After much debate and after having been knifing on a gimped Pseudo-Min GalScout for half a year, I've finally manned up and put my SP into the Minmatar Scout. However, I really don't know how to fit the darned thing. My current setup is as follows:
Scout mk.0
Complex Shields x2 Enhanced Shields Complex KinCat Complex Profile Damp Complex Reactive
Ishukone NKs BrScP Flux Nades
ARN-18 Cloak Remote Explosives
Do I have too much unnecessary HP? Is that reactive even worth putting on? Should I go for stealth and add another Profile Damp and maybe a Proto Cloak? Do I need damage mods? Any help is much appreciated and sorry in advance as I know many of you are already tired of these type of threads. |

I think using a CR and NK's works best. If you're going for stealth though, and you die every single time you get caught, then you don't need the HP. I just speed tank it.

Mine is either a Ar/knife with twin precisions/extender twin damp/range, with basic cloak/remotes.
Edit: damn incomplete sentences, or a Tac sniper/ion pistol, double extender damage mod double damp basic reactive, cloak/nano

Everything else is up to personal preference. I don't know about codebreakers. I'm not really a Skirmish guy, and level 5 Systems Hacking already covers what I need to do in Dom and Ambush OMS.
As for DMG mods... are they really necessary even with Proficiency 5 in both NKs and ScPs? I'll have to test them out when I get home later, but won't I already do enough damage to take out most non Heavy suits even without them? One more thing, should I keep the REs? I have never been a fan of using them. |

You need at least 2 Complex Damps and a proto cloak to beat Amarr max precision, so I would at least make a fitting for this in case you run into them. Your fit would be good for many situations until you find someone with precision, in which case you can switch to your max dampened suit.
Shields look good.
I might even recommend making a fit without a cloak and trying that out. I am finding the range nerf to the cloak to be more trouble than it is worth.
I find that with Ishukones on a Minja that damage mods don't really do a whole lot. Learn the Raptor Jump and that will do the trick for most heavies even.

Don't fit plates...my minmitar scout fit:
Scout mk.0
3 Complex shield extenders
2 Complex profile dampeners 1 Enhanced Kinetic Catalyzer
1 Ishokune cloak field
1 C-7 Flux grenade 1 Ishokune nova knives 1 Boundless combat rifle
Because of the kinetic catalyzer i don't need the armor plate. If i want to run i can run for my life, but if i want to CQC somebody i better do it quick otherwise i am toast with little HP. The 2 complex dampeners if someone is running scans in pubs else just a codebreaker or plate depending on the situation

I'm only at lvl 3 atm, so a cloak is not viable. Except for on my 'Neo' suits, and those can only fit at basic while still being somewhat gimped.
CR and Knives is good.
I find no practical use of high slots other than shields. DMG mods for OHK that proto sentinel with an Ishukone, but only if all dmg skills have been trained up.
The low slots are what makes all suits interesting. You could fit a cardiac reg and run forever between objectives and continuing chases, or kincats and outrun all pursuers (doesn't mean they won't outgun you). 3 dampeners hide you from all except maximum skilled Gallogi (unlikely variable). Hack mods, when skilled up and combined with Minja bonus, can attain a minimum of 3 second hax. You could literally hack an Obj. under enemy noses. All leave you vulnerable hP wise, however.
Reactive plates offer reduced benefit under most Minja builds. Ferroscales won't slow you down, but are lolworthy when you could have been beefing up a good combination of low-slot mods like above.
Your shield is all your hP. Learn to evade and distract when it goes down halfway.
Give the Magsex some love.

