Shameless mimic of Shotty GoBang's Scout Registry before it became The Barbershop. It is requested that this thread remain on topic, concerning Assault suits and their players therein. Application and Statistics are entirely optional but can be tracked either in-game or more easily via www.dust514stats.com. A spreadsheet showing active participants and their statistics can be found here. I will try to keep up with it as often as I can.
Assault Conglomerate
Participation Guidelines
Players meeting the following criteria may register via thread response:
- Have graduated from the Academy.
- Wear an Assault > 50% of time in combat.
- Agree to be honest (dedicated vehicle pilots who happen to wear an Assault Suit do not qualify).
- Agree to announce your departure should you later opt-out of the Assault suit.

There is already an Assault, Commando, and I think even Heavy Registry.
The Barbershop just kind of happened, with the help of 10 months of the class being ignored by CCP despite constant promises otherwise.
I would suggest finding several level headed people good with numbers that are willing to be proactive in gathering opinions and formulating numbers based on them. That will help to get your community going and give you some structure to frame your discussions around.
Good luck, and be prepared to be moved to the Locker Room if CCP gets too quiet for a time and you get off topic for a day or two (which is less likely to happen as active as Rattati is).

Gallente Assault nearly 100% of the time.
I only pull out my Commando when I need to take out vehicles
and I have Scouts, Heavies and Logis but I rarely use those unless I'm bored or experimenting.
CCP holds the Caldari's hand so this doesn't happen again.

Then you would be better off making an in-game channel if you want to form, co-ordinate, and squad up, which I would have no problem with.
It just sounds like registries are a 'look at me I run this suit/weapon!' sort of thing...
You may point at my 'Nova Knifers United' channel, but we use that channel more for squadding and chatting, rather than being all smug that we run Knives.

Proto Gal and Min assault are what I run a majority of games.
Logi is next most prevalent suit, followed by a tie between commando and scout. Heavies for the very rare EZ mode game, but I don't even have one at proto yet...

Problem with an in-game channel is a lot of players already have 4+ channels and more than that will freeze up your client....

That registry was only made because the suit was absolutely terrible, and it was used as stat tracking to show CCP just how bad it was.
There is no reason to make a thread like this, unless you honestly believe that Assaults are UP and want to show some stats to back it up.

i was min assault from when it was gimp and overshadowed by armor fits but i went min logi when skills were reset with plans to get back to min assault eventually. the FOTMS and Whiner's Forum Brigade of course will force a nerf upon min assault i will still run it after that. i recently fell in love with assault CR and flaylock in academy alt. a slow ass logi is terrible covered with it's bright yellow markings so every red can focus fire it first. i just can't justify staying logi as i don't run with enough heavies since my corp folded and are destiny fanbois now. i long for a respec, almost caught up on my bills. when more people were playing what were supposed to be specialist suits as assaults because they were better at assaulting there was a problem.

The reasons for this thread are not in any way the same as the Scout Registry and were never insinuated to be. It's a consolidated area for Assault players to gather, commune, and stat track themselves without having to go in-game. You may disagree with the reasoning or find them unclear but it's sort of a silly thing to argue against. You might ask "Why?" but I ask, "Why not?".
Player stats aren't the best source of evidence to say that something is over powered or under-powered. It's actually just anecdotal evidence, even though it's marginally backed by statistics. Then again, statistics in and of themselves can show a correlation to anything if you try hard enough and that's why I've neglected to mention anything about this being a stat-driven argument for anything being OP or UP.

So I asked my corp how many people have Matari Assaults, and so far 8 people said yes, 1 person said a lot, and then 2 others told me that they don't speak English. Pretty ironic if you ask me.
Also, I'll be running an Assault squad later if anyone's interested.

