Now IF IF Legions development gets past all the IFS and BS that CCP can put in the way and gets released on the PC should it eventually come to the ps4?
I switched to PC gaming not too long ago and I'm enjoying it, especially with all these sales on Steam. I spent plenty of time playing Dust 514 before fanfest this year. I don't play Dust much anymore and I sold all my games that I had for the ps3, only reason I keep my ps3 is for Dust 514. I have no problem with consoles but we know that eventually PC gaming and streaming devices are the future.
Legion looked great on the PC at Fanfest, but how far can they get with the ps4 hardware?

No it should not, and here is why; The PS4 in my opinion is not even powerful enough to do what CCP has in mind. I'm judging this based on the concept of what Dust 514 was supposed to be. Also, don't forget that Legion when it happens, its not going to be a one time release, we're talking a game that will be around for years to come, and the PS4 will simply get old, and will not be able to handle constant updates.
You know if Dust/Legion were to be the kinda game that is once released this is it, or if it was not set INSIDE of the Eve universe. I would say fine, just port it to the PS4 and let more people enjoy it. But in this case, its not, and moving over to console will just ruin the experience and the possibilities. |

Btw, I'm no hater of consoles, I've a PS4 myself, and I enjoy playing with friends on it.
Agreed, I can't speak to the graphic power and that is not as much of an issue to me personally but add to all of that the limitations Dust has had to deal with because of the PSN.

Ahh yes the PSN issues I've only heard bits of that problem like CCP having to get Sony permission to release patches by having Sony go over it which takes time and they have to pay Sony to get a patch out. I'm not sure anyways if that's true so if u could explain what the problems with the PSN are?

It would be wise to.
Currently ps4 users are starved for good games. For example:after playing Blacklight retribution on the ps4,i kept coming back to Dust 514 on the ps3. It feels more full, and not just a hollow shell like retribution did.
Currently ps4 has several F2P titles: -DCUO (super heros) -War thunder (realistic war vehicles) -Blacklight retribution (generic TDM game) -War frame (an ugly team game)
And that's it... Most people playing those games are only doing so because they have no other options.
If Dust were to transfer to ps4 while it's still relatively new,it would snatch many of those players away from their competition. Probably for keeps.
And could gain a potentially ravenous following via the built in streaming available through ps4. Dust would generate a satisfaction through difficulty that those other games simply couldn't compete with.

While that sounds like a good idea for Dust 514 this is about Legion not Dust 514.

I can not imagine that the UE3 engine is that hard to run on the PS4, even if they have some fancy doodads in place....the only problem is Sony's approval process is still apart of the Ps4.

Lol wut? CCP has a contractual agreement with the name Dust 514 attached. Project legion is a name that has no such obligation,it's a legal work around.
legion is Dust and Dust is legion, using semantics won't change the obvious.

True they are the same idea with different names ( MMO-FPS Sandbox in New Eden and interactive with EVE players) but they are not going to be the same games.
So when I say Dust 514 I'm talking about the lobby shooter that CCP has made on the ps3 that will stay as a lobby shooter and possibly port to the ps4.
When I'm talking about Legion I'm talking about a game that's going or is suppose to be everything that Dust 514 was supposed to be but on PC.... and possibly ps4 but I'm kind of thinking it would be best development wise to stick with the PC.

i wish people would realize its not remotely practical to even think about multiplatform releases so early into a project, its is likely that legion will be playable on a ps4 level machine.
(since a pc game has to be optimized for alot of differ set ups, a ps4 level machine will fit in that margin, so ditch the it wont work its not powerful enough argument because thats all bloix)
legion on pc if it reaches a playable state for the general populous, they will probably start looking to put it on ps4, but they have to have a reasonable amount of content before releasing it since even with sonys improved updated system its still slower to push an update to a ps4 version then it will be to the pc version.
you have to consider that any content in legion pc would take awhile to get to the ps4 witch would either mean they started slowing pc updates (bad idea) or have a second team porting the updates to ps4 in there own time. (people will complain) in other words it makes the most sense for them to simply wait till legion is well established and then look at porting it to another system.
So in short, buy a gaming pc and get cheep steam games to pass the time.