I've been an occasional Minja since 1.0. Not very experienced, so take my advice lightly.
I only have it to level 3, but here's my fit after lots of tweaks:
Scout M/1 Series -BK-42 ACR -Ishukone NK -C-7 Flux Grenade -X-3 Quantum Nanohive
Lows: -Complex Dampener (Dodge PRO scanners) -Complex Range Amplifier (Necessary for planning approach)
Highs: Complex Precision Enhancer (Scan any undampened Scout, also puts a chevorn over enemy cloakers) -x2 Complex Shield Extenders (With no cloak, I need to be able to take a few hits)
This fit works well for staying aware of everyone and dispatching heavies. I personally never liked the cloak, and with the scan range nerf I no longer find it worth using. And as Minjas have always been, plan your approaches very carefully. Never engage, only jump someone if it's a guaranteed kill.
Also, not sure what your passive skills are at. Aside from the specific weapon optimizations, I have everything related to fitting reduction and extra PG/CPU maxed out. Regardless of the fit, maxed PG and CPU is vital for a Minmatar Scout.
I know a cloakless Ewar Minja sounds weird, but I really like it. Try it out.

Depends on the scenario.
For hacking, I'd choose:
2 complex precision enhancers 1 enhanced shield extender
2 complex code breakers 1 enhanced kincat
STD flux
Ishukone knives whatever other sidearm you can fit
whatever cloak floats your boat
Assassination scout:
2 complex sidearm damage mods 1 complex precision enhancer
2 complex kincat 1 complex dampener
Ishukone knives Toxin SMG
STD flux
STD cloak
I had variations on both of these before my respec, because I had hacking 3, Min scout 3 and knives 3, and nothing in biotics, so I wasn't getting everything I could out of the suit.
I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim

A pair of Min scouts could make easy work in PC by hacking hotly contested areas. Run to enemy home point in a tank with a logi or heavy in tow, flux everything, hack, lie in wait for hapless red dots to show, tell them "that's not a knife, this is a knife," and chuckle your way to victory.

Highs damage modes and shields.
Lows damps and speed.
I like two damps to get under other scouts. With no precision you hunt mediums and heavies, if you see a scout run by it's a bonus kill.

I have 2 scouts. #1 caldary - I use this as my assault scout. Its main job is is to kill kill kill. #2 minmatar - I use this one to hack and mobilize troops. This scout is too weak to go against multiple enemies. Instead use it to sneak around and hack objectives. Kills are secondary for this guy. Put some links on this guy and earn bocu points. Pretty much what I do is use this suit speed and stamina to put links close to a heavily defended area or where I see there is a need to increase firepower to an area. Once the link is in place I know that people will start to show up. If the area or objective is heavily defended I use the reinforcement to serve as a distraction. I then sneak in and hack the objective or try to weaken the enemies position. I try to mobilize the troop as much as possible either into needed areas or away from carnages.
Just last night our corp was playing a vs battles. A domination to be exact. You know the one where the objective is inside a city and there is a supply depot near it that people fill it up with links. The person that holds the depot holds the battle. Well, our compatriots where using the supply depot room as a strong hold and we couldn't get them out. Every time I tried to get in with the intention to kill someone I got turned to confetti. I said the hell with this. Lets use the minmatar scout for what it is good for. I got near the door turn the cloak on and ran in strait for the supply depot. That is I bypass everybody. I actually went pass 3 people and stood next to them. Had I tried to shoot them I would had been killed but, instead I use this suit fast hacking ability to take out the depot. Once it turn blue the enemy got confused. "How could someone hack the depot?" they said. "Impossible!!!!" they said. That right there helped turn the battle because they could no longer resupply their grenades and remote explosives. With the confusion created I actually manage to take out a couple of links and two enemies with the shotgun. Yes, I did get killed but, the job was done. With the pressure the rest of the squad was putting on it was a matter of time before our compatriots folded and then I put new links in that room for good measure. Of course on the next vs they kicked our asses but, hey it was fun.
So, what I'm saying is that maybe you need to look at this scout differently than the other ones. I have other suits as well and the minmatar is not my "MAIN" scout but, it is my "GO TO" scout and it does the job really well.
I've seen some high level folks use this scout very effectively. A week ago I saw a guy who doesn't even put a clock on it. He speed tanked it and use nova knifes. That SOB killed 30 with those knifes. At one point I was standing on top of the building watching the action and he just ran in and out of an area so fast people couldn't cope. I sended him an e-mail asking how he fitted it because that thing was super fast. All kinkats. |