Sheet has been updated with new arrivals as well as more/additional statistics. From here on, it will be updated on a weekly basis every Thursday, now that it has a standardized format. As such, best overall growth for the week will be awarded an ISK prize.
New stats include changes from the last update to show participants whether they are doing better or worse.
Sgt Kirk took the lead in kills with +178 kills.
Cat Merc took the lead with best KDR growth with a 0.28% increase.
Ripley Riley took the lead with the best Win/Loss Ratio growth with a 1.10% increase.
Sgt Kirk once again took the lead with the highest change in Lifetime Warpoints with a 17,752 point increase.
For best overall growth since the last update, Sgt Kirk received 500,000 ISK.
I'd like to be able to gift $5 a week in Aurum (10,000) to the best overall growth per week, but I have no idea how to do it as PSN doesn't have a function to gift games/digital items on the store to a friend. So, if anyone has any ideas, lemme know. EDIT: Further more, I have no idea if this is consider RMT or not >_>;

In the process of verifying whether weekly growth rewards are considered RMT. So, stay tuned for that.
Making an addendum (Im at work right now so Ill formalize it when I gt home) to the way things work. New Arrivals to the participation will be added at first opportunity, but will only be updated on from their entry date. This means that if we update on Thursdays, and a new participant joins on a Wednesday, he or she will only have their stats tracked from that one day of growth. This way, early participants still have an edge during the week (more days to increase kills and what not) while new arrivals dont have to wait to be added one week, and then another week to be eligible for growth prizes.

I like the idea of this thread. A lot of the reason some people have stuck with Dust as long as they have is the community. And while Assaults may be doing well at the moment, they might not in the future, whether they be FotM or super under performing.
In either case, it is always good to have reasonable discussion regarding either scenario as its always good to be more proactive regarding a role you care about rather than just letting certain unreasonable members of the community, like unreasonable heavies that will say Assaults were fine pre 1.10 etc.

I wouldn't mind but I know a lot of people would cite, "NO AR WAS OP IN CLOSED BETA", lol.
Although, if we're going to appeal for weaknesses (Amarr bonus toward heat gameplay, Caldari bonus toward kick gameplay) then it'd make sense to have a bonus that appeals to Gallente weaknesses. Dispersion is -kinda- a good idea but we already have Sharpshooter, so it's kinda pointless. I wish I could say that bonus made the difference but it doesn't. Shotguns are kinda hit or miss as to whether you as a player like it, it's completely useless for the Plasma Cannon, and the Ion Pistol is still kinda too broken for it to make a difference.
So, I'm down for it. Maybe a falloff range increase to increase the damage outside of the optimal would be a bit more fair than just a straight optimal range bonus, though... Think an optimal range bonus would just have other Assault's migrating to the Gallente as the AR suddenly becomes more powerful than their racial weapon. Just as well, Shotgun proliferation would be instantaneous with an optimal range bonus, me thinks.

I would really rather have this thread not die, so I thought it would be a good idea to post something here.
The assaults are pretty well balanced as of now. I am still dying to scouts with shotguns or remotes a bit too much in my opinion. Heavies decimate assaults in any sort of close engagement. Heavies are supposed to do this, but, as many have pointed out, they are able to do it much too easily and consistently.
Since rifles are more or less the main weapon of assaults, I think I will discuss them a bit. Breach assault rifles are being nerfed in echo, but not enough. They need less damage or a significant recoil increase or something along those lines. I believe the regular scrambler rifle is still too powerful, but maybe thats just me and I dont know how to fix it without ruining the weapon. Tactical assault rifles may be spammed after echo due to the large clip size increase and its hugh rate of fire cap. The clip probably doesnt need to be 30 and the cap should probably be around 500 or 600. I still think the regular rail rifle needs a kick reduction while aiming down sights. Assault rail rifle seems fine and the regular assault rifle should be after echo. I dont know about the burst assault rifle or the assault scrambler rifle. Combat rifles seem pretty good, but inexplicably melt my shields much quicker than they should.
I have heard people saying that the minmatar assault is or will be flavor of the month. I have this assault suit along with the caldari and amarr. I prefer my caldari suit. Im not sure if the minmatar will be ovepowered or not. Perhaps it is just the suit that the flavor of the month community members that ran scouts are flocking to because of its speed.
Everybody knows the caldari and gallente assault suits need different bonuses. The caldari reload bonus is always nice, but it is definitely much worse than the amarr and minmatar bonuses. From what I have heard, the gallente bonus is worthless. The caldari could use a spool time or kick reduction. For gallente, I would probably do some sort of range bonus. The minmatar and amarr bonuses are derived from the shortcomings of their weapons, or at least their rifles. The caldari and gallente should be the same in that regard.
Please let me know what you guys think about all of these thoughts.