See, AGAIN people missing the whole point...Legion, if it happens, its NOT your typical game, its a game designed for YEARS AND YEARS to come. A game that is SET INSIDE the EVE universe, where there is DIRECT connection between the TWO. They are running on the SAME server, in REAL-TIME. Things happening in Legion will directly affect the EVE universe, and vice verse.
How can you ask for it to come out on the PS4? And I'm glad you mentioned this whole update thing. How can they keep the two games running together? How can they upgrade the game in 5 years from now to over-haul the graphics for example. Or go for new tech with maybe a new engine?? How can they keep the people at that time who have become a part of that universe on the same page? How can they've battles going on with people playing on the PS4 and PC at the same time without issues?
This kinda game simply CAN NOT be multi-platform. When they came up with Dust, why didn't they just release it for the PC as-well?? Why did they make it exclusive to ONE platform?
Maybe they can release a watered down version of it for the PS4 with ZERO connection to EVE. So say what Dust 514 is right now with no planetary conquest stuff. But that's as far as it could go.
Legion / EVE are not like Planetside 2 for example where everything is instanced, and things can happen multiple times on different server with different people. We are talking one huge server carrying all the action of the two games. Everything there exists sort of like real life.

CCP didn't release Dust for PC because of their contract to Sony.
Running real time shouldn't be much of an issue since EVE and Dust already work on the same server. And there have already been battles where players from both platforms have participated at the same time.
Also, as already mentioned, when a game is built for PC it has to satisfy a variety of systems. The PS4 is practically a PC with hardware set in stone. That said, PC games are generally built to be able to run across PC's of multiple hardware specs.
Legion should do just fine on the PS4.

With only minimal differences, each platform having something uniqe the other didn't.
Just saying...
Maybe the console would have 100% fps action while the PC would have tactical negotiating.
Ps4 = pure FPS PC = FPS EVE hybrid, with an emphasis on industry to keep the Ps4 war machine going.

Well, the main problem with sticking to PC i that they'll be double dipping their chip. This F2P game could potentially draw players away from EVE,new or old.
CCP will then have 2 products that are in direct competition with each other. Effectively halving possible monitary gains. By it being on another platform it prevents this and attracts new players (that have never heard of EVE or CCP,such as myself)
PC eliteism could destroy CCP,saying only so many can have access. While putting it on consoles they can advertise for EVE,like Dust has,and get new subscribers, like Dust has given.
It might be inconvenient to the 'pc master race' but it seems to be the best way to make more money.

I don't wanna be rude, but there are some people on here who are just plain DUMB. @DeadlyAztec11....You really didn't read my post, did you?? I know that Dust and EVE are already on the same server, and battles have been done with players on the two sides. But DIFFERENT games....I'm talking if Legion is on both the PC anf PS4, how can you've a battle with players on the 2 platforms?????? Playing the same game that is...And lets say they accomplish that, how can people compete playing against others on PCs with 3 and 4 times more power?? How are updates going to be synced between the 2 platforms??...And more and more....
@Meee One....What is Black Light to even mention on here?????......Black Light is just a lame game with no persistant universe, NOTHING! So of course they can have it on more than one platform. I even mentioned Planetside, just for the sake of that kinda argument. But still, people are too DUMB....And as for having 2 versions of Legion like you said. Please, they're struggling to even get one out. Lol.
Come on people, before u post, just think. And do your research, try to understand what EVE is, and what the concept of Dust 514 was. And what CCP is planning to accomplish with Legion if it happens....Please.. |

Consider this... Console players know the console they are purchasing will be replaced outright in the future, yet they slap 400 + currency down for one each and every time. Plus 50-60 for games. +DLC And no modding means they can only buy what's offered.
While PC users must simply replace a single old part at a time, making them more cost effective. And modding means they have free options, see skyrim.
Console players are simply more willing to part with their monies.
Now,if you were a company going for profit. Which would you target? Money hose console players. Or thrifty PC players?
Obvious answer is obvious.

Well, I consider doing some more research. CCP is the Dev and publisher of their own games. Of course they look for profit, but thats not what they aim for mainly like other companies out there. They're ore about their game, and community..
And, consoles are by no means more costly than a PC. Dedicated PC gamers spend so much more money. My GPU by itself costs more than a PS4...
Again, I'm no hater of consoles, I have had them since I was a little kid to this day, and I keep up with them all the time. Its just I don't see Legion as a possible console project!

I agree the point was to expand the EVE universe but that doesn't mean it has to be on a certain platform to expand it. It'll still expand even if it's only on the PC.

