Hello all, i'm emm kay, mk? Anyway as some of you have noticed, dust 514 has become heavy 514. Unless you on a bk-42 assault combat rifle, you won't be anywhere near them for long. So, what do we do about *sentinels*. I've noticed it's not the fatsuits that aretaking over the game. The perpatrator is the big towering buddy, the sentinel. So how do we "fix" them? I have come up with a plethra of options and i need your critique on the best option to bring to the suggestion forum.
Option 1: demand) in this option wedrive up the price of the sentinel suit to make less margin of profit. When i am running my heavy, i notice that with little money, i can go out and pubstomp with my boundless ak.0 and make a reasonably good profit as the bodies pile up. The action of increasing the price will reduce profit margins of heavies greatly, and pull logies back into demand.
Option 2: turtlize) for this plan to work we'll need to pull a few strings. This will be a new concept for dust, and a game changing mechanic. First off we wipe off all resists. The sentinel is now like the heavy, except more hp. Now we add the new mechanic: reinforced mode. When a sentinel crouches, (s)he will be unable to move for a 10 second period, even if crouching is no longer taking place. Also while crouching, a heavies resists go up by 10% for each level of the sentinel achieved. The icon for the 10 second reinforcement looks like a module slot for a scanner or cloak with a bastion module icon in the center. This would give sentinels a new dynamic to play with. This would also increase the element of surprise, for if a heavy looses too much health, reinforcement mode will not work. A side note that this would give gallente logis an edge, due to regenerative properties
Option 3: fatter than you realize) give the heavy suits a huge signature to them. let everyone know that they are there, and they are the enemy. Intel on this game is a powerful tool, and gives a great advantage to those who can use it. This is the polar opposite of plan 2. In plan two we reinforce the element of surprise on a heavy, and require them to use judgement in their actions. This action will put them in a posision that requires brute force to solve, as most the blueberries will be aiming at the bright red dot on their mipmap. This will also give amarr scouts a buff, as i have heard some chatter about them getting passive scan range.
Option 4: le nerf) simple and straight forward, most of the time ccp uses this option. Just reduce the hitpoints of heavies. Make them more volatile to the elements. Simple.
So, which is your pick?

Option 5 Learn to aim and use superior range and leave heavy suits alone because you can't play a thinking man's fps. This isnt COD. Also your option 3 is already there. Heavies have a pretty high DB and most heavies have not spent any sp in profile dampening. Heavies also have the largest hitbox. |

I take it you don't know of the bastion module. Or of heavies wielding kalakiota rail rifles for that matter. Or the fact that cod has no economy. Or any form of sophisticated ladar. Go burn, troll.

If you honestly have issues taking out a heavy you need to go back to cod because you clearly can not play a thinking man's fps. Just stay outside of 50 meters and plink them to death with nearly any weapon in the game expect a hmg. If you are attempting to go toe to toe with a heavy you will lose and you SHOULD loose.

....... Or of heavies wielding kalakiota rail rifles for that matter..........
If a heavy has a Rail Rifle, they have severely nerfed DPS for range. The only advantage they have is more HP than other RR users, for a large reduction in speed. If you aren't playing peek-a-boo or flanking him, of course you're going to lose, he can take a bigger beating than you can.
Heavies are fine. HMGs do what they are meant to, point and kill at short range. Expecting to survive when standing in front of one is risky at best, idiotic at worse. The suits are also serving their purpose of a slow and tough death machines.
Also considering the changes coming in Charlie, spam should drop. Increased heat build-up means managing fire more. Spray and pray will lead to an overheat much more easily. Overheating in the middle of a fight equals one dead heavy.

