastest suit they have and run to the objective. They don't even care aboout who's there on enemy side. CCP should remove the list of players. It should be available only at the end of the match. A lot of people, included me, check who's there on enemy side at the beginning of the match (I always fear for q sync faggots like Academy Inferno, they q sync in dom). If we don't want people to leave, we must do our best every match. Example: if there are few uplinks on the map, YOU, EVERYONE brings uplinks, you can't let blueberries do your job because if they don't your basically screwed. So, if there are few uplinks, you bring them because if you don't, it means you don't care about the match and you only want to kill, then you better go play cod instead. Fat asses that don't want to bring uplinks beacause they aren't in the mood to bring them, better not play this game. Sorry for the bad english. I forgot to say that ACTIVE SCANS ARE NOT AN OPTIONAL. How are you expected to help AN ENTIRE TEAM with your passive scans? Yesterday I played ambush with a corp I don't want to reveal. One of them said: no need to bring scanner, my suit has passive scans. Seriously? I dont give a f%/k about your passive scans, I need active scans, I need to see the damn re dots on the radar... CCP invented these awsume active scanners and gallente logis, then why don't you run a suit with an active scanner???? I was the only one scanning in those matches......

I don't understand why the APEX phenomenon has failed to generate more action. It gives you a better suit that can be tweaked to make great fits for less than 20K. You can die 10 times and still go ISK+.
I can't for the life of me figure out why people would stay in NPC or crap corps and get slaughtered to the point they still play the game but play it from the safety of the redline. What are they waiting for? Is there a date on their calendar that they'll join a corp and get integrated into Dust? Is it a predetermined SP or ISK value they have in mind?

Ho, and I didn't mention lags, framerate drops, bugs and glitches that ruin this game. Do you know why Outer Heaven and Negative Feedback don't have perfect win/loss ratios?
Thor, just the person I wanted to see.
Read this. I want you for that "Officer" Channel if you are still game to do Min FW.

But seriously, KDR matchmaking fixes this.[/quote

No KDR matching won't. Some players are really good at slaying. Some people are good at running away the second anyone tries to kill them. KDR is not representative of player skill because some people have 60 mil sp and only logi.
But...i suppose it's worth a try.

I consider 20k for a suit to be expensive, and grinding 500 FW games isn't overly appealing

What are they waiting for? Is there a date on their calendar that they'll join a corp and get integrated into Dust? Is it a predetermined SP or ISK value they have in mind?
I just don't get it.
Effort, low expectations, social anxiety. Take your pick. Also redline is only tangentially related to that |