While that sounds like a good idea for Dust 514 this is about Legion not Dust 514. >legion is Dust 514 Lol wut? Well, the main problem with sticking to PC i that they'll be double dipping their chip. This F2P game could potentially draw players away from EVE,new or old. CCP will then have 2 products that are in direct competition with each other. Effectively halving possible monitary gains. By it being on another platform it prevents this and attracts new players (that have never heard of EVE or CCP,such as myself) PC eliteism could destroy CCP,saying only so many can have access. While putting it on consoles they can advertise for EVE,like Dust has,and get new subscribers, like Dust has given. It might be inconvenient to the 'pc master race' but it seems to be the best way to make more money.
EVE players aren't just gonna drop EVE for Legion, they'll be playing both EVE and Legion ( depending on the EVE player). EVE players have spent plenty of time and money on EVE, Legion will just be another way to play in New Eden that they may play at the same time.

They should port it to ps4 if they are able to, at the moment with no good fps games (destiny and cod aside) Dust 514 or "Legion" could potentially double CCP's revenue for profit by extending it to another platform, however, ever since they bulled their own "xbone" blunder when announcing legion, it would be hard to convince players on console to actually trust CCP still after what they did.
By alienating a certain platform or demographic, every company either gaming or non has always found themselves without funding and essentially hated to the point where they often apologize and eventually allow more people to use their products which in turn gives them more money.
if legion were to go on ps4, it would be one of the best decisions CCP has ever made, regardless of the "PC Elitists" dogma and mindset. It would potentially increase EVE Online's playerbase ten fold by introducing it to the console market seriously this time increasing CCP's revenue from EVE Online itself, after all, before Dust 514 ever came out, no console player had ever even heard of EVE Online.
If you want to keep EVE Online the way it is with less than half the playerbase of every individual COD game or even WoW then go ahead and keep it for PC only, just don't complain when nobody will play with you because its only for your kind.

Again it's not about PC elitists, it's about Legions development not being held back mostly by hardware limitations because there is a limit to how much one would spend to upgrade their PC. Sure it would be smart to get it out on the ps4 for more $$ but the game will survive on the PC. As long as people don't just see it as another f2p shooter on the PC. Dust should've been on the PC in the first place, Dust would've been so much further than it is now.

you do realize that its CCPs own fault for ignoring the coming close of the ps3 generation right?
but to say that the ps4 will limit legion is outright bs, its fairly close to being an mobile computer (the only difference is that you cant change parts without voiding the warranty). that mindset is also why gamers view you as "PC Elitists", if people truly cared about limitations on hardware and cost efficiency, then consoles would have ceased to exist 10 years ago when the pc market boomed, people hate when something it kept from them simply because they don't have the right thing to make it work PERFECTLY, millions of people spend thousands of dollars a month on consoles and console games, and your telling me that they are all concerned about hardware limitations? get a dose of reality and see that your PC world isn't the only world that exists.

Wtf are u talking about? I didn't say everyone was worrying about hardware limitations, I said people here that want Legion on PC only are mostly worried about hardware limitations for Legions development. People choose consoles for simplicity and that's fine cuz they just want to play a video game with their tv and controller that came with the console. I have no problem with console only people. Games on console are fine but when it comes to a game like Legion which is gonna be everything dust was supposed to be then it doesn't matter to me how much $$ CCP could make if they get held back by the ps4 and sony.

You mean the hardware limitations that are still in place due to having to be optimized for lower-midrange spec PCs that are equal to, slightly better, and/or slightly worse than PS4 spec-wise? Meanwhile the PS4 has less background processes and a smaller-footprint OS that would otherwise drag performance down? Let's not kid ourselves, there is no real hardware limitation on PS4 that isn't already a limitation on certain mid-range PC builds (some of which are worse than PS4), and those will be compensated for anyway. |

yes, months ago before legion was even announced i said ccp would start over on a new platform and fire shanghai.
i was right about starting over on a new platform, though i meant ps4 at the time and i still believe it should. shooters belong on consoles, eve belongs on pcs. keyboard and mouse sucks for shooters.

mwahahahaha dude your comment reminded me of this funny gif i saw a few days ago, shooters don't belong on a specific platform. Keyboard and mouse suck for you when you try to play shooters with them, fps/shooters are fine on PC.