As an individual who has been a dedicated heavy for over a year and a half, I have pretty much seen everything minus Tue closed beta days. When I first started off, the heavy suit was one of the most expensive to run. I didn't really care about the price tag nor would I really care if the tag was bumped up to be in line with a decked out logi at proto level. After all we need our logibros and I hate knowing they (could) end up dying more and (could) lose more isk then me for working together with me.
I don't like this module that you speak of. The reason being is that in any battlefield if you are immobile for any prolonged period, your dead. I would never want to be immobilized for any percentage unless it was Damn near 100% resistance to all incoming damage, which would be stupid OP and completely broken for any game. I think it's a decent thought to suggest but it would never gain my support.
The profile of the heavy is already higher then every suit and even with the passive bonuses to dampening its not that low to be extremely stealthy. Sure it might be slightly unfair for someone new who isn't skilled into those passive skills to not pick up a heavy on tacnet, but then again why should a specific role be penalized when an individual has worked long and hard to acquire those skills? Obviously a dedicated heavy will not be investing SP off the bat, if at all, because it's a luxury item that is not truly needed to be successful. More then likely if you do run into a heavy that is passively dampened is because the player is multi spec into a few other roles and need those skills for other builds.
The sentinels don't need any adjustments until the assault suits go through their balancing. Scout suits need to be finalized with the direction ccp wants to take them. After all these adjustments are made and IF the heavy suit paired with the HMG are still ridiculously OVERPOWERED (which they really aren't when engaged correctly) then I'm all for a 're balance to create equilibrium between all classes.
Heavy spam became prevalent because of the cloaked scout spam via 1.8 launch. Which came about because of all the high sp events hosted by ccp.which in turn allowed more people to skill into multiple rolls quicker then ccps original game plan designs. It's simple cause and effect.
The simple fact is that people got tired of being OHK by someone who remained invisible after the first shotty. Heavy suits are the only suit that can take 2-4 direct hits before being downed. This allows individuals a chance to play the game and give them a chance to fight back on a broken mechanic upon implementation to the game. I don't fault the heavy suit, nor people flocking to it because of a misstep by the developers.

Heavies that use light weapons are FoTM chasers and have no real skill so hide behind huge eHP of sentinel suits, and are by far the lowest population in dust......they usuyally are running solo because they can't run to save there lives and are easy pickings for any one that has any kind of dampening skills since a sentinel suit has the weakest scanning strenght or range of them all.
The biggest problem with the sentinel suit was the abundance of cpu/pg that allowed them to fit a completely protoed-out suit, and just wreck everything around them, with hotfix charlie the sentinel suit will be more balanced then it is now. |

the funnest thing about that is that heavies have a res against explosives, so they take less damage from an RE........and for them to QQ that RE is OP is just more proof that FoTH heavy chasers have no skill in game |

Amen to this! Remotes have wrecked my plans many times. Even when I see them, I'm too slow to put distance between me and it. Cloaked shotguns have taken me out. Peekaboo tactics, even in close quarters, have done me in.
I've been out ranged by rail rifles, scrambler rifles, assault rifles, combat rifles, laser rifles, sniper rifles, potato rifles, spitball rifles, and any other rifle CCP has decided to throw into this game. I've even been out damaged by SMGs within my effective HMG range on a few occasions (go figure that one). Flux and shoot players have gotten me. Locus and shoot players have gotten me. Mass drivers have gotten me. Nova knives have gotten me. I've succumb to the Scrambler pistol dance of death, the MagSec two shot tango, the Flaylock BS barrage (back in its day)... etc, etc, etc...
I'm a level 5 (across the board) dedicated heavy. I do some other things, but heavy is my raison d'etre. I've been a heavy since I started this game over a year ago. I was a heavy when heavies weren't cool. And Dust is my first ever FPS, so admittedly I'm not as good as some others who have more FPS experience. I've been killed a lot of ways: some I understand, some still baffle me (I just chalk those confusing deaths up to bad game mechanics and move on). I'm not complaining about that...
...Though what I am saying with all of the above is: if you haven't found an effective way to outdo a heavy, have you tried turning your Playstation on? Myriad fatty slaying options open up to you once that little green light shines. Many good players have demonstrated this fact on me time and time again.

A side note that this would give gallente logis an edge, due to regenerative properties Option 3: fatter than you realize) give the heavy suits a huge signature to them. let everyone know that they are there, and they are the enemy. How about Nerf the op dps of the hmg and maybe the cr..done fixed... If a heavy weapon has the same DPS as a light weapon what point is there to use a heavy weapon... I said nerf dps not nerf to light weapon, and it's clip and hipfire ability, but whatever... You sound a little butthurt... And id love a wider hipfire as it would literally destroy two steppers xD

I toss my explosive like a frisbee and press the det button. 1/2 the animation plays and no boom. I was expecting an earth shattering kaboom! Not to mention sentinels can already tank res so there's that... Sentinals do not have enough hps to tank a RE. I have been killed many times by these annoying frisbee's myself.

I take it you don't know of the bastion module. Or of heavies wielding kalakiota rail rifles for that matter. Or the fact that cod has no economy. Or any form of sophisticated ladar. Go burn, troll. If what im told is true that shouldn't be a problem due to the CPU/PG fix. Heavy weapons will in return have less CPU/PG so its more encouraged to use it. I was told this so i might be wrong. Secondly your QQ made me laugh. Learn to not walk into a Gatling gun... Nuff said
