So glad someone brought this up, the OP had me thinking the exact same thing. It really seems like 95% of the ideas to "improve NPE" are just thinly veiled shortcuts experienced players want for their alts. That being said I'm a "Yaaargh" for a small raise in the weekly SP cap and a major "NO WAY, MATEY" to cap removal, newbie or otherwise. Rollover sounds enticing but is a different topic.

I have two main characters, this and the one listed in my sig, both created in early 2013. Both are at 30 million SP. I've already maxed most core skills and proto'd two suits on each toon, as well as multiple weapons in their chosen classes.
I bring this up not to boast or whatever, but to simply illustrate that any additional SP gained at this point is not going to make either of my toons 'stronger'. My toons are already as strong as they will ever be. And because of this, I can steamroll mercs with 10 mil SP by wearing standard or advanced fittings, simply by virtue of my passive skills. And frankly, that's boring.
If the SP cap was increased, it would provide two benefits: first, it would increase competitiveness by decreasing the SP gap more quickly between noobs and vets; second, it would allow vets to try out different playstyles more quickly, thereby keeping their interest in the game, instead of moving on. I think that's a win/win for everybody.

Sorry, but I am among the group who see no need for player sympathy here. I feel for you guys in other subjects, but not about the SP assistance/bonus/rate stuff.
I've played the titles that have a graduated/indexed progression (from novice with no good gear up to 'grand-admiral' with gold-cluster uber-gun)... once players have the uber-gun and there's nothing left to unlock, they plan to stay and trample the lesser players... but lose interest quickly, and the game (and associated forum) becomes a ghost town, and expires.
From the start, CCP conveyed they are not interested in making titles that expire after use----they try to make "persistent" games that, among other things, drags a player through HIGH (crap, nose-bleed high) complexity, and a long, constrictive, merciless ladder-climbing system intended to last YEARS before a player can reach "all items unlocked" status.
Some developers "claim" to have games like that (....we console players smile, file our fingernails, and GUT those games like a helpless fish, sometimes in nine hours flat). ...EVE Online has players stuck on it for more than nine years, and they haven't yet "unlocked all items" that they want or need to become the best at their roles.
That's CCP's signature for their "persistent" games, and they don't try to hide about it: you will accumulate your unlock-points at the slave-labor rate of 0.0118 %. If you sign here, you agree to this rate, with bonus option not to exceed..., and so on.
I read the facts about EVE Online: players spend TWO WEEKS just to unlock Mining-skill tier-1,... just so they can START to gain SP for Mining skill-2, which is what they need in order to get the Lasers to fit on the nose (just the nose) of the Type-1 Mining Barge they bought (...just the Type-1, not the Type-2 that gives you better protection in low-sec travel---the Type-1 barge is made of paper and glue, for travelling in grandma's back yard under supervision)... This adds up to spending 4 weeks or more, to fit a couple of required modules, on vehicle that they KNOW is gonna get them "pod-ed" by the first space-mugger they fail to run fast enough away from.
And if they destroy you escape pod without a clone life in reserve, you LOSE both the Tier-2 and Tier-1 mining skills you spent 4 weeks accumulating---wait, WHA. No, really, Time-Out. WHAT??!! I can lose all my earned SP when I die? !!!
So I play Dust 514 with two constant understandings: First, if I am playing Dust, I accept the punishment that SP will given to me on a trickle-slow basis, even if I'm pushing 24/7 in the game. And Second, that I am NEVER going to play Eve-Online. No way! Lose six months worth of SP grind, just because I ran out of clone-reserves? SHOOT--ME!
I have to give you Eve-Online players a big o7 , cuz if you're an Eve capsuleer, you've got more guts than me.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

So if a guy makes 2k warpoints in a game he gets like 4 K extra sp ontop of normal match participation? Currently one gets around 5-6 K Sp per match whether they logibro, kill 50 ppl, or sit in a turret the whole game -.-

If this thread was used as heavy factor for decision, then I criticize it.
If there was a thread asking 'DO YOU WANT INSTAGIB RIFLES' There would be several pages of 'yup'.
There are many possible suggestions like poisonous cakes with sugary top. For example, "do you want to unlock everything" and "do you want unlimited isk and AUR".
People would enjoy Dust a lot more if they accepted the fact that EVERYTHING is subject to change

YARRRG! Good dev blog, although I am concerned this may widen the gap between vets and noobs quite significantly, something CCP has been against from the start. Admittedly though it is nice to see some way for a vet to finish off some LV5 skills without needing to hard cap every week for months on end just to have say max dps for a gun or to try out some new proto gear that they would otherwise need to grind for a month to get.
Cheers and good on you guys, this should make the game more rewarding and exciting, getting into new and more awesome FOTM