Not including Local, Squad, etc. I.E: all the basic channels that you will always have. I seriously doubt you have eight player made channels and are still able to play the game without constant freezing and/or lag.

Few stats I want to throw out there for this week:
Total Kills from The Assault Conglomerate: 8,516
Average Kills: 304
Average KDR Change: -0.01
Average W/L Ratio Change: -0.03
Average WP Increase: 32,195
Did a bit of refining on how MVP for the Week is calculated, removing percentages (because it's a lot more math than honestly necessary) in place of hard decimal values on KDR and W/L Ratio. You guys will notice some changes, particularly in the form of color, indicating certain things:
Blue: Super congrats! You landed MVP this week and are being awarded that $5 Aurum PSN code. You can expect a letter in the in-game mail soon containing your redeemable Aurum code. (This will continue until CCP gets back to me on whether or not this is RMT or they outright ban me without warning).
Green: Generally means good news. Congratulations, you did a really good job and landed highest in the category.
Red: You are underperforming compared to your peers. This may be due to being a new arrival to the Conglomerate stat tracking, or simply because you are not playing the game. Either way, you performed below average.

Here are the normal combinations that I use, plus a couple that I know fellow Gallenteans use.
Stats are general, because I don't have the exact numbers with me right now.
Low slot combinations:
2x ENH plates + 3x CPX reps - point holding repping fit (600ish armour, 30 HP/s. Strongly recommend against using complex plates - you'll barely be able to strafe, and the fitting resources will be obscene)
3x CPX ferroscales + 2x CPX reps - unencumbered rep tank (0% speed penalty, 640 armour, ~21 HP/s)
3x CPX reactives + 2x CPX kincats - speedy fit, decent rep, decent HP (9m/s run speed, 580 armour, 13.5 HP/s)
4x CPX reactives + 1x CPX kincat - tougher version of the speedfit, gets a little more HP and rep but drops down to 8m/s run speed.
High slots are normal 1x CPX precision enhancer + shields mods, sometimes including a damage mod. My preferred method of running a Galassault means that an increased shield buffer is often very useful. Most of these low slot combinations are fitting intensive, so you won't be fitting triple complex shields or damage mods, but a precision enhancer can be useful and doesn't take up PG, so you can often at least get in double ENH shield extenders.

Stats are general, because I don't have the exact numbers with me right now. Low slot combinations: 2x ENH plates + 3x CPX reps - point holding repping fit (600ish armour, 30 HP/s. Strongly recommend against using complex plates - you'll barely be able to strafe, and the fitting resources will be obscene) 3x CPX ferroscales + 2x CPX reps - unencumbered rep tank (0% speed penalty, 640 armour, ~21 HP/s) 3x CPX reactives + 2x CPX kincats - speedy fit, decent rep, decent HP (9m/s run speed, 580 armour, 13.5 HP/s) 4x CPX reactives + 1x CPX kincat - tougher version of the speedfit, gets a little more HP and rep but drops down to 8m/s run speed. High slots are normal 1x CPX precision enhancer + shields mods, sometimes including a damage mod. My preferred method of running a Galassault means that an increased shield buffer is often very useful. Most of these low slot combinations are fitting intensive, so you won't be fitting triple complex shields or damage mods, but a precision enhancer can be useful and doesn't take up PG, so you can often at least get in double ENH shield extenders.

One of the fits I use. Takes a lot of strafing know-how because you're sacrificing a lot of defense what with the added EWAR but it's really pleasant not being scanned 100% of the time. Can switch out the precision enhancers for damage mods if you want but I use them to ensure I'm not about to walk around a corner and stare down a barrel.

Considering John 5mith was running around in an amass last night ScR +melee'ing the fck outta everything, im pretty sure you're doing it ineffectively-different.

Don't get me wrong. ScRs on Amassault are still good, but TacARs are better.
Yes I have been using them. I've already switched all my ScR fits over to them, because they are that good.
They are like using an ScR with Amassault 5, but instead of overheating, it reloads. On any suit.

