I would like to see it removed for players below a certain amount(10 million seems good) and add SP rollover.
I do not want to see the cap removed(possibly extended but not removed). |

Can we please have people who want this to post in this thread saying "yarrrrrg" or something similar to "sign up" and express they are interested in raising the weekly bonus SP? I'll probably get this thread moved to "Features and Ideas Discussion" once I get in the office, notify people who have to be notified about such things, and see if I can swing something. No promises on the outcome, but I'll do my usual poking around. Rollover SP.
This was never implemented.

It has become that... with all the increases in requirements just to prop up a gamestyle... earning SP has become less and less viable. There really isn't anything in the game that warrants needing 2+ Years of SP just to make it worth attaining. In EVE, this was acceptable because of the tiers or ship and equipment were what created this goal, but in DUST, it's a shooter, much smaller range of viable expectation, and hence the time needed to complete a task has to be lowered relatively. What and where needs to be changed? I don't know, but I do know the grind is getting to me, and I'm a person who has played games such as Runescape without ever once using a bot, and gaining skills up to level 70. Frankly put, I'd call that a good indicator that something feels too slow. Either there is not enough progression that the system is capable of, or the earning needs to be shortened. One such thing would to give a weekly rollover SP that earns at a slightly higher rate (think "Rested" exp from World of Warcraft) This would diminish the gaps between the advanced and medium hour intensive playstyles.

DOUBLE YAAARRRRGGGGGGGGGG
Straight increasing the bonus cap would only lead to more AFK. The goal should be to reward players who are continuing after the cap.
I am sure the current numbers are set based on keeping people logged in for a certain amount of time but a lot of those are just AFK farmers. Set SP to triple just like with an event but keep the weekly cap the same and increase the after cap SP to 3000 (1000WP x 3 as normal). You would likely see a reduction in AFKers that would lead to higher payouts in pubs and better matchmaking. Just make this a one month event and test it out.

Yargest of yargs.
For a very, very long time, the cap has been essentially pointless. The no-lifers and vets all have tons of SP, so much that a higher or nonexistent cap would facilitate little more than "horizontal" growth, letting us mess around with different stuff more easily, not adding any "power" outside of more versatility (considering most of us already have multiple proto suits, weapons, et cetera, even that point is somewhat moot).
New characters, however, are shafted by the cap, as almost every investment up to 15-20M represents significant "vertical" growth (unless the SP has all been spent in Ion Pistols and Flaylocks), making the character quantifiably stronger. Building cores up, grinding through "null" skills like the frames, acquiring a proto suit, weapon, tank and regen mods (or just few things to advanced, as new players will likely want to try things out - the basic frame skills REALLY get in the way there, especially since some roles have no Militia versions), grenades, and if they want to be a real scout or logi, god help 'em. It seems almost insurmountable when you've had to fight through countless stomps in your starter gear trying to get a basic frame to III so you can finally put a level into that shiny Assault, only to realize you're raking in 500 SP match and it'll be days before you can start working towards your goal again. Better off not playing at all and letting passive do the work once you've capped at that point. 1000 SP max isn't worth the struggle.
Jack the cap way up or remove it, even. It isn't going to hurt anything at this point in the game's life cycle, and I'd imagine 100% of our SP won't transfer to Legion because it'd cause exactly the same vet stomping problem that Dust has had forever, so likely no issue there. Let old players keep trying new things, and give newbies a fighting chance if they do the work!
Reality is the original Rorschach.
Verily! So much for all that.

Yarrrrrg.
As others have stated, this late in the game a cap (especially one so low) does nothing but hurt new players by slowing the rate they can catch up to the older ones with 3+ proto suits and almost every proto weapon. |

Thus was the daily cap born. Nobody liked it. It was painfully restrictive and poorly done.
So CCP looked at it again. Unwilling to get rid of it, they called for a vote. A daily cap, a weekly cap? Should there be rollover? How restrictive should it be?
Weekly with rollover, people cried out. Nobody wanted the draconian restrictions. They wanted a softer cap. So CCP made the cap weekly, and said rollover would come Soon(TM).
It was still a paltry cap, but it was better than previously and people carried on hoping rollover would come soon. The cap became a little nicer as well - instead of cutting you back to 50 SP a match, it let you earn an entire thousand! But the rollover was slow in coming.
Months passed, and Uprising came. SP sinks increased literally fivefold. The pointless basic frame skillwall was introduced. Engineering and electronics had their skill multipliers skyrocketed. It used to cost 600k for a newbie to max them and start being able to fit properly. Suit skill multipliers shot through the roof so far they entered orbit, although this was later reverted.
But still we had that 180k weekly cap. Rollover had failed to materialise. There was silence on the subject for a few months until a dev eventually asked wtf we were talking about and said there were no plans for it.
And here we are now, years on, with that very same cap that was once called a temporary measure.
Confirming this to be quite accurate depiction of history.

I don't care. I never, ever, managed to hit the weekly cap, anyway. And I used to play multiple ~1000 WP matches a day for a few months. I don't even want to know how the **** people could consider the cap to be too low.
Then again, it's a dieing game. So removing the cap would be of no important consequences. |

yes for raising no to rollover
Rollover won't affect anyone who caps each week - except for the odd holiday catch up. Rollover wont affect those that don't cap each week. It basically only helps those that sometimes cap and sometimes don't - I expect most people are firmly in one camp or another.
Everyone benefits from raising the cap. Lower SP players benefit more as each 100k SP means new things or new abilities - higher SP players have a slower progression due to the diminishing returns of the SP multipliers. The multipliers are there to make the progression non linear in the first place.
My next 500K SP will go into some weapon optimization skill giving me 1 PG if I'm lucky - whereas a new merc could take a suit from basic to advanced.
