By alienating a certain platform or demographic, every company either gaming or non has always found themselves without funding and essentially hated to the point where they often apologize and eventually allow more people to use their products which in turn gives them more money.
if legion were to go on ps4, it would be one of the best decisions CCP has ever made, regardless of the "PC Elitists" dogma and mindset. It would potentially increase EVE Online's playerbase ten fold by introducing it to the console market seriously this time increasing CCP's revenue from EVE Online itself, after all, before Dust 514 ever came out, no console player had ever even heard of EVE Online.
If you want to keep EVE Online the way it is with less than half the playerbase of every individual COD game or even WoW then go ahead and keep it for PC only, just don't complain when nobody will play with you because its only for your kind. Again it's not about PC elitists, it's about Legions development not being held back mostly by hardware limitations of the current consoles. Sure it would be smart to get it out on the ps4 for more $$ but the game will survive on the PC. As long as people don't just see it as another f2p shooter on the PC. Dust should've been on the PC in the first place, Dust would've been so much further than it is now.
You mean the hardware limitations that are still in place due to having to be optimized for lower-midrange spec PCs that are equal to, slightly better, and/or slightly worse than PS4 spec-wise? Meanwhile the PS4 has less background processes and a smaller-footprint OS that would otherwise drag performance down? Let's not kid ourselves, there is no real hardware limitation on PS4 that isn't already a limitation on certain mid-range PC builds (some of which are worse than PS4), and those will be compensated for anyway. |