So basically, you're giving up hip fire accuracy, reload speed (cooldown if you don't overheat is faster than reload IIRC) and range for slightly more DPS and one more shot? (It takes around 24 rounds for an Amarr Assault to overheat, same as TAC AR clip).

That's 1,276 kills a DAY.
Not only that, but if you can pull a 1.32 K/D overall, there is no way in HELL that you would go 0.67 on an alt. Having halfway decent gun-game and knowing how the game works will automatically put you above a 1.0

No, just run Full proto in bush for 12 months across 20 Alts and come back and say that again.
I had said with all my alts together. (1st one got to 23.9 million sp during my first break. Played full proto for a long time with passive sp on the other alt, continue said pattern and it is much easier to believe.)
So you believe the Caldari are all lying scum because one of the first protostompers has a impressive score? (But I think you need to slap yourself if you believe the WLR, it was slightly exaggerated, more like a 3.61 if I had to guess. Raven here is more of a never proto alt. He doesn't have anything to proto because I get distracted by other weapons and go for them.)

The big thing that jumps out at me is how you claim to have 800,000+ kills(which is just lolwortgy by itself), but only about 5,000,000 WP.
What, have you been getting only 6.25 WP per kill? Lol.
If you are skilled enough to get 800000 kills, why does your current character have a 0.67 KDR? Someone that's gotten that many kills surely could get a higher KDR than that in any suit and weapon combo, right?

Opened up another sheet concerning a Mercenary Marketplace. It'll largely be attended to in the same way (weekly updates). Even though PC is still in a (terribly) bad way right now, the key difference here is if you want to be part of the PC game but don't want to join in all the PC politics you can throw your name on the list and I'll update it accordingly. This way if a PC entity needs some help johnny-on-the-spot, they can find the right guy they're looking for and get a hold of them.
It's entirely experimental, probably won't work out nearly as well as I'd like, but here it is:

On first impression, Heimdallr69 looks to be in the lead for the MVP for 12/25 (this coming Thursday) again with an astounding 1,197 kills since last Thursday. Within the Assault Conglomerate, he's gone from Rank 6 to Rank 4 in kills in just four days.
On the other hand, Heimdallr69's KDR has dropped 0.05 points suggesting that he's taking more chances in order to get those kills!

Total Kills from The Assault Conglomerate: 20,837 (12,321 more than last week!)

You guys will notice that Average KDR and W/L Ratio changes have been removed. This is because the numbers are so marginal that they're not worth tracking anymore but also because we've implemented a new Point System that tracks positive, negative, and no changes on both of those categories. This new (EXPERIMENTAL) point system (explained in the Previous Winners sheet) also explains how the MVP is determined.
Heimdallr69 came -VERY CLOSE- to scoring the next MVP due to having the highest kills (almost -THREE THOUSAND-) and warpoint accrual but his negative KDR is what killed his chances.
As a reminder, the weekly MVP around here is determined by best overall growth, not just kills and warpoints. As such, it came down to a tie between Tweaksz, Songs of Seraphim, and Jesus Chrysler with 12 points each for positive growth in all four categories.
However, there can only be one winner in this weekly contest and that wound up being Tweaksz due to having highest growth in two categories: KDR and W/L Ratio as opposed to Jesus Chrysler and Songs of Seraphim who each had highest in one category.
Tweaksz can look forward to a $5 Aurum code in his in-game mail.
Again, this point system is entirely experimental and I would love to hear your feedback on it if you feel that it is unfair or should be changed in any way. Feel free to post suggestions!

Update 12/27/2014
Learned how to Excel by accident while I was at work learning C++ stuff. As a result, will now be doing all spreadsheet updates in Excel because I found out how to set up functions and formulas to automatically math for me so I can put away the calculator. This means I update more reliably, more frequently, and provide more information such as charts/graphs of each individual player's statistical changes and such. That will be on a per request basis however as it does take some finagling.
So, what does this all mean? Well, it means it's a lot easier for me because now I can see a boat load more information and more quickly input new data from the game. The bad news is that it doesn't translate very well to Google Docs and as such a lot of the color fields will be missing (initially) so it'll just look like a wall of numbers for you guys. This will be fixed on the next update.
One more thing I've done is I've now included a shared link to the spreadsheet itself so that users can sort things at their leisure in their own instance without affecting the spreadsheet itself. You guys should find this to be much more user friendly as you're trying to find your individual stats, stats of others, etc.
punksnowmash and Mexxx Dust-Slayer have been added now that Sony finally recovered the local region from The Lizard Squad "trying to show people the meaning of Christmas but really just want to sound cool using scripts" attack.
Finally, in an effort to help better communicate among the Assault community, I've created a quick pie-chart of everyone's preferred Racial Assault suit. Given the data presented, I'm also including this week's topic questions (even though it's a few days late) to be directed to everyone running Caldari Assault:

I run cal once in a while.. Probably over half my kills in it.
I do not dual tank it or use DMG mods with it, it's a very good suit for being solo and not pushing objectives
Mexx is one of the best cal assaults I know
71 recharge 1.6 delay, good for solo and not pushing objectives. With the rise in min ass spam I can see the cal ass being viable for a while.
I feel like my d1ck is bigger when I wear gal
I'm also on Xbox one if any of you have questions or want to squad you could probably hmu there.

Wielding the Caldari Assault a ton more now. I used to have it to proto before the respec of 1.8. Now I wreck face with just a STD (OP. 1).
Practice with the CalScout has made me a lot better at flanking and the duck-and-cover.
RR is good at crowd control, but not so great at 1 v 1's against fast moving targets. I switch to the TacAR for a viable anti-shield replacement.
Please buff my Magsex. It doesn't hit hard enough...

Could be because Gal Assault was very lame until armor buff, so everyone already had Cal Assaults.
But since FOTM never favored Assaults in Uprising (It was either Logis, Sentinels or scouts), nobody bothered to skill into a different Assault suit once the buff happened.

You'd have to use the leaderboard to input Dust514Stats anyway. It was one of the reasons I campaigned so hard for third party API Support during the CPM campaign is so that you could just plug in your API key and let everything just be automated.
All I can say is talk to CCP or your elected CPM. Clearly they know what the community wants/needs.
EDIT: Pro-tip, your elected CPM doesn't view it as a high priority, from what I've been told.

CPM0 was -decent-. They had a lot of really good feedback to give at times. I'm pretty sure if it weren't for CPM0, players could shoot while cloaked.

Right. Lot of people go into shields thinking they can ADS and go stand-offish with other players instead of using their strafe speed to their advantage. Shield is all about mobility, but not in the sense that you -have- to use biotics (although it can definitely help for disengagements). One thing I could never understand is how people could both complain that Shields were underpowered compared to Armor but then at the same time constantly complain that Caldari Scouts were OP. I did some investigation into the "hit box is broken" allegation but there is nothing to support it.
I dunno. I watch some shield users that I fight against and at first I always give them the same overview: "****, they're using shields, my Combat Rifle won't be as effective" and then I watch their movements. Start to kind of laugh whenever I see them trying to ADS a firefight at <30m. Let alone the fact that a lot of them can't strafe to save their lives.

This is very accurate I love my regen Cal Assault but I use a min assault far more often and while I do have a few base HP fits and the majority of my fits are below 350 armor even when I use plates I find myself having to stack more hp to compete with armor tanked min assaults and gal/amarr assaults.

Was a little late with this one but it being the new years.. #Fireworks.
So, the new spreadsheet mechanics have paid off and it only took me 40 minutes to go through everyone's stats and determine a winner. Color coding has been slightly changed as you'll notice that:
Highest - Dark Green
Above Average - Green
No Change (KDR/WLR) - Grey
Below Average - Red
No Change (Kills/WP) - Dark Red
This is to help determine winners via points and to help encourage players who are doing their best by not having as many red marks on their record. I feel that by changing the color code, we can actively encourage players on the lower tier to rise up even further whenever they see that their color code isn't as bad as players who had absolutely no participation throughout the week. However, this game being a competitive one, sometimes it's better to be inactive than to shoot yourself in the foot go bottom of the marks in all categories.
On to the important bits. This week we had an -amazing- turn out.
Total Kills: 27,276 (9,993 more than last week!)
Average Kills: 588 (121 more than last week!)
Average WPs: 52,424 (12,695 more than last week!)
At first, the winner looked like it was going to be neausea 1987 with highest kills and highest WP for the week. But as stated before with previous winners, we don't determine an MVP by killing the most... We determined a winner by the best growth. His chances were offset by having no difference in his KDR and a negative W/L Ratio by 0.04.
The winner came down to a tie between Mexxx Dust-Slayer and Jesus Chrysler, but Mexxx Dust-Slayer pulled through with higher growth in -ALL FOUR CATEGORIES-, even despite being a new addition this week. That being said, this week's MVP is Mexxx Dust-Slayer, who can expect a $5 Aurum code in his in-game mail soon!

I run my Calassault at 53hp/s 2s delay and 8.3m/s with 800 (596-194) ehp.
I do well with it and I do realize it has its pros running it, but the problem comes to assault vs assault which feels just too much unbalanced: I can't just spray n pray as the reddot can do, I have to put effort on it along with using nades in the best way I could. Note though this doesn't include gal assaults, I kill them far easier than how I kill a minmatar or amarr assault.
btw I've yet to get put in the conglomerate, is there something that doesn't allow me to join?

I'm almost positive my gal assault has met an untimely end by your cal assault.
Shields, not so worrisome. Coupled with good speed and someone who knows what their doing? Terrifying.

Scouts can provide to the team with intel and hacks as well
Commandos make great suppression and AV suits,
Sentinels are room sweepers and point defense on top of killing.

Assaults just kill. Thats it. No real secondary role. Unlike the other suits, their primary role is clone elimination. Thats all theyre truly good at.

Killing isn't a role, it's what the entire game modes are based around outside of objective control. Sentinel's being "room sweepers and point defense" is exactly that: killing, killing, killing. Scouts are -sort- of intelish but we all know that they're using their low profile for assassination and what not instead of providing anything useful to their team. Sure, there's probably a few guys who put nothing but precision enhancers and range amplifiers on their scouts, but the great majority of them don't.

All 4 Proto Assaults, with each respective racial rifle at Proficiency 5, and the Combat Rifle and Assault Rifle completely maxed out. They are my 4 main fittings. Out of my lifetime kills, ~80% are from Assault suits, the majority coming from the Caldari and Amarr. I assault more than I fly these days too. Its great to see them in a good place.

Clone efficiency is an important thing, matches can be won or lost by clones, and they often do in PC.

Anybody notice an issue with the grenade bonus applying weirdly I'm going to play around with it more later tonight but I put just a core locus grenade and nothing else on a suit. The suit said 4 PG had been used but while I was making a different suit that had every slot filled except the grenade when I put the grenade on it increased from 75 used PG to 80 an increase of 5. So does putting the nade on first or last have any effect on how much PG it takes up?

Don't think so. I had a -massively- long thread about why CPU/PG aren't in decimals and they round off. Coding only allows for integers because if they were going to go with decimals it'd cost twice the memory. The only way they could have changed that was by changing everything to a float system which would cost the same amount of memory but it would have been a hell of a lot of man hours to accomplish as it's mostly an optimization.
I'll take a look at it when I get home from work and do some spreadsheet magic, see if I can figure out what's going on.

Mostly because it's just being used as a free handout than anything of actual value as there aren't any discussions being made, no momentum on the Fitting Trello, and there is little to no cohesion amongst the players. Activity in general has been on the decrease and even I started playing on Heavy alt(s) because it's just more ****ing fun than trying to make Assault work.
It was an experiment that tried to bring unity among Assault players so that we could actually communicate with one another outside of needing a corporation. That experiment failed.
To answer someone's question from earlier: No, I will not be finishing these previous two weeks. This little community is dead in the water and I've no interest in spending more money on people who barely participate, let alone communicate.
Sniper range nerf did nothing but make it harder to counter-snipe redliners. That and open up for really stupid feedback

Leadership is a finicky thing, especially when it comes to extremely competitive games like Dust 514. Democracy doesn't really work (it can but it's unlikely) and you really have to find a group of people that will follow you anywhere.
